Absolutely amazing service. From the moment I arrived with my family, till now... I can't say enough great things. I'm a director for a very "sales driven" atmosphere and when I arrived at the Hilton, I saw something that taught me the difference between sales and sales retention. What I mean is, I have to convince famines to buy my package deal of care "daycare" but, the Hilton already had me, I pre booked like most! Knowing that, they used BETTER costumer service I use and I work with children! Let's just say Cheryl who works upfront made it feel like Disney Land! How did she do this, I'll tell you. Cheryl literally greeted my 5 year old with a treasure box! All of you parents know the difference this makes, a toy that's a surprise coming from a quiet strange place just after getting out of the car from a road trip....need I say more. Cheryl without hesitation walked up to my son with a huge smile, surprise box and made real eye contact with him, gave him time to decide what toy he would like (very important to a 5 year old) and then asked if he was thirsty! Seriously, after that she complimented his suitcase, helped us with our luggage, room keys, late night snacks, and truly made me want to come back, stay, and recommend! I normally don't write these, I normally don't go in to details about my personal experience however, people like Cheryl need to be recognize and I'm happy to write this review. I want to also add that Garret who works in front desk not only waited for our whole party to arrive but he also loaded, unloaded and helped gather all of our party to help separate which luggage went to each room. The next morning Garret helped "install" two carseats! I can't make this up, He was amazing, he had a smile the entire time and was truly a pleasure to be around! I had dinner twice at the Hilton. Brent the bartender was on point, he never made me feel as if he was in any rush (we ate late), he has great recommendations! Try the Flatbreads, fabulous! Then our server the next night was Melanie, she was a doll. Fast, friendly, bubbly and professional. That's the key word in my experience here, professional and all done in such a classy way! I'm really happy to be here, I'll be back, I pray the same wonderful staff members are still here and I hope anyone who reads this understands that going that extra mile is the difference between 3 starts and a PERFECT 5 stars. So we've stayed here a few times. I embarrassingly had to use the bathroom before we check in as my friend was driving me around and we were at a bar. So I go to use the bathroom in the back. I come out looking for my friend and there is two hotel staff. One big chubby black guy and a shirt mexican guy. Start asking me if I'm staying here and I don't know English very well. I'm a gay male and I felt like they were being really aggressive and it scared me. My friend gets back later she was just checking to see if their bar was open and pool bc when we check in we were wanting to go into the pool. Pool was closed I guess. So I go look for her. When my friend get back looking for me I'm not there and I guess they were VERY aggressive to her. She said she was going to be staying at the hotel that night but the black man kept pursuing and asking her her last name, room number, etc. asking her these details when WE WERE TRYING TO BOOK A ROOM. Then she says "that's none of your business" (that's what she told me) and he got ve Ro aggressive and said he was calling the police. She was asking for where I was and was scared because it was late at night and two guys were there following her and staring at her at the door. She said she didn't want to give them info about name because she honestly didn't feel like it was appropriate how they asked in such an aggressive manner without even allowing her to go to the front of the hotel yet. All this because I had to use the bathroom before we checked in and I couldn't hold it. She got in an argument with them and was looking for me and she said she almost had a panic attack bc they said they were calling police for no flipppppin REASON! Harass and follow a young girl around the property. We have a nice car and in by no way are homeless. When she found me I was at the front looking for her. She asked him what his name was am he said "none of your business, and the police are coming". Fuuuuuu this guy. What a weirdo. He was either racist or did not like gay people. What a good way to ruin the night! He made himself look like a total idiot. We just wanted to end the night getting some more drinks and go to sleep! We've stayed here before. The rooms are just ok, the walls to the room and directions to get to the rooms are a nightmare. But we liked the pool and outdoor fireplace. This guy should be fired for reporting someone using the bathroom! And stalking a girl just trying to get to her car saying he will call police if she doesn't tell him the last name, demanding we check in! He wasn't even wearing a hotel name tag or shirt or anything! read more

I stayed at Hilton San Diego/Del Mar from February 16 to February 18, 2025, and had an absolutely unacceptable experience on my last morning there. On February 18, after 10 AM--right before checkout--the hotel conducted a fire alarm test without any prior notice. The alarm blared for over 10 minutes, followed by a second round lasting over 5 minutes. The noise was so intense that both my son and I experienced temporary hearing numbness and discomfort. This was not just disruptive but physically harmful. When I called the front desk, I was first told that the fire department was responsible and that a notice had been placed on the door. However, there was no such notice in my room. Later, the manager changed the explanation, stating that it was a state-mandated test. I also contacted the fire department directly, and they confirmed they had no involvement in the alarm. As if that weren't bad enough, when I expressed concern about the physical impact of the alarm, the front desk's response was that I could leave the property--which is an outrageous suggestion, especially considering I have mobility limitations. Leaving on such short notice in a wheelchair would have been extremely difficult. Instead of ensuring guests were properly informed or offering any real accommodation, Hilton's response was dismissive and inadequate. This happened right before checkout, which I find highly suspicious. Conducting such a disruptive test at that exact time without warning felt calculated rather than coincidental. If this was truly a necessary test, why weren't guests notified in advance? After all of this, I was verbally assured that my Hilton Honors points would be refunded, but I am still waiting for confirmation. I expected far better from Hilton, but the lack of transparency, miscommunication, and complete disregard for guest well-being was beyond disappointing. I would strongly warn anyone considering staying here to think twice--especially if you have any sensory sensitivities, health concerns, or disabilities. Hilton needs to immediately improve its communication, guest notification policies, and customer service training. This was not just an inconvenience--it was negligence. read more

