I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Gilroy and honestly had a great experience from start to finish. I'll note that the hotel is slightly dated, but don't let that deter you--I actually had a much better stay here than at the newer location on the other side of the freeway. I arrived late at night and headed to the bar for a quick bite. I was immediately greeted by one of the friendliest bartenders--I wish I caught their name. The whole atmosphere felt welcoming, like a place where travelers actually connect and feel comfortable. The food completely exceeded my expectations for a hotel. I ordered the sweet chili wings (extra crispy), and they were cooked perfectly--crispy, flavorful, and genuinely impressive. The bartender was attentive without being overbearing, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked better than you'd expect from a hotel bar. The room itself was extremely clean, which is always a top priority for me. In the morning, I came down to a fresh, delicious breakfast that was the perfect start to the day. Overall, this stay was easy, comfortable, and way above what I expected. I'll absolutely be staying here again whenever I'm passing through Gilroy. read more

Although check-in is at 3:00, our room was not ready until 4:15. We waited in the lobby while others arriving after us got rooms. First available rooms are not given in the order of arrival. The bathroom had hairs in the bathroom, the bed is very soft and the room is dated with worn carpet. Worst of all, the night before arrival, 12 cars were broken into in the parking lot. The windows were broken into and items were stolen. Despite knowledge of this by management, there appeared to be no security in the parking lot. read more

The front desk person was very friendly and helpful. The chocolate chip cookies were still warm and such a nice welcome after a long drive. The room was okay, though it had a weird smell and we aired it out while we were out. With the window open, you could hear the freeway. We didn't try the continental breakfast since we had to leave before it opened on the weekend. We did have a credit we could use for breakfast or dinner, so we used it for the dinner. The fish tacos were okay ($20). My husband ordered a patty melt...there was a lot of meat, but there was no cheese at all...which makes it not a melt. Maybe the cook didn't know what a patty melt is. Maybe they were out of cheese so they compensated by adding in more meat. The meat had no seasoning though. So although we had a credit, we could have enjoyed food outside. I also wanted to write this review to warn other customers. The bill came with a weird 20% service charge that was not tip and not tax. There was a line for the room number which we filled, because we knew we had a credit. But my husband wanted the charge on a different credit card. Instead of asking for clarification since both a room number and a credit card was provided, they just charged the credit card and we were charged the full bill. I suspect the service charge is also for people who are not guests in the hotel. So we brought it up with the front desk person who got it fixed. She later told us that we should have charged it to the room............ So if you are NOT a guest, don't eat at this place. If you are a guest, make sure you don't get the 20% service charge and if you do, question it. And don't forget to charge it to the room. In the end, we were not charged the 20% service charge and we were able to avail of the credit. read more

This "Hilton" doesn't honor any third-party reservations, and they don't tell you until you arrive at the hotel. We booked through Chase Travel, but when we arrived they said they had no rooms and were having a "global outage" that was preventing them from receiving notice of any third-party booking. (No idea if this was true, or if they simply were able to get more money for the room.) We were left with no place to stay and ended up having to drive several hours home with a very cranky toddler. We also had to spend over an hour and half on the phone with Chase to simply get a refund. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel. Maybe if you book directly with them, they will hold your room, but I would not be confident. read more

Overall, solid for what you pay. But what I really appreciated was the customer service and hospitality from one of the people at the front desk: Elaine. Elaine was an absolute pleasure and assisted us with our stay. She was extremely informative of what events were going on locally and suggested spots to go to. Additionally, she was able to switch our room immediately once we got into the first room; unfortunately, our first room smelt of smoke and we called the front desk and Elaine immediately switched our rooms and apologized for the inconvenience. Also, she was overall friendly to ALL her guests, which we noticed when we passed by the front desk and saw her escorting some folks to their rooms. In terms of the room, it was pretty standard, a little dated but the room was nice and air conditioned, bed was firm, and overall it was comfortable. Is this hotel the best? No, but what stood out was the great service we got. Would we come back here again? Sure, and we hope Elaine is there to assist us again. read more

