Was looking for a good hot pot place, and was in the Concord area. So I'll start with what I didn't love, but I did think it was a great gimmick for the area. The music was way too loud, almost like a night club - where you have to practically raise your voice to talk. It's great for guys, where their voice projects, but it's more difficult for anyone that has a bit higher. There are no tongs (but they will give you extra chopsticks). Also, the individual induction units are right on the table, instead of inset. This causes the potential of hot soup base spilling as a more likely experience for clumsy people. For the thing I love about this place? First... value for money. $29.99 per person for all-you-can-eat hotpot? This is amazing in this age where an entree is like $25-30. Appetizers are ordered 2 at a time, and meats are 6 at a time. Meats only come one on a thin tray, which holds about 4-6 slices. So you'll be ordering other helpings, since there are I believe 5 beef selections, and a pork and chicken selection (7) total. The middle of the restaurant is a large bar where you get everything that isn't a meat. The selection of vegetables, and noodles are pretty vast, and almost always refilled. The seafood area has shrimp, clams, tilapia, and mussels. Sauces area also on the sides which makes it pretty much an on-going motion. It's not the high-end of hot pot by any means, but the ambience that they're projecting works for the area that it's in and how they compete with the rest of the restaurants in the area. But for the money? I'd go here. We did sit in a side-middle area where it wasn't a booth. However, they made sure to separate out the seating so that if you were a group of 3, they situated in opposite ends to create space. That attentiveness of spacing actually created a better atmosphere which was a small thing, but a smart thing. Love that they actually celebrate birthdays with banging of pots, and wishing well. It's something that is fun for groups and definitely nice if you happen to be celebrating a birthday! Definitely will come back. read more

When we arrived, only bar seating was available, but we took it anyway because we were hungry and wanted to eat. They offer an extensive selection of food, and the quality is solid overall. Came here with my cousin's family and my kids because we were craving hot pot. This was my first time here. We got there a bit before 5, and got seated right away for a party of 7. Broth - you get to choose your own broth for your individual pot. When they do refill, they also refill with broth instead of hot water which is nice. I got the house broth and it was flavorful. Self-serve bar - the variety of items at the self-serve bar was ok. I have been to places where there were definitely more variety and better stocked. Meats - the meat was standard, and there was a good variety Service - we had to flag down our server multiple times for different reasons. Seems like she was pretty busy with the tables she had to cover, and couldn't check in on us that often. Overall, this is a decent hot pot place in the area. The appetizers were excellent, and what really stood out was how easy it was to keep ordering. Very attentive and came back countless times to ask if everything is good and if we wanted to order more of anything else. It is all you can eat on everything For the food honestly it's really good as for how it's prepared entirely up to you, they have a huge bar you go up to and grab whatever else you'd like to throw in your broth like green onion,garlic,noodles and so much more. Honestly it would be impossible try it all on the first trip, so definitely gonna have to go again to try different combinations. The appetizers are not many but they're not really the star of the show although they're all so very good so highly recommend trying at least one of each. I can definitely see there being a learning curve to this type of food because if you're not careful you can overcook whatever you put in your broth, I know I did so there is a little bit of juggling or paying attention at least. So don't feel discouraged You do have control over the heat of the hot plate in front of you so you can turn it up or down at any point. Food is great- thinly sliced beef and pork to cook in broth to your liking. They also have a cold bar for your noodles, vegetables and seafood. The sauce station elevates the soup/meat to over a 10. I like the Asian chili and soy sauce to dip my meat it. Baby Bear likes the yuzu. The apps are great too the soy glazed chicken and gyoza are always great! Only suggestion would be to bring back the designated metal tongs to place your raw meat in the broth. The plastic forks they offer, melt after some time. Maybe it was perfect timing -- we arrived around 6:15 p.m. on a Saturday night -- or maybe it's just easier to get a table for two. There's a 90-minute dining limit, so we ordered right away. For appetizers, we had Gyoza, Chicken Karaage, and Soy Glazed Chicken Karaage -- all delicious, and perfect for us since we're not into spicy food, but if you want spicy, they have that on the menu too. There are seven types of meat, and yes, we tried them all! Each one was fresh and flavorful -- definitely premium quality. The variety of sides, vegetables, and seafood was impressive, making it easy to build the perfect hot pot combination. My husband and I really enjoy dining at this restaurant. We often come here to celebrate family birthdays or just to hang out with friends. The prices are quite reasonable, there's plenty of seating, and the menu offers a good variety of food options. Every time I come, I always forget to bring my Thai-style suki dipping sauce! The staff can be hit or miss--sometimes very nice and attentive, and other times a bit indifferent--but we still keep coming back even though we live quite far away. The food might not be the absolute best we've ever had, but it's definitely worth the price. Parking can be a bit tough on weekends and holidays, but overall it's a good experience. Today our server, Kali G, was especially wonderful--very friendly and attentive. She kept checking in to see if we wanted more meat or appetizers. Came in with my boyfriend and another friend on a Saturday evening. We joined the waitlist after checking in with the host and were told it would be a 20-40 min wait, which was accurate. It's