Update on my review of the Hilton Del Mar. I met with the manager this morning, Phil Campanelli. He was very courteous and he listened. He did say that he tried to contact me yesterday 3 or 4 times so I retract that statement. He agreed with me that the the use of the N* word is unacceptable around the pool and he would take some action if this occurs again. He also stated that he would be monitoring the situation today. I also told him I wanted to be compensated by the hotel and he asked what kind of compensation I was looking for which I think is fair. The bottom line is, is it's the parents and coaching staff responsibility to control their children and if they are out of control, hitting people with balls and hurling racial slurs around the guests, it then becomes the Hotel's responsibility to maintain a safe and pleasant atmosphere for ALL GUESTS. I will see how today goes and post and update. I think that having the managers supply the security is a bad idea. They need separate security to maintain the safety and security of guests, especially on busy weekends like the 4th of July in San Diego. Update: So here is my last post about this place. After meeting with the manager this morning the same thing happened with the soccer team. Two families left the pool because of them. The only person who took action with these little out of control pricks was the gardener. Yay the gardener! I saw the manager sitting under the patio talking while all hell was breaking loose in the pool. I told him there were problems there already, he ignored me. Also ZERO towels at the pool. I told the manager and the front desk 3 times!!! Bye Bye Hilton hotel. Nice giving you my business since 1995. Hello Auberge Del Mar. Hey Hilton Del Mar! Get a new manager and a new staff. Give the gardeners a raise. They seem to be the only ones who take action. Plus my room has not been cleaned in 2 days. I'm over this place. read more

We stayed at the Hilton San Diego - Del Mar back in June 2024 and had an great experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly and welcoming, making check-in quick and easy. As a Hilton Diamond member, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a room upgrade and a complimentary $30 credit for breakfast, which was a nice touch. The hotel is beautifully maintained, with clean, comfortable rooms that provided a relaxing environment. The modern amenities and attention to detail in the room's design were impressive. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The location is fantastic, conveniently situated near excellent dining options and local attractions. I enjoyed the hotel's amenities, including the well-maintained pool and fitness center, which added to the overall enjoyment of my stay. One highlight was the on-site restaurant, where I enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast buffet. The variety and quality of the food were outstanding. Additionally, the hotel offers two Tesla destination chargers and two other ChargePoint chargers. However, they were full the entire time, so I didn't get a chance to use them. Overall, my stay at the Hilton San Diego - Del Mar was excellent. The combination of superb service, comfortable accommodations, and a prime location made for a memorable trip. We stayed at the Hilton Del Mar unexpectedly after our home experienced a flood, and we couldn't have asked for a more caring place during such a stressful time. From the moment we arrived, Troy and Frank went above and beyond to make sure my family felt welcomed, comfortable, and truly taken care of. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine compassion made a difficult situation so much easier, and we'll always be grateful for how they treated us. The housekeeping team was also exceptional. Every member we encountered was incredibly friendly, kind, and efficient. Our room was always spotless, and everyone we interacted with greeted us with a smile. Overall, the service throughout the entire hotel was outstanding. Every staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and eager to help. It truly felt like everyone cared, and that made all the difference during a challenging time. The only suggestions I would make are to add more vegan options to the restaurant menu and consider offering complimentary parking for hotel guests. I would have happily eaten at the restaurant every day if there had been more vegan choices available. At the bar waitress Nicole made sure to make us feel unwanted there. We tasted racism from her part, made me feel very disgusting. She ignored us me n hubby waited for more than half n hour never went to our table 3 couples got there after us n she will go to they're tables but us....never.....we got up n left to our room .400 dlls a night to find this ? We were here to celebrate our 30th anniversary. I don't recommend this place and the bar !!! I booked this hotel through Amex and was shocked by the experience. They placed me in an accessible room directly facing the freeway--loud and uncomfortable, completely inappropriate for my reservation. To make matters worse, the room key didn't work, leaving me stranded outside the door. After a long travel day, this was infuriating. It's unacceptable to mishandle a reservation from such a trusted service and fail on basics like working keys. I won't be returning or recommending this hotel. Poor customer experience. read more