Overall experience was good. We booked online 7 mos prior for the Garlic Festival and during checkin our room was not ready at 3 pm. Our family checked in the night before and there ck in was late by many hrs into the nezt morning- seems lack of staff someone said. The premise was nice and clean although hallway carpets could use a good stain cleaning. The lobby was beautiful with plenty of seating for social time and having a drink at the bar. Somethings were lacking in the room such as trash can liners, lighting. They offer great breakfast options and coffee downstairs for $15 or you can order from the menu. This hotel is located just a few minutes drive from cute downtown Gilroy. It has mentioned about freeway noise but honestly whether in the lobby or up on 3rd floor, we did not hear any disturbances. We did see alot of small & large dogs staying so this hotel IS pet friendly! I would recommend & will plan on returning here for our trips to come. Thank you Hilton. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. Seems fine in the lobby entrance. However the rooms seemed a bit dated. The carpet had several stains noted. The bathroom door had several "dings + dents". The shower stall had a rust/dirt stain in the corner of the shower railing. It appeared that there was only 1 person at the reception desk + several times there was no one at the desk. When I was going out the front entrance, there was a guest trying to check in but no one was covering the front desk. My room was close to the elevation, so I heard the elevator door ring when someone arrived to my floor. The location was good since located just off the freeway. read more

For starters there is no bag carts to get things up to your room. Quality control is really bad shower doors hanging off, phone in room don't work, front desk does not answer the phone, washer works but dryer is broken definitely not what I expected when booking a Hilton hotel. save time and money, the motel 6 next door and Hampton inn look a whole lot better. Rising Caltrain down to Gilroy, I signed up for their Hilton Honor Program. a bit scary without all the stores close by such as in San Mateo, but once I got to the Hilton their service is quite good warm friendly and quite a change of the rural Gilroy. 8/26/2023 - After spending an amazing day with family for a reunion picnic, this relaxing hotel finished our weekend with more promises. First, our check-in process was the quickest that I have ever experienced!!! Then, the room was big enough for us. It was just three of us and my grandson invited his cousin who was in another room to stay with us and we had room for him. My grandson had a bit of a problem setting up his PlayStation and called and asked for help. The young man that checked us in was the one who came to the rescue!!!! My grandson was happy and didn't know he was going to entertain three more of his cousins from another room. They smiled and laughed until their parent and grandparent called them back to the room to go to sleep. One got a chance to stay because he was invited to stay over by my grandson. We woke up early to take advantage of the pool and hot tub, this hotel just kept on giving. My grandson did get a chance to enjoy breakfast, which he said was good!!! My granddaughter & myself aren't breakfast people, we would rather get a few Z's! But on this day, I felt fully rested enough and awoke early. I woke my granddaughter up and asked her if she would like to go swimming before we checked -out, which meant another shower. Her brother was already in the pool when we went down. They were able to swim for about 45 mins. We went back upstairs for their showers and checked out!! We took our time and enjoyed driving by Levi Stadium & Great America and took in some more sights before having lunch. We finally decided to go home which took awhile due to traffic. Thank you Hilton for giving us a restful and fun day. At first I thought the rate was a little steep, but after enjoying a nice room and all the amenities, the rate was just fine!!!! read more

