We stayed here for three nights for a family member's wedding. overall we had an okay stay here, but there were several things that made this a hotel I would not choose if I were in the area again. First, it is an older hotel, but the entire lobby area was still nice. You could tell the room we were in was older, but everything was clean. The beds were a bit worn with the mattresses a bit too soft, and the toilet always seemed uncertain if it was going to flush completely. The shower was great though. I did get only one use of the body wash in the shower before it was empty which tells me that housekeeping was not on top of checking and refilling it. To me that's a small thing that makes a huge difference. Oh, at least three of us, in three different rooms, had issues with our key cards randomly deactivating too. The man that we checked in with was very friendly, but the service, otherwise, was not great. One morning, our family member done the hall woke up to find that someone had vomited outside their hotel room overnight. They called the front desk to ask someone to clean it up, and first it took at least an hour, maybe more, before someone came. Then when they did, they seemed to clean it with just water and then put a fan to dry it. This made it smell horribly all throughout the hall as well as in my family member's room. I don't even have a strong sense of smell but it was intense even for me. We happened to be in the room all morning and afternoon, as we were getting hair and makeup done for the wedding, so it was something we dealt with the whole time. They came maybe an hour later and added some baking soda to the carpet but it didn't help. I'm not sure why they didn't use an actual cleaner that could maybe have covered that scent. As far as I know, there was also no compensation offered for this gross inconvenience which would have been obvious to anyone walking by. Breakfast was very confusing and disorganized. Our reservations came with the breakfast. It was a seat yourself kind of situation with a buffet. But the server was still supposed to bring drinks. The first morning, my daughter and I ended up with drinks because our family members had arrived before us and were one of the only ones in the room at the time. The second morning I had no interaction from a server, and we had to track them down for a drink as well as follow up when they continued to do other things, seemingly forgetting our drinks. The third morning was the same. This time I was offered a drink, but then after she walked around handing out a bunch of drinks and went back to working at the bar, I had to go ask for our drinks again. Keeping in mind that breakfast doesn't necessarily come with the stay but you can pay for breakfast, it seems the servers should have been that much more on top of making sure all the guests were taken care of. Also, interestingly, when served, orange juice was automatically given, but I was never able to find water anywhere. Two of our family members chose to use the shuttle to go from the airport to the hotel. Despite being 10-15 min away, they waited over an hour to be picked up. There was apparently a reputation, as noted by the other shuttles from other hotels, that this one has to be called and can take a while. Given all these pros and cons, it would be okay to stay here if you just needed a place to sleep but not if you're looking for great hospitality. read more

Terrific greeting at front desk - we always feel welcome at this hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable - and for us, the location is perfect (in the middle of all the places we need to visit - airport, appointments, family). You'd never know Dulles Int'l Airport is nearby! Hotel offers a nice breakfast (bonus: Starbucks is nearby!), and while dinner offers a somewhat limited menu, it is perfect for guests arriving late-ish and not wanting to hunt for a nearby restaurant. Parking is not overly abundant, but there is always a space available. read more

We spent one night at this hotel after flying in Dulles airport. Our room and bathroom were clean. Hotel does look old. Parking was easy to find. The hotel bed was comfortable as we enjoyed our restful sleep. The front desk staff was friendly. Hilton Garden Inn typically does a great job of preparing breakfast in the morning and this hotel did not disappoint me. I had the French toast with sausage and it was delicious. Likewise my wife enjoyed her omelette. The price of the room and the breakfast was reasonable. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel when flying out of Dulles airport. read more

