I'm sharing my experience so others can avoid what I went through after purchasing a vehicle from Hilltop Cars. I was told the car had been inspected and was in good condition. Very shortly after buying it, I discovered major safety and mechanical issues that were never disclosed, including:    *   Torn/damaged engine mounts - a serious safety issue that is visible with even a basic look under the wheel well    *   Worn/unsafe tires that needed replacement    *   Alignment problems affecting safety and drivability    *   A chipped windshield that was never mentioned These were not minor fixes. I paid $3,105.47 for the mechanical repairs, plus another $147 for the windshield chip -- totaling $3,252.47 out of pocket to correct issues the dealership failed to disclose. When I brought this to their attention, I was given conflicting explanations about the "inspection." At first, I was told the car was inspected. Later, they claimed it was only a visual inspection. Even if that were true, a proper visual inspection would have clearly caught torn engine mounts, because they are visible without even lifting the car. That tells me the inspection was either not done properly, or not done at all. I was also told more than once that I would be reimbursed and that they would "cut me a check." That promise was repeated several times, yet there was no follow-through -- only delays, excuses, and shifting responses. Buying a car is a major financial commitment, and customers deserve honesty, transparency, and accountability. My experience did not reflect that. I hope this review helps others approach this dealership with caution, ask detailed questions, and insist on proper documentation before purchasing. read more

Honestly fuck this dealer I regret getting my car here at this bullshit ass place they sold me a salvage 2016 Honda that wasn't even reported to the dmv. The whole bottom of the car is all broken and missing pieces I've barely been having the car for two months and it's has been making noises the first two weeks that I got the car & the person from the dealership says he can't help me with anything expect get me cheaper parts and I have to pay for the repair this is complete bullshit and if I would've known I would've been in this position now I would've never gotten my car here . DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE. I was lured in by their too-good-to-be-true price and the laid back sales person. I should have seen the warning signs when I got to their lot and stepped in their office: looks like this building has not had any maintenance in 30 years, with stained ceilings, dirty floors and walls, and desks covered in paper. But the car was so cheap, and I had driven so far to get here, so I ignored the unprofessional atmosphere and eventually bought the car. Big mistake - I should have had the car professionally inspected before signing the paperwork, because a year later the car completely broke down and needed a $850 engine repair. Turns out the previous owner never changed the oil. The following year, when I attempted to trade it in towards a new car, we discovered that there was frame damage, uncovered during an Autocheck report. Hilltop had previously given me a clean Carfax report, but not Autocheck. Turns out Hilltop knew about this frame damage and failed to disclose it to me which is illegal in California. I hired an attorney and over a year later I finally won the case, got all my money back and returned this piece of junk car to them. Don't make the same mistake I did and stay away from this deceptive dealership. I bet they pull this stunt all the time and hope people don't find out about preexisting conditions, or if they do, they just hope they don't go to the extent I did in hiring legal help. Get all used cars inspected by a qualified mechanic before purchase, and ask for both the Carfax AND Autocheck report so you have a better idea of its history. And realize that if a seller doesn't inform you of preexisting frame or flood damage and you later discover proof of those conditions you have every legal right to a full refund on your purchase no matter how much time has elapsed. read more

First day I go there to check out a car I seen the price of the car online for 7,999 the lady tried to say it was actually 8,999 and that the car I was looking at was a different car. In addition, Mike, the owner of this business, is very unprofessional, make a habit of buying bad cars and fixing up the body only, to make it appealing to the customers eye, with no concern as to how the car drives, rather it's safe to drive, or if it's altogether a LEMON Lastly, his car fax reports seemed to be a tad bit doctored, so if he attempts to use such documents to convince you the car is running in good condition, don't believe it. Usually we're very reluctant to buy vehicles from car lots due to a bad experience several years ago but after looking at some of the reviews for Hilltop we decided to give them a chance. I'm extremely glad we did. We bought a 2005 Z71 Tahoe at the beginning of July and the car is wonderful. The customer service was also excellent from the salesman all the way to finance. They both we're very informative, honest & helpful. Our salesman came in on his day off to make sure we were happy and the gentlemen in finance was so easy to talk to and really friendly. It's obvious they try and obtain better quality vehicles then most car lots and have a more professional attitude.
