We enjoyed a one night stay in the Stallion Suite. The staff were incredible. From the moment we arrived to our departure, everyone's attitude was friendly, helpful and informative. The property is massive. Driving onto the grounds brings us to the inn. There is plenty of walking and exploring. The pool area also has lawn games and a fire pit. Our room was perfectly cleaned. The massive king size poster bed was very comfortable. This suite included a sitting area in the bedroom. Then, down our private hall, we had a small living room and coffee station. The mini fridge was stocked with sodas and water. I ordered room service twice and the food was delicious and well prepared. This place is a great getaway even for one evening.

It is tough to write this review because I would like to review both the restaurant and the Inn separately, but there does not seem to be a way. So here are two reviews: Goodstone Inn - Loved this place. It is a series of houses scattered across a working farm. We stayed at the Manor House. There were three couples in our group, so we took three of the four bedrooms. All were spacious and well appointed. But we also really enjoyed the dining room area, the living room, the sunroom, the patio and all of the little hidden hallways. Just a perfect place for our group. While on property we also enjoyed the pool for a relaxing afternoon, a walk around the property and the restaurant. More on the restaurant later. Goodstone was a convenient and very scenic drive from downtown Middleburg and a great central location for visiting wineries. I highly recommend staying at the Inn. The Goodstone Restaurant Breakfast. As guests of the Inn, we had breakfast there every morning included in our room rate. That is usually a signal that breakfast will not be very good. Wrong ... it was excellent every day. Our group tried everything on the menu over our 4 mornings and loved every item. Two items need to be pointed out. The eggs, no matter how prepared were the best eggs any of us had ever had - fluffy, flavorful and moist. The Smoked and House Cured Salmon on multigrain toast. I have had smoked salmon for breakfast around the world and this was without question the best breakfast salmon dish I have ever tasted. The salmon itself, the egg, cream cheese, the herbs and the onion were mixed and prepared to perfection. The Goodstone Restaurant Dinner: We ate in the restaurant for one of the Bistro Dinners, not the fancy dinners. Excellent lighter fare for our first night in town. Lots of salads at our table, all very good. My wife and I also shared an Herb Chicken which was perfectly prepared. Service seems a bit spotty during the evening. Especially compared to the excellent breakfast service. I would still make the decision to eat one meal here, but if not staying on property, I would not seek it out. Breakfast on the other hand - come from any hotel and experience this on. So, conclusion. I would give the Inn overall 5 stars. I would give the restaurant 5 stars for breakfast. I would give the Bistro restaurant for dinner 3 1/2 stars. I guess that leads to a 5 star overall.

It's a stunning inn tucked away from the middleburg town center. I bought a day pass to the pool. I checked inside and ordered food which was delivered to be poolside. They have restrooms with free water and towels. They have a bathroom and a shower. Just only one of each so not best for busy times. The pool was cool temperature. Unfortunately there was several bees and flies around the pool that don't make it an enjoyable experience hearing a constant noise of buzzing. The pool went from 3.5 feet up to 7 feet. There was no lifeguard. The pool lounge chairs are on muddy grass surrounding the pool. The pool has the view of peaceful farm and fields of grass. It sounds like nature and buzzing of course. It was rather sunny day which was nice to relax by the pool. The server would come by often to take orders by the pool and of course deliver the food as well. You could pay by the pool too.

This was my first time at Goodstone, but it won't be my last. We arrived on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday and decided on the complete trust menu. The service: attentive, detail oriented, warm. The food: to die for. The chef came to the table at one point to finish a dish for us. Overall, it made the experience that much more exciting. I loved the A5 wagyu with shaved truffles. It was so buttery and obviously very fresh. I also loved the root vegetable dish. Every detail was very well thought out. We were here for three hours so the full trust menu was a lot. Don't get me wrong- it's worth it, but I was stuffed by the end.

This review is for staying at the Inn, dining there for multiple meals, doing a guided farm tour, a kayak excursion, a hiking excursion, using the pool and hot tub. The entire experience was a solid 4.5 !! We did one of the rooms in the stables as they feel the most authentic and antiquated- and it did NOT disappoint! Gorgeous - well appointed- and even luxurious in its antiquities and finishes. Our room had a clawfoot tub and shower attachment and it was beautiful. All the accouterments in the bathroom for toiletries and in the mini kitchenette corner were very generous and well thought out. The font desk manager (amber I think?) was amazing in helping us line up all we wanted to do with the 48 hours we were there. The farm manager - an adorable young woman - truly made my birthday feel special with some produce and eggs we were gifted, and just helped us feel one with nature! We LOVED visiting all the animals and learning about them. The new excursions lead - a young man- made our kayaking trip fun and adventurous and we felt safe at all times, even when it started to rain. Absolutely do a hike with him and if you're lucky- some cows will come right up to you along the way ! There is a lot to do between hiking biking kayaking peddle boarding - a gorgeous salt water pool and lovely hot tub. Our room felt like an oasis in and of its self! If they installed an infrared sauna by the area were you get massages - they'd be ALL SET ! Meals at the primary restaurant were delicious - farm to table - and the BEST sorbet outside of Italy was had for desert, no lie! Our mattress wasn't the most comfortable for me (I prefer firm) but would still go back!