Definitely one of the better Hilton Garden Inn's I've been to, and as a Diamond member I've been to tons on Hilton hotels nationally and globally. The staff here are very nice and respectful. They have a decent bar with the norm for making popular cocktails or serving beer. They have a large concession stand loaded with snacks and drinks. I needed to stay in the area for work and a co-worker chose this place. I normally stay in Marriotts, but was fine with staying in a Hilton because I'm max'd out with Marriott at this point. Checking in was decent, the lady checking me in acknowledged my HH status and quickly gave me a key. The first thought when I got to the room was it was dated. Definitely could tell by the colors, décor, and furnishings it well past its prime. Then I made the mistake of looking under the bed - GROSS!!!! Dust and several old food containers from the fast food previous guests ate and then shoved the containers under the bed. The quality of the towels was horribly thin. The TV select was terrible, nothing in the streaming component, just basic TV, which wasn't very beneficial. The chair at the desk was completely nasty! It had white stains on it... how was I supposed to work at the desk sitting on this chair? RIDICULOUS! For breakfast, they charge for that here, so I didn't partake. I walked across the parking lot to the 7-11, which has a Taco Laredo in it and got breakfast there (which is decent). Overall... I travel a lot and I'm pretty much sick & tired of staying in the poorly kept up, poorly maintained, poorly cleaned properties. Even the airlines "get it" and upgrade us regular travelers to first class, for the price we paid for a regular fare. It's time these hotels have better room, feature, TV, amenities, etc for business travelers, who are their bread & butter! read more

We have been flying in and out of Dulles a lot in 2021. On this particular trip we stayed here after arriving at Dulles late in the evening and also the night before our early morning flight. We booked ahead on the Hilton app and the rates were good. We like to use the digital key within the app to avoid checking in and out at the front desk. The hotel appears to be well kept and looks much newer than 10 years old. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We also liked that a Starbucks and 7-11 is located in the adjoining parking lot so it's easy to grab something to eat/drink on the go and fill up the rental car before returning to the airport. Not sure about this one. For a Hilton, the quality is a bit lacking. Good amenities in the rooms, especially since many hotels have moved away from in-room kitchen appliances since the pandemic. The hotel restaurant is crazy overpriced for what is being served, an airline meal voucher only covered maybe half of my very basic alfredo pasta. Staff seems a little discombobulated but could be new. Indian(?) young woman at the front desk is wonderfully kind and helpful. read more

Definitely not the Hilton experience you expect. Starts with the management company that owns this location. HIRE MORE STAFF, you cheapskates! One employee on duty all night. That's it. The restaurant staff consisted of one poor lady clearing tables and tending to customers. Same with the housecleaning staff. Saw just two ladies the whole time we were there. Rooms did not get cleaned. Bath wash and conditioner containers were not refilled. No tissue papers, etc. I have no complaint about the employees. They were friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible. It's the stingy company running the place. Won't be staying here again. read more

Place was meticulous clean. Room was bright and airy. Great, back supportive desk chair and good desk light. Comfortable easy chair with footstool. Mattress was excellent with multiple pillows of different densities so it was easy to find one that suited. Along with alarm clock, there was a dedicated charging station-- perfect for Kindle and cell phone users. Mini fridge (no freezer) kept food nicely and ice was available on each floor. Coffee maker with kcups as well as different teas and coffee available 24/7 by front desk. As a Hilton member we received a free breakfast-/ bacon, sausage, eggs, home fries, French toast, fresh fruits, oatmeal, yogurt, breads and pastries were all available as well as juices. Just a short drive to nearby shopping center which had a number of dining options. Free shuttle to Metro and airport. Definitely will be our base for visiting what DC has to offer! read more

There was a putrid smell coming from the shower drain. I was told no other rooms were available. Nobody followed up with me or offered a room at a later time. The smell was so bad I had to cover the drain with plastic and towels. I mentioned it multiple times, but no effort was made to take care of it except to pour some lemon scented gunk down the drain, which then smelled like lemon scented sewer gas. read more

Perfectly fine for one night, this property was close to the Dulles airport when I arrived after midnight and I skipped breakfast to get on the road early to get to work. Good location, easy parking, good room. The bed was less than comfortable. HGI uses the adjustable ones and while I had it cranked all the way to maximum firm, I still woke up in a trench. The beds don't last forever... Clean and quiet though and the bathroom had more than enough towels. Work desk had enough outlets and there were also a few on the nightstand. I would probably stay here again, though that bed is a deal killer. read more

