We needed a hotel/motel for one night with a late check-in, in a safe area, and most importantly--clean! The Gilroy Inn did not disappoint! The gentleman at the front desk was friendly, helpful, and very polite--even with our late arrival. Our room was spacious, clean, and fresh! It smelled and looked so clean when we walked in, which is always a BIG plus after a long day of traveling! The location was super convenient--right off the highway, with a Denny's across the street and a 76 Gas Station nearby. Perfect for a quick overnight stop! We were very happy with our stay and would definitely stay here again if we're back in the Gilroy area. read more

I am very generous for giving them one star rating. The worst motel that we stayed in recently. I had a difficulty with walking due to recent foot surgery and asked whether we could have a first-floor room. The desk guy said: We need to pay additional $ 12.00 for the first-floor room and they had some empty rooms at first floor!! That was not the only problem. They didn't have smoke detectors on the celling. It was ripped off!! The little refrigerator didn't have knob and was making a loud noise without keeping our stuff cold!! Lots of our fruit got spoiled. The shower head was spaying tiny amount of water. I thought O was taking shower with an eyedrops The stairs that were going to the second floor was very uneven for the first 4 stairs. Total health hazard. On top of that they charged us $1 38.75 via booking.com, when their advertised rate was for 2023 was $75.00. No one should stay at this hotel for such a lousy service. The room was absolutely disgusting. The bathroom smelled like mildew. The microwave was covered inside and out in a white and brown substance, as was the refrigerator. The chair was threadbare. I asked management for a new room. The two men I spoke with were rude and dismissive and told me there were no other rooms available, despite the parking lot being empty other than one car besides ours. The people above us literally stomped all night. The only reason we stayed was because we had been driving for 10 hours straight and were still 5 hours from home, and it was 10:00 PM. Horrible customer service. Their office wrecks, I made a reservation on hotels.com and was denied a room. I specifically called ahead to make sure if their was rooms available and the guy on the phone told me yes and abruptly hung up on me. When I showed up and told him he said I wasn't specific, yet the bastard hung up on me before I could even get another word. I been on the phone with hotels trying to get a refund since this dude is no help at all. He did not want to let our emotional Support dog, the room was not particularly clean, the smoke alarm was missing and the refrigerator was loud, making a buzzing sound. Walked in the front office and BOOM got slapped in the nose by dudes wife cooking up curry something in the back like I really smelt it in my room that's how they got down here really big time now you mix garlic because you are in garlic capitol of the world plus motel curry and you got a fun night of smells at no extra charge :) I'd stay again right off the 101 convenient for me that day. Room was clean and the shower sucked but cmon I didn't pay a 1000$ so I know what to expect plus I'm a man and not a wee lil baby who's gonna complain about a smudge on the mirror. read more

Staying in town for a wedding we looked for a cheap two night stay but I guess you get what you pay for. The worst part is my first complaint; the clerk at the desk. He refused us more towels, when we asked the number to the office he didn't tell us, instead he told us that it's good exercise to walk back to the office if we needed anything. Then he was rude by telling us to leave the office. Inside the rooms nothing worked including the TV remote, the hair dryer burnt out while in use and the sink was leaking enough to wet my feet. The DAY OF the reservation, we received a voicemail saying the room reservation was outright cancelled because the card on file had expired (granted we booked over a year ago), and "according to California state law, the hotel retains the right to cancel and rebook appointments." In a money grab move to take advantage of the higher demand weekend, this place rebooked our room for triple the price. The Gilroy Inn has confirmed everything was in order just two weeks prior. They made absolutely no attempt to reach out or obtain updated credit card info. We landed after 8 hours on a plane to find we were without a bed to sleep in for the next four days. The Gilroy Inn does not honor its appointments. The Gilroy inn exhibits absolutely deplorable customer service. I would not recommend this abhorrent and seedy outfit to my enemies. VERY DISAPPOINTING. It's not a bad motel, but early in my stay, when I found I had to leave one night earlier than I booked, THE MANAGER WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY for the final night. Hotels.com confirmed to me that once the motel has your money it's up to them whether they want to refund you or not. Basically I was robbed. DO NOT STAY HERE. This hotel left us stranded. We made a telephone booking at 2pm. Advised that we were coming from the hurricane (where we had been stranded for 2 days) therefore we did not know whether we would arrive at 5pm or 8pm. We asked if that was ok, and the receptionist advised that that was fine. Flights eventually started taking off again, and we arrived in California at 7pm. We started driving to Gilroy Inn and rang to advise that we were on our way. The receptionist man very rudely stated that he had no rooms available. We explained we had a booking as we had spoken to him (yes the same man) just 5 hours prior. He said that because we hadn't arrived he had given our room away. He was EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. We were exhausted after being stuck in an airport for several days, and then had to spend 3 hours driving around the local towns trying to find accommodation (as there was a conference and the surrounding towns were 98% booked out on online websites). We asked what the point was of him taking our booking was if he was just going to give the room away. He was extremely impolite and unhelpful. Pretty comfortable. We only stayed for one night. The bed and sheets were clean. Furniture was pretty decent. No bed bugs. No hair in the drain or floss on the floor. The showers looked brand new however, the toilet room does not have a lock. T.v is pretty old but it's t.v. hbo channels. Wifi. Has fridge and hair dryer. Enough towels and toiletries. The owner was very friendly. We stayed there for a little over a week doing a promotion for a small local business. We paid for our stay out of our cash sales daily. Every morning when I paid for another night I always looked forward to a chance to talk to the owner for a few minutes. We talked about God and the nice community of Gilroy and Washington State where I was from. I took a real liking to him. When we left he was there to wave goodbye. As we were pulling out he asked me to sign the receipts for each day of our stay. I thought nothing of it. Normally I would've thought to get them but I was complacent due his friendly demeanour. We went to San Jose to do another leg of our trip. 3 days later I get charged 280.00 on my credit card from Gilroy inn.I wasn't too worried I was sure it was just an accidental oversight. So of course I called the owner to get it cleared up. Apparently he "forgot" that I had paid cash during my daily visits to the office where we chatted everyday. He coudnt remember me paying any cash. It must be tough remembering who paid what and when you have 12 units and half of them are filled with customers on any given day. He was sure I didnt use cash. After arguing on the phone for 5 minutes it became apparent I wasn't going to get credited the money back. He thought that I was long gone to Washington by now. Needless to say I was livid! I drove the 45 min drive from San Jose in 30 min. He was very surprised to see me. He denied any wrong doing to my face. I pointed to his cameras and said we can clear this right up.He pulled out the reciepts and showed me that I had signed the reciepts that showed I had paid by Credit Card. I said we should get the police involved before I get really mad. He said he was a reasonable man and gave me half the money back in cash and offered to let us stay there for free next time I was in town. I took the cash and learned a valuable lesson that day. Always get your reciepts when you pay cash and when someone tells you they are very religious don't bet on it. I feel like I just wrote a book. I wont be staying there again. read more

The Gilroy outlets, all types of restaurants, convenience stores, etc. are all within walking distance. Can't stress the location enough, it's great!! Walked in room and kids immediately commented on how clean the room smelled (wow)..The room was updated and very clean. The TV was dated...That was a bummer. Rooms are decent looking at first glance, however this hotel is not comfortable and has paper thin walls. I called management to complain about the party going on next door and on the balcony and he told me to call the police if I was bothered. After my second call he offered a room change. We were on our way home from Ukiah and decided to stay in Gilroy for the night. The room was decently priced and when we arrived noticed that it was right next to the Gilroy Outlet stores :) The people running the Inn are very polite and answered all our questions. The bathroom in our room looked as if it was recently redone, beautiful granite work. We had a microwave and fridge in the room. My only down factor was that the bed was awfully firm.