Soooo.....between the time I fell asleep last night at 10:45pm and the time I woke up this morning at 5:45am, this happened. Ants EVERYWHERE, all over the wall, all over the nightstand, even a few in bed with me (awesome). I decided the best thing to do was not touch anything and let the front desk know. I reported this to the front desk at 6:30am and let them know I would be back around 2:00-3:00pm. I did a lovely hike at Pinnacles National Park and returned to my room around 1:30pm. The ants were still there, it was obvious no one had been in the room. I went back to the front desk and reported it again (to I believe the same person) and was told, "Really? I think he's been up there." Uh no, he hasn't. Maintenance person was in the room almost immediately after that, can of Raid in hand. I pointed out that it was pretty easy to see where they were coming in and out and asked if he could caulk up the hole where they were entering and exiting. He said no. I not-so-jokingly asked for a piece of Scotch tape. I was told, "Once I spray the line, they usually don't come back." Um ok. Now I have a nightstand covered in Raid and dead ants. I started wiping the nightstand with a wet washcloth hesitantly when I got another knock on the door. Housekeeping! Yay! Maintenance must have asked her to come by to clean up the Raid residue and dead ants. I opened the door and let her in, started telling her about the bugs, and all I got was "No ingles." Now she's puttering around my room making the bed and cleaning the bathroom. I just need someone to clean the dead ants. This is unreal read more

The staff here leads with so much empathy and they are so kind when my child and I had missed out on the opportunity for boo Fest. They did what they could to refund my money so I could come back another time when boo Fest at Gilroy Gardens was open. I forget the young lady's name, but she has short black wavy hair and I think she's worked at Hilton for a long time. She's amazing with children. I messed up my child's birthday by not being there in time for Gilroy Gardens as they were closed the next day. I was crying. My son was crying that I ruined his birthday. I enjoyed my stay here. I always like the Hilton Garden brands. The hotels aren't too badly priced, good amenities, free breakfast, and pretty big rooms. We stayed in Gilroy not for tourism but for family obligations. There's no really good newer hotels in the area. This is pretty far from main area and a little on the bad side of town but it's slowly improving. There's a park across the street and you can walk the levee. The hotel also comes with free bottles water at the front and green boxes breakfast! Which is a great amenity, just the little things matter and we value it. The room was decent. The AC worked. There's a refrigerator and a microwave. The shower had a good flushing toilet and a shower with doors. I hate that they didn't give you an extra roll of toilet paper. So we had to ask. The bed was comfortable and there's a desk to work. One major con was how dirty the room floors were. On the floors We found Cocoa Puffs, pennies, Bobby pins, orange peels and tissue paper that they didn't pick up or vacuum. We did check the bed to make sure it's clean and it was. Just the floors, seems they don't vacuum. Bar was opened one night. Free parking and convenient next to the freeway. For Gilroy, you'll need to lower expectations. And we did but surprised this was pretty good. read more

Warning: Hotel does not strictly enforce mask-wearing for their customers/visitors. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn (Gilroy) this past weekend for a weekend getaway to visit the general area and Pinnacles National Park. I really wanted to like this HGI property, but sadly I must leave a negative review on my recent experience here. Pros: Hotel is clean, they provide breakfast boxes during COVID, lots of water bottles to keep guests hydrated, staff wear masks. I've stayed at plenty of HGIs in the past (as I am a Hilton Elite member), so their offerings are pretty standard here. Cons: The biggest problem of this HGI is that the staff do not enforce mask wearing for guests or visitors in the common areas (e.g. lobby). I saw a few folks in the lobby without facemasks, despite signs posted all over the building staying that masks are required. For example, I saw an older gentleman construction worker who was rummaging in the breakfast food area sans mask. The construction worker was even talking with the front desk guy. The front desk guy didn't even tell the construction worker to put on his mask, even as they were conversing. Not COVID-safe at all! I understand that things are easing up with CDC recommendations and with vaccinations; however, the staff being lax with social distancing requirements/mask wearing is unacceptable for a hotel given the unprecedented times and is contradictory with their own posted signs and policy. Given that the staff are not strictly enforcing mask wearing for customers in public areas at the hotel, I do not recommend this HGI. Not safe during COVID. read more