This is an ok hotel, although not up to the higher standards one would expect from a Hilton. It is conveniently located. It's reasonable clean. It has adequate accessibility to parking, although if it's busy parking could be tight. I didn't find the complimentary coffee or cookies in the lobby, but the staff I encountered were nice and helpful. My room layout is weird. The bathroom door blocks the room door. The shower door is such that you have to step into the shower to turn it on - the cold spray, while adjusting it, is not how I want to wake up on a cold morning. The grout around the shower floor was moldy. It is an easy ride to and from D.C. when there is minimal traffic, but a huge delay other times. I give it a 4 star because it's not bad. NOTE: Yelp indicates that staff wears masks... this is not true largely (maybe 1 in 10) including front desk and food service folks. This Hilton Garden Inn would get 4-5 stars from me except for the fact that staff doesn't wear masks to protect themselves, colleagues and customers. Even though other Hilton properties (e.g. Hilton Dulles) do wear masks. Heck even folks at the Starbucks next door wear masks. The facility is clean, updated and staff for the most part is very friendly and accommodating. While in the past food service folks have been snotty more recently there has been no issues . Location is super convenient whether using toll roads or back roads to get to any place in Herndon, Ashburn, etc. Definitely plan to stay hear again. read more

Stayed in the kind sized whirlpool room. Bed was definitely a queen. Front desk staff was great. Room had a weird smell coming from the area closest to the window and it smelled like death. Ended up not sleeping due to said potent smell and was extremely displeased. Hilton added 5000 honor points but still imho did not make up for the fact I paid over 100 for a room to relax and legit only relaxed in a 30 min bath during the whole stay. Room service was bland and unappealing. The rice had no flavor. The dragon fire flatbread was legit a spicy onion flatbread. The chicken sandwich was dry and the ham was to crispy making the textures not meld well. Fries seemed like generic frozen steak fries. The mixed veggies were the only good part but were soft and uncooked. Overall really disappointed and will not be returning. Pool and hot tub were nice but close at 10 even without a life guard on duty which is silly. read more

I'm a very loyal HGI fan disgusted by this location. It's easy to find via GPS, but it's the second exit off a $4 toll road. Seems kinda ridiculous to pay $4 to drive 2.3miles on this toll road when approaching from Dulles. Seek an alternate route. The hotel appears to be very new, so new that there's nothing around. Just a gas station and an Aloft hotel. No restaurants or retail nearby. At checkin I was greeted by a staffer that appeared ready to go clubbing instead of working. Dressed so casually that you wondered if the hotel staff participate in some sort of casual dress down day. Who cares, just check me in, but I do have hesitations passing my credit card to someone appearing so non-professional. I go to my room, it appeared clean and spacious. I did my bed bug check and found to my horror that the sheets were not clean. They were littered with stains and small curly hairs, GAG! Packed up, went down to the front desk and kindly asked for a new room. The clerk was friendly and issued me new keys to a different room. This room didn't appear to have sheets that were as dirty. I placed the card requesting new linens on my pillow the next morning before leaving for work, I returned to find the same sheets still on the bed (I marked them as a hotel inspector would, finding the same red mark still on the dirty linens). I was fuming, but I returned the next day at 1am and was stuck. I couldn't easily checkout as I had a 6am flight. The bathroom seamed ok, the shower head was broken and sprayed water out to both sides of the shower, and the low flow head was annoying. I understand that hotels need to conserve to save on things like water bills for showers and cleaning linens, but my experience just seemed like wholesale laziness on the part of the housekeeping staff. read more