located in a plaza where there's plenty of other things to look, shop, or sit at, so time flew by. I checked their website and it looks like you can join the waitlist there, but not on yelp. Service was quick and we were seated near the door, but weren't hit by any drafts when the door was opened. We got our drink orders, apps, and meats. By the time we got up to pick our toppings from the bar (an assortment of veggies, eggs, noodles, seafood, etc) the meat was delivered. Thinly sliced in groups of four per plate. We all ordered the spicy miso broth, which wasn't too spicy. There's additional sauces you can get from the bar if you want more spice. Our waitress was very helpful and even offered rice, which I didn't know was an option. Music was playing a bit loud, but not excessively so, temperature was adjustable for your broth at your table, and each person had their own pot. Bathrooms were also clean, and there's two sides of the bar so it's not crowded. We also witnessed workers restocking the bar, and others going around regularly adding broth to guests' pots. You can pick other items from the bar such as seafood, noodles and veggies and let it cook. When you run out of meat you can reorder from your waiter. Came here on a Sunday. Wait was around 30 minutes and they wouldn't seat us until all parties arrived as that was when the timer starts. The meats were ok but they came in plates that didn't stack so it was awkward to place on the table bc they had to be stacked on top of each other askew so that the top plate didn't squish the meats on the bottom plate. Still if you ordered 4 meats the tower of meat plates would topple over if you were careful. THEY DID NOT HAVE TONGS OR SOUP LADELS. So you're telling me I'm supposed to use my chopsticks for raw meat? We had to ask for communal chopsticks to use and they came back with one pair For the 5 of us! On paper, Shabuya checks a lot of boxes, great locations, awesome interior design, and a solid meat selection. From afar, the cold bar looks impressive. I don't mind the kid pricing since my daughter eats free here, but taller kids definitely lose out. The 1.5-hour limit is fine, but this location uses every psychological trick to fill you up -- tiny meat portions = more rounds and more waiting. Allergy-wise, it was rough. My daughter can only have plain broth due to soy and other allergies. The cold bar looks great until you look close, I saw egg yolk on shrimp, kimchi tongs touching greens, and tongs buried in egg noodles. Cross-contamination everywhere. The meat plates are also small and stack in a way that makes raw juices almost unavoidable, though meat quality was actually solid, Blade, Toro, and Ribeye were good; chicken thigh was bone-dry. Appetizers were decent, and the sauce bar was the highlight despite the contamination concerns. Overall, not somewhere I'd choose to go, but I'd join if invited for the company. If you have never been here it's an AYCE hotpot with a 90 minute limit for about 30 dollars a person for lunch or dinner on the weekends and I believe around 20 dollars per person for lunch and 30 per person for dinner during the week. Unlimited noodles veggies meat and broth, how could you go wrong? My partner and I usually come here as a little one night get away without the kids. We live in Napa but love going to the veranda to shop and then enjoy some hotpot! We usually go on a Saturday night and most times we get Gabe as our server and he is always friendly, helpful and on top of it! This past weekend we went on a Sunday night instead and we got another amazing server named Kelley. She was so sweet and never skipped a beat. We never ran out of meat or drinks and she did it all with a smile on her face! The atmosphere here is unique. It's a little on the loud side for me personally but I did notice that going on a Sunday made a big difference. They were busy but the music wasn't as loud and the over all vibe was much calmer than we usually experience on Saturday nights. For our meal my partner gets the spicy miso which she loves (I am not a big fan as it just doesn't have enough depth of flavor for me) and I get the tonkotsu which is rich and almost has a creamy mouth feel. They have a self-serve sauce bar so I always make a dipping sauce for us which consists of garlic, soy sauce, chili sauce, vinegar and a ridiculous amount of green onion (I dip my meat in this after it's cooked and it's incredible). The veggies are always so fresh and they restock the bar constantly. They also have a lot of noodle options which I cannot comment on as we don't eat noodles but they look really good and I see almost everyone else eating them. Pro tip: get a side of white rice and at the end of your meal when the broth is getting low and it has all the added flavor from the meat and veggies add it to your pot for a savory porridge. If you're looking for something fun, different and delicious you should give this place a try! Make sure to come hungry to get the most out of it. read more

Came in for a party of two at Shabuya, and unfortunately the experience started off on a really disappointing note. I politely explained that my friend was still parking and that it was raining heavily outside. The host, Dariyon, told me we'd be seated once my friend arrived, which I completely understood and appreciated. However, despite the restaurant not being busy and no crowd waiting, I was then told I couldn't stand inside and had to wait outside--in the rain. When I pointed out that it was pouring and there was no customers, the response Dariyon said was, "I know." He could've been more professional and understand that outside was pouring heavily. Maybe Dariyon could have said, "No worries you can wait here but if customers come in, we would have to have you stand somewhere else." When I said, "it is raining outside", Dariyon said, "I know." What kind of customer service is this? That lack of basic consideration was honestly shocking. First impressions matter, and being told to stand outside in bad rain--especially when there was clearly space inside--felt dismissive and unwelcoming. It made me question how customers are treated here overall. Unfortunately, this interaction left a very negative impression, and based on this experience, I would have to say don't expect a nice experience here, better off going to a different hotpot! read more