Wonderful stay! Great staff, accommodating and helpful. Comfortable room. I had a technical issue with the AC (which was actually my fault) and the technician came to check within 10 minutes. The pool was nice, we spent some time there. Both pool and hot tub weren't heated because technical parts are in supply shortage. Breakfast was loaded with hot options - scrambled eggs, sausage bacon, potatoes - lots of options including bagels, muffins, pastures, cereals, yogurt, and a variety of juices, milk, coffee. The staff was super accommodating of my 5 YO daughter and I, very helpful and thoughtful, and able to accommodate my late check out request (THANK YOU!) Stayed there 7/23-7/24 2022. We walked in and I showed Lilith the price from the internet and she said rather curtly "No sorry we don't price match" it would have been nicer to simply say but if you book the room I'd be happy to check you in So I said if I make the reservation can we check in and she said yes! While checking in I asked about the jacuzzi and she says no sorry the jacuzzi is being fixed so I said is the pool heated? She says I'm not sure I said can we get a room close to the pool and she says yes I can give you a room with a view of the pool I said great anticipating sitting in the sun by the pool! Get up to the room and open the curtains only to see that the pool is completely empty and under construction Now why would anyone ask about the pool if they didn't want to use it? Very poor communication on her part and very disappointing for the customer who could have paid the same amount for a room with access to the pool and jacuzzi The room was very clean and comfortable and the restaurant food was very good!! Other staff members were very friendly and helpful but if someone asks about the pool and jacuzzi please be clear about its availability not everyone sees it on the website and I don't remember seeing it when I booked the room from a third party site online. The customer is paying for these amenities be clear about the availability because your not getting a discount for things that are not available!! read more

Pros: room is laid out well, nice large LG TV that we could hook our Roku stick up to, lots of charging outlets in the lamps, clean except for ants (see below). The breakfast had a lot of offerings - eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, cereals, pastries, breads, oatmeal, fruit, etc. but waffles and a few other things were extra cost. Cons: ants in the bathroom that got into my closed pill case, and crawled all over everything laid out on the vanity. The front desk says it's ant season, that the ants crawl up the cool pipes and someone could come spray. We didn't want any poison spray so declined and put our stuff elsewhere. We tried not to lean against the vanity while brushing teeth etc as they were lined up right along the edge and under the lip. But I'm curious when housekeeping sees the ants, why isn't the room treated before guests stay in it. -If you don't like scents, then you won't like the lobby and dining area. It smells like someone put on too much aftershave. I mean, a LOT of it. My husband even noticed and these things do not usually bother him at all. It's overpowering. For those like me it gave me a headache. -The hallways and lobby are not air conditioned and the staff say they have no idea why. The person working the desk was wiping the sweat off his forehead and was sitting next to a portable air conditioner. They just had the one in the lobby blowing where guests check in. -One of the two elevators stopped working but was fixed by the time we got back. -The breakfast has a $13 fee unless your reservation included it. We had to ask if it was included or if we had misunderstood when we made our reservation. It turns out our Breakfast was included, but that information was not told to us until we asked. Overall: not worth the money. Not the excellence or even the standard you would expect from a Hilton labeled hotel. I think Hilton must be neglecting this one. Too bad, it has a lot of potential to be great. read more

Stayed here many times. Always had decent wifi. Somehow internet went from decent to garbage. Would rate 3.5 stars if the internet worked. Oh... forgot to mention... tried switching rooms to fix the wifi. Staff were very helpful in that regard. Funny thing though, the telephones in 2 out of the 3 rooms were not working. Five stars for sure for my recent dining experience! Laura and Edgar both are excellent. Laura gave great recommendations for entrees and especially those tasty desserts. Edgar made a fresh pot of strong coffee for use to enjoy. Dinner staff very friendly and efficient. Reasonable food portions and all meals were made fresh to order. HGI dining has daily specials as well as vegetarian dishes. There are drink specials daily and many TVs throughout for you to enjoy. Tonight's was Tom and Jerry. Hilarious! We stay here when we visit Gilroy Gardens. Meaning, we've stayed here a lot. This is a mid-range hotel and is a 5 star in that category. Superb, friendly service, great breakfast buffet and clean!!! Also the beds are comfy and the hotel itself looks modern. I grew up as the daughter of a hotel manager. I have high standards not only for facilities, but for service. This place meets my standards by far. This isn't a Ritz (honestly, I kind of prefer the Hilton Garden Inn to the Ritz so maybe there's something wrong with me). The rooms have a mini fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee makers (no need for them as they have coffee in the lobby in the morning). We got takeout from Garlic City and brought it back to eat in our hotel rooms (too tired to deal with restaurants after the theme park). I loved being able to heat my food back up later on. Also - for parents, the two most beautiful words in the English language: adjoining rooms. Ok maybe the 2nd most beautiful because: hotel bar. read more

Located right off the freeway. Location felt safe. Parking was easy. The entrance and lobby area had a nice energy. There's a bar and restaurant located on the opposite side of the check-in desk. I walked up to an empty counter and was greeted by a young lady after a few minutes. She had a bright smile and a friendly attitude. She informed us of the events going on and proceeded to check us in. The transaction was pleasant. Our room was on the 4th floor, room 442, with a king bed, desk and lounge chair. The window faced the freeway exit (not the best if you're expecting a quiet night). The bed and pillows were comfortably soft. It was like sleeping on a cloud. The entire room was clean and fresh smelling. The bathroom was spotless. Good in-room amenities. We ordered room service and had a few snacks and a meal brought up. Hummus platter with raw veggies, cheese/meat charcuterie, buffalo wings, and Turkey avo panini meal with chips/cookie/drink. It arrived to our room within 20 min. Overall, good stay. Next time, I'd stay in a room where the window did not face the highway. read more

This inn is located near the highway though there was no problem with traffic noise. We were warmly greeted at check-in and provided with a few dining recommendations in response to our questions. Our room was nicely furnished and spotless. Should our future travel plans again require lodging in Gilroy, we most likely will book this hotel again. read more

When I stayed here on Saturday for one night, the first room we were given had the glass from the window almost completely separated from the frame. So, we had the front desk give us another room. No biggie. Then, the next room given already had a guest in it. The third room given to us ALSO had the glass separating from the frame, making it an incredibly noisy and uncomfortable stay (you could hear the freeway with abandon due to the broken window). I would assume that is also a safety hazard as the glass could have fallen at any point and caused injury to a guest. Then, to top all this off, we went to speak with a manager on Sunday morning, to hear they weren't working that day and that the front desk didn't even have a card for the manager so we could contact them directly. We barely received an apology and the front desk attendant, while doing what we assume was his best, didn't offer us any kind of help to resolve our issues beyond a shrug. And, to make things worse, we were charged $313 dollars for our stay (more than $75 than what we booked at). Apparently, there is a pet cleaning deposit that was NOT DISCLOSED to us. We will NEVER be staying at a Hilton again. We will also be contacting your corporate offices because this is inexcusable. We have attempted to get ahold of the manager for 3 days. No luck. Left a very angry message with the front desk today (Tuesday the 26th of September). I'm copying this review to ALL REVIEW BOARDS I CAN FIND. Actually we were greeted by one of the most over the top comfortable multi compartmental abundant seating with duo viewing fireplace huge lobby for a Hilton Garden Inn - 5 Stars! The heated pool, which is open all year around and the surrounding amenities of tables on Bralla's and lounge chairs with towels already on each of them is pristine - 5 Stars! The rooms are absolutely in need of renovation and though they have high ceilings and are equipped with Keurig machines, mini refrigerators, etc, they are in definite need of updating - Yelp Stars too low now to even state as the rooms don't flow with their beautiful lobby, front desk, restaurant & dining area, nor their pool! Literally everything is out of order. The elevators started having issues our second day, pool closed, cappuccino machine closed, no A/C in the lobby and hallways. Housekeeping staff were yelling at each other across the hall all morning long to the point where our TV was on the highest volume and we still could not drown them out.