A nice airport hotel, conveniently located off of the Dulles Toll Road. This part of NoVa isn't built up all that much, so you still have a sense of country while not sacrificing nice dining options. The hotel has 5 floors and feels brand new. Everything was remarkably clean. I was even informed at check-in that they use state-of-the-art beds guaranteeing a comfortable night's sleep. Said bed was comfortable, nicely conforming to my body. Free wi-fi was available throughout the hotel, and room service was available for the incurious. Reception staff were always professional and very friendly. I found the hotel through Hotwire where it was listed as a 3-star hotel. It cost $65 + $13.25 (tax) = $78.25. Somewhat isolated location with no dining options other than the lounge if you are car-less. Wanted to order room service but there was no menu. Asked the manager for one and was told it was in my room. He eventually got me one (and let me know there was one in my room. Again.). Why argue with me? Just get me a damn menu. Let's talk beds This is possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have not slept in for a long while. In fact the last time was in Grimsby in 1993 where I was booked into a BB which turned out to be frequented by fisherman and the bed was a single with a crater where your backside should have rested comfortably. Back to my 4.00am rant in my lumpy, unsupportive, crater laced mattress. It's a nice looking hotel, friendly staff. Enjoyed a dinner in the hotel restaurant and utilized the business facilities to print tomorrows presentation. However, they have missed the point in a hotel should provide a comfortable sleeping experience for the weary traveller bed 1/2 star everything else 4 stars. I will not be returning and should have stayed at the Hampton Inn in Leesburg ike I normally do. I am sorry pillow top mattress , I strayed but will return soon!!!!!! read more

This was just an overnight stay but the staff was polite and was very helpful when I needed them. I was also able to park my car there for the duration of my business trip (4 days). They do offer a shuttle to and from Dulles airport which is very convenient. When you're returning, go to entrance 2H on the ground level and wait for the shuttle. read more

The first and most important problem I have is I chose this Hilton because it was Father's Day weekend and I wanted to have a nice cooked to order breakfast with my hubby. On the website it clearly advertised cook to order breakfast. That didn't happen because they didn't make preparations to open up once the governor gave the word. Please lower your expectations for a slight step above Continental breakfast ($12). The best accommodation was an additional hour for late checkout and the front desk was friendly. Upon entering the room we noticed stained carpet, chipped and stained furniture. This gave the room a feeling of trash heap furniture. We were so tired I prayed there were no bedbugs. Additionally, the curtains were hanging off the track, the microwave was dirty, the front door had dirty splash stains, and the wallpaper was pealing/buckling . This had the appeal of motel written all over it vs a Hilton standard. This begs the question was room even cleaned or did someone just place a sticker on the door?!?! read more

Nice free air hockey and Pac-Man games for kids if adults aren't on them it is a blast from the past and FREE NO towels at pool but it was a nice place and I would stay again and recommend to anyone read more

One night Mr. S and I had a fight and I decided to go stay at a hotel. The Hilton had the best prices so I packed up and left. This place is currently located in the middle of nowhere, which isn't bad, I just wanted to note that. I suppose if you give it a few months that will change since developers are building like it's going out of style. Anyway, the staff at the Hilton made a bad situation very enjoyable. Everyone was so friendly! I ordered room service and it was delicious. I also liked the look of the hotel- business center, pool, clean lobby, nice restaurant...it was just a really good stay...especially considering the circumstances. As far as the hotel goes, I was happy. The room was clean and comfortable. I am a smoker and Steve at the front desk took note and promptly moved me to a room on the first floor since I didn't have the foresight to reserve a smoker friendly room. The only draw back was the toll roads and the sparse if non-existent selection for dining and entertainment. A short drive away provided a small strip mall type area in Sterling which has a movie theatre and some small restaurants, mostly fast food. I chose this hotel for the price and proximity to the airport. It was troublesome because I spent extra money traveling to and from DC. This is understandable because you can't go anywhere in DC without exacting some toll. But I would have been able to get a hotel closer to DC for the extra dollars that tolls took from my wallet. Make sure to have cash, change, and a card ready since the tolls don't really seem to be standardized from here to DC. read more

After weeks of round the clock days caring for an ill family member, I checked into this busy hotel, but there was no parking. Zero. Not even at the hotel next door. Zilch. When I parked at check in the gentleman at the front desk said, "Yes, ma'am, I have a spot for you." Then he moved his own personal car, gave me his parking spot . THAT is extra mile customer service. Almost all the staff is like that, making sure we have what we need. Likely I looked as exausted as I felt but that gentleman and his customer service is the main reason I'd give this place a 5 star rating. The lack of parking is why I'd give it a 1. Their clean pretty rooms & nice servers in the dining room pull up the ranking too, hence the 4. ... Several days later, now I would like to add that there have been several people more at this hilton who have given exceptional service to my family and I. They deserve a 5 plus. This was the worst hotel I've ever visited. It was filthy on the hallway floors as well as in my room. Hair on the bathroom floor and stains on the carpet. The lock on the door was broken and the TV didn't work or turn on. I would never go back to this hotel again. It is a health hazard. Oh, and the breakfast for $11.95 was tasteless and minimal. My only complaint was breakfast service was a bit slow. Seemed like they were understaffed or perhaps in need of training. My go-to hotel each week when I am in Northern Virginia. Very helpful and friendly staff at both the front desk and the restaurant. Easy parking. Breakfast is wonderful. Awful customer service. The hotel oversold their rooms for the weekend, and bumped me to a different hotel. They made no effort to communicate this with me prior to my check in. After an already rough day of travel and later than anticipated arrival, I was abruptly informed by the front office staff that I was moved to the Aloft, which at least was right next door. This didn't bother me so much - until I went to check into the Aloft, and they informed me that I was apparently expected to only stay there for one night, and then move BACK to Hilton for the remainder of the weekend. Also, the room I was bumped to was much different and less expensive than the room I had booked at Hilton - yet, Hilton offered me absolutely nothing to accommodate for the difference (until I complained, and more on that later). Really, Hilton? You oversold your rooms, didn't even TRY to communicate with me or offer any sort of apology for the inconvenience, bumped me to a room of lesser value, and THEN expected me to switch hotels again after one night? The woman working the late shift at Aloft was so incredible. I was fired up and grumpy, but she remained so patient and kind. She understood my frustrations (could that be because this happens often...?), and did everything in her power to make the situation better. She extended my stay at Aloft so I wouldn't have to switch rooms, promised that I'd be given the best available rate instead of being charged the amount that Hilton had wanted to charge me, and even treated me to a bag of Dorritos. While perhaps a small gesture, I was starving and nothing nearby was open. That bag of Dorritos was gold! Obviously unhappy with the Hilton, I called their customer service line. It was of no assistance. I spoke with someone who was trying to help me out, but then he put me on hold for 10 minutes only to never return. The next day, I received an e-mail from Hilton customer service stating that they "understand that the hotel contacted me" and that "complimentary breakfast" was provided. Neither of these were true. Nobody from Hilton Garden Inn Dulles North contacted me. NOBODY. I'm actually still at Aloft for the weekend, and even after informing Hilton's customer service team that I have NOT in fact been contacted by the hotel or offered free breakfast, they STILL have not contacted me! I specifically asked customer service for the name of who I could directly speak with, and also stated that I expected to be refunded for the difference in cost of the room that I was bumped to compared to the one I had booked. NO RESPONSE. So that's how Hilton treats their customers. Look, I understand how it goes with hotels. They purposely oversell because it typically works out. I get that. I wouldn't have minded being bumped, had they simply communicated with me or made even minimal effort to make up for the inconvenience. They've done nothing of the sort. The Aloft Dulles North, on the other hand, has been nothing short of phenomenal. Christine (the manager) and her staff are rock stars. I'd recommend staying with them instead. Christine has rolled the red carpet out for me, and I can tell that she does this for all of her guests. She genuinely cares that her guests have a great experience and it is palpable. The entire staff seems to truly care that their guests have a great stay. From the insanely sweet woman working the late shift who turned my night around, to the bartender bringing guests together in rolling laughter, the place just has such a great vibe. I wish I had booked with Aloft in the first place, and in the future, that will always be my choice over the Hilton. read more
