I was skeptical about Curry Bowl because it is in a strip mall, and the name didn't sound very "authentic". Well, I was pleasantly surprised. The food is quite solid and the service was good. The staff seemed to have a bit of a language barrier, which assuaged my concerns about "authenticity". Ha ha. They were the real deal. It's not a big spot. The ambience is nothing special, very casual. The food is presented in plastic white bowls, as opposed to the metal dishes with the candle underneath like they do at most Indian restaurants. An above average Indian place with good selection of appetizers. We ordered from this place for the first time. The tandoori chicken was very nice, comes with sautéed green peppers and onions. The vegetable pakoras are very crunchy, a bit oily but that can't be helped honestly. A lot of portion for the price. My main complaint is the vegetables in pakora is kinda non-existent! Curry Bowl gets the job done in the best of ways! My boss and I often come here to buy food for work meetings. The tikka masala is flavorful, and the naan is fluffy and huge. The bbq chicken pizza is HELLA good though, like surprisingly good. I wouldn't say this is the best I ever had, which is why the 4 stars, but if you're looking to satisfy a craving, this is the place. There are 5 tables inside with 4 seats around them, so it's not really a place to bring a large party. There's also a few outside tables and chairs. read more

Amazing food. We ordered through a delivery service. The butter chicken was amazing, vibrant, tender and the sauce was divine of which we had in medium spice. Hot option may be too much heat for the weary. The sauce had fresh herbs, that gave a burst of Indian seasonings. The naan was still warm and the samosas I saved and threw them in air fryer later and they tasted just as good as when we received them. We will be back for more next week. read more

The food was just okay; it's just that the butter chicken we ordered didn't stand out. I'd say they put the green garnish (chopped cilantro I presume?) borderline too much and they mixed it into the entire dish. I'd be fine with a little garnish (which I actually like), but not to the amount they did. But flavor was fine. Their garlic naan was also just okay - again, the flavor was fine, but the texture of the naan was a little different than what I'm used to. It was a tad dry and too thin to what I'm used to. We ordered online for pickup and there was no mention about how long we had to wait till it was ready - maybe this could be something they look at and improve. So we went there after 20-25 mins. At the restaurant, they almost gave me someone else's food, but I noticed it wasn't ours. Then they told us they didn't see our order, so we had to wait at the restaurant for an order we placed online about 30 mins ago. It wasn't the best experience to put it mildly. read more

I've ordered through mealhi5 which is their "preferred" mode of order per their website. When I went to pick it up they said they don't accept mealhi5 orders and refused to fulfill my order. Now I have to get dinner from elsewhere and dispute the charge with my bank and mealhi5; $45. The issue was the customer service. They were incredibly rude. They had the print out of my order and said they won't make my food. Didn't offer any resolution and wouldn't listen when I kept telling them mealhi5 is listed on their website and I've ordered from them before. Just kept going in circles. In my previous hometown I was spoiled because I had so many places to grab authentic and delicious Indian food. To my delight, my friend found this wonderfully owned mom and pop shop in Clayton. Honestly, I was getting my samosa fix via Trader Joe's frozen samosa(don't judge me, ya girl was desperate). Curry Bowl is family owned and has awesome customer service and authentic Indian food. I ordered paneer tiki masala, garlic naan and samosas(of course)! I devoured everting instantly. Generous portions, good food and affordable prices. I'm so glad to have this restaurant so close by. Love this family owned Indian restaurant in Clayton. Extensive northern Indian menu. I visit often when I'm craving Indian food. Very welcoming and friendly service. Clean interior with a handful of tables. Recently had the butter chicken and lamb curry. So many pieces of meat enrobed in the yummy curry sauce. Freshly made, soft garlic naan has perfect amount of garlic flavor, samosas come with tamarind and mint chutney. Craving this same meal now as I write this. I can agree that it is delicious! The sauce is a creamy tomato based sauce that you just want to bath in! Do not waste the sauce by using a napkin to clean up! You better lick those fingers clean! The chicken was super tender and I liked that it was small manageable pieces so there was no need for a knife. It was great with both the naan and rice. The rice soaked up the sauce so well and the naan was perfect for grabbing the chicken! This is definitely enough for 2 people because I had leftovers for a full meal the next day! The samosa were super tasty too! The wrapper was super crispy and the middle had more of a mashed potato texture giving a nice contrast to the skin! Will be back! read more

Went in for 1 pm lunch. