We decided to stop by this afternoon remembering some of the excellent reviews we had read on Nextdoor a while ago. The owners were nice to talk to and found out this place has been open for 2 years. They do catering as well and we would certainly recommend for anyone wanting to drive to Concord from the east bay! As we weren't too hungry, we decided to sample few dishes without going overboard with our order. We asked for chicken momos, butter chicken, naans and vegetable (cauliflower) manchurian. All the items were delightful and generally when you eat Indian food you feel stuffed and heavy but not with their food which is great! Butter chicken had the nice level of tenderness with perfect level of sauce to taste. The manchurian (fried cauliflower in a glazed sauce) was cooked perfectly didn't give any hint of corn starch. read more

I decided to try this place as I have seen it many times when I go to ShareTea in Concord and it has gotten good reviews on Yelp and DoorDash. The place was pretty good but not amazing. I go the Butter Chicken with Rice and Naan. Everything was cooked well and flavorful. The Butter Chicken was good but not great. In Walnut Creek Saroor and Sargam both are better. But I would say this place is on par or even slightly better than Bombay Indian Resturant. The portion was big and very filling. I wish their Butter Chicken had a bit more flavor and the Naan was good but could have use da bit of butter glaze, like other places I have gotten Naan from. But honestly it the Naan was a bit thicker even made the same way I would have enjoyed it more. Don't get me wrong it was still pretty good. The rice was the weakest part as it was a bit bland. Well cooked but needed some saffron or something. It just felt like something was missing, I couldn't really put my figure on it. It was completely edible and fine, but compared to other Indian places I have gone to the rice was just bland. If you are in concord give them a shot, I would get food from them again if I am in Concord but next time I get Indian food I am going to stick with Saroor or Sargam and not just because Sargam's name reminds me of favorite Indian movies Singham! read more

So this place is not the most advertised and honestly hard to see from the street, but hands down it is one of the best places around for chicken tikka masala!!! My boyfriend and I have been on a hunt for really good Indian food and we are stoked to finally have found our new go-to place. The garlic naan is crispy yet soft, not too thick and full of flavor! The aloo gobi could use a bit more salt but loved the solid chunks of potato and cauliflower. If you order the goat curry, be prepared to pick out all the bones because there are many but it's worth the dig. The chicken momo are just like your average restaurant dumpling but with more ginger. Definitely elevated once you add the tamarind sauce that comes with it! The masala tea is more cardamom strong than cinnamon which was a nice change and they provide sugar so you can sweeten as you like. The chicken tikka masala has a good amount of tender chunks of chicken, slightly more tomato based than surrounding Indian restaurants (which I prefer), and a heavy hand of quality spice in terms of both heat and flavor. We left this place with leftovers for the next day and super happy with the attentive and friendly service and happy bellies. read more