We dined at Goodstone for two different evenings for two distinct dining experiences. First, The Bistro offers a laid-back, enjoyable meal of a chicken BBQ sandwich on a brioche bun and chicken piccata, which are both delicious. Sephafina was attentive and knowledgeable about the offerings As a houseplant enthusiast, I find many plants make the atmosphere homey. The second night, The Conservatory at Goodstone Inn. A seven-course tasting

Loved our dinner experience here! From the moment we arrived, I felt at home. Our waitress was superb. It was our anniversary and she offered complimentary champagne for my husband and sparkling cider for me. The onion soup was amazing, as was the filet mignon. My husband ordered the charcuterie board and risotto. Everything was just perfect, delicious, heavenly. We finished with crepes and creme brûlée (best I've ever had). Grateful we found this place! Will be back.

Ehhhh! Quality to quantity to price is way off. You're being charged for a Michelin star when the food is not there. Very disappointing, honestly. We went with a party of six adults. Food was good but not THAT good. We had various dishes off the menu and everyone had the same thoughts. Excessive prices. We had, as a group, 6 main dishes and 4 appetizers plus six mixed drinks and it was $1000. That's too much for what we received, considering the quality. Overall, more like 2 1/2 stars because the restaurant decor, ambiance and grounds were immaculate and beautiful. I mean this whole place is so nice. No complaints there at all. Such a nice setting to have dinner, it really was a perfect spot. Just understand what you're getting into with food quality/quantity/pricing.

The parking was easy to access and real close to the venue. The ceremony was nice, but the chairs were very close together and they didn't put any extra chairs out. They only had enough chairs for the number of people who attended. (I didn't appreciate this during COVID.) Furthermore, some people's view was blocked by pillars. This continued into the reception. We couldn't see some of the dancing and speeches because of the pillars. The Barn has one big room that is separated into by a partition for cocktail hour. I was surprised that all 100+ people easily fit in this smaller area. Part of the reason it worked was because they have a nice little loft where some people went for cocktail hour. As for the acoustics, I give this place 5 out of 5 stars. Granted it has a lot to do with the quality of the DJ's speakers, but it has good acoustics. The aesthetics of The Barn were okay. I feel like they were confused as to what they wanted to do when designing the space. They have 2 beautiful chandeliers that would be a perfect fit in a ball room, but don't work with the wood features. The last thing that I found a little distasteful was that you could see the tables that were going to be used for the reception during the ceremony.

The owners Georgia and Peter were incredibly supportive, and gave sage advice throughout our planning process. In addition, Alyson, who handles the emails for the farm, was always incredibly quick to provide responses to our questions, and was a pleasure to communicate with. We visited the venue a couple times throughout 2019 between January and our wedding this past September. It takes some imagination to picture how the grounds would look like on your wedding day, because it transforms so much with each season. However, we thought it was gorgeous and made for a terrific backdrop each time we visited regardless of the season. The farm is between an hour to an hour and a half outside of D.C. so it is a fantastic option for getting a rustic venue space that is still accessible for our friends living in the city and the families flying in to Reagan or Dulles. There is a lot of flexibility for events at East Lynn Farms, which may be a stressor for couples depending on their appetite for DIY versus a turnkey wedding option. The farm includes some decorations and a list of recommended vendors, but we were not restricted to the list as long as the vendors we chose had the appropriate license and insurance. The farm allows you to provide our own beverages for events, and we were able to save quite a bit by sourcing our drinks from Costco rather than ordering through the caterer. My wife and I were initially worried about how hot might be at the tail end of Summer, and we contemplated renting fans or A/C units for the wedding. Thankfully, Georgia advised us that the surrounding mountains provided the area with a cooler ambient temperature and a reasonable breeze that negated the need for that hefty expense. On our wedding day, the weather was perfect! Even at the peak of the afternoon it never got so hot that it was uncomfortable to wear a suit jacket, and at the end of the night it wasn't so cold that one needed a jacket. There's no limit of the amount of praise and recommendations my wife and I would give to East Lynn! We honestly couldn't have imagined a better place to have our wedding!

Simple questions about the wines were met with "I don't know, ask someone else," which took away from the experience. Later, family and friends joined us, bringing the group to around 14 people. Everyone continued purchasing wine, drinks, and food throughout the visit, but the manager told us we needed to move outside despite many open tables being available. We offered to split into smaller groups, but the situation quickly became confrontational and included threats to remove us from the property. Had there been policies for larger groups or additional fees, we would have completely understood if they had been communicated upfront. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most disappointing winery visits I've ever had. What started as a small group of four gradually grew as friends and family who were already wine tasting in the area stopped by to say hello and join us. Once management expressed concern about the group size, we immediately offered to separate into smaller groups and fully complied when asked to move outside. Despite this, the manager, Don, repeatedly threatened to remove us from the property and later doubled down on those comments when I spoke with him privately away from the group. What made the situation especially frustrating was that the property and indoor seating areas were largely empty at the time. We had already purchased multiple bottles of wine, people in our group were continuing to buy food and drinks, and there were several open tables available. The interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and disproportionate to the situation. Even more confusing, during my private conversation with Don, he mentioned there was a higher-priced option available for larger groups -- but this was never offered to us beforehand. Had that been communicated respectfully, we could have made an informed decision. Instead, the approach was confrontational from the start. Unfortunately, the poor experience extended beyond the seating issue. Early in the visit, when we asked staff basic questions about the wines and the property, the responses were dismissive and uninformed. One employee repeatedly told us "I don't know" when we asked about the wines, the grapes grown on-site, and even what was being served in the frozen wine machine. Part of the joy of visiting wineries, for me, is learning about the wines and engaging with staff who are passionate about the experience, and that hospitality was completely absent here. There are many wonderful wineries in the area that make guests feel welcomed and valued. Sadly, this was not one of them. We left feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and disappointed after what should have been a celebratory afternoon.