Would give 0 or half star if I could. Being understaffed during COVID doesn't mean you throw food prep rules out the window. 2/4 of our party got food poisoning after eating here - it was our only shared meal of the day so it couldn't be anything else. Given that a kid was sitting in the bathroom almost the entire time I doubt the staff washed hands regularly and/or handled meat without rewashing. Food is really good! Everything we ordered was tasty, we asked for spicy for our spice level. Service was okay, we waited for about 10 mins for someone to attend us. I actually had to stand there and call their restaurant for anyone to notice someone is standing in the front. We did see people eating scattered throughout the restaurant which we thought were customers but later on realized they were the workers and who ended up serving us. For sure going back! This place is a must if you are feeling adventurous or not. What makes it even better are the friendly owners and atmosphere. I ordered take out but it was very inviting and unique photographs to admire. The food was great! We even received a complimentary rice pudding. A few weeks ago, while standing in line during my inaugural visit to Sharetea, I noticed Himalayan Cuisine tucked away in the back of the adjacent building that houses Starbucks and a couple eateries. I've always wanted to try Himalayan food and when I saw a sign saying they have a weekday lunch buffet, I was sold on trying them out. An Indian friend of mine and I went there for lunch today. We arrived at around 1:00pm. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the servers. As soon as we told her we were there for the buffet, she pointed at where our table was and told us to go right ahead to the food. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Go straight to the food!! The buffet consisted of six vegetarian dishes (okra/eggplant/potato/garbanzo beans/cabbage), four chicken/fish dishes (chili chicken, butter chicken, curry fish, and chicken tandoori), and a few other items. My friend recognized everything since they were all Indian dishes and he did not see anything Himalayan items in the buffet. Basically, we were eating Indian food with a Himalayan twist. I was disappointed, but no big deal as long as the food was good. The food was fresh since all the dishes were made in small batches. I really enjoyed the okra, eggplant, butter chicken, and curry fish. Overall, all the dishes weren't too spicy and they all had complex flavors. The garlic naan that came with the meal was the perfect vessel to mop up all the extra sauces. The staff was very polite and friendly, especially the owner. While I was getting food, he came up and introduced himself to me. He briefly explained the differences between Himalayan food and Indian food. I only got half of what he said (he spoke in the very soft voice), but the fact that he spent the time talking to me made a very good impression. The buffet costs $9.99 (drinks extra, no refills) and it runs from 11:00am to 3:00pm on weekdays. I love Himalayan Cuisine! We first tried it during the shelter in place and it was delicious, even after a 20 minute drive home. Everything is well packaged for takeout. The veggie momo are amazing, as well as the gobi manchurian, tikka masala, garlic naan, saga paneer and mango lassi. This is now on our regular to go list. The owner is very kind and friendly, it's usually ready faster than Yelp's estimate says. Oh and spicy is helllla spicy - which is awesome if you love that. It might not look special on the outside and might be empty on the inside but the food says otherwise! My go to are the Garlic Naan, chicken Tika Masala and white rice. I can live off of this for days! My girlfriend loves their buttered chicken that she stumbled across during lunch buffet. That's tasty too but I like a little spice in my sauce but that's my girlfriends go to. It can get pricey but it's definitely worth it! When we've come in here to dine in before this pandemic it was always dead and enjoyable to eat. Since it's only takeout now, which I don't mind, I'd say support this family owned restaurant! I like this place. Back when I was in undergrad, I used to frequent places with good deals. During the weekday lunch period, they had a lunch buffet that had many options on their menu. The food was tasty, although I felt like it could have used a bit more spice. I came back a few weeks ago with some friends from grade school. Between the three of us, we ordered 4-5 main items and 2 baskets of bread. The restaurant was fairly empty - only us and a table with a couple. Somehow, it took a good 20 minutes before our appetizer came. It took another 30 minutes for the rest of our items to show up after. Once it arrived, the items we ordered were great. Perfect amount of spice and seasoning. I just wished that, for the price, the portions would be bigger. It ended up being fairly costly, compared to other Indian/Nepalese restaurants, at a good $35-$40 per person. Note: There is usually a groupon for this. We didn't use one, but it can save you a couple of bucks. read more

We were out for dinner and decided to go to this place. To start, they do not have a wine or any drink menu. We were told he will bring a bottle of wine out to show and the next and next till we select one. We have never seen this one in eating out till that day. So I forgot the wine. The prices here compare to upscale Sakoon. Well - this place is not Sakoon. We ignored the prices since we were out for dinner. The food we asked for was "medium' spices". Every one of 3 meat items we ordered were super super spicy - impossible to eat. The little I ate was already hurting my stomach. Asked for full dish of raita, got a small sample and ended up eating naan with raita !! In all our eating out we have not been served this spicy Indian food anywhere in the world. I have no idea the food they serve is from which part of India/Nepal? We have banned ourselves from this restaurant. read more

Update: if you can't handle an order, don't accept it. The woman who took my called-in to go order was great on the phone. She read it back, gave me my total, and told me that it'd be 25-30 minutes. We showed up at the appointed time to be told it'd be another 25 minutes. We walked around the square, came back. We sat and waited for ANOTHER TEN MINUTES before the owner came and said it'd be another 15 minutes. This is ridiculous, honestly. It's one of our favorite places for years, but this isn't ok. We ordered right as the restaurant opened. An hour plus after our order, still no sign of our food. At least two other to go orders were picked up while we were sitting there waiting. I should have cancelled it when I arrived to pay. Good thing the food is yummy. But I was getting hangry while waiting. I'm not sure that we will be back. For the sake of the dozens of yummy meals, still 3 stars. If this was the first experience with this place, it'd be one star... and I probably wouldn't give them another shot. ------ This restaurant has just been added to our family's favorite roster!
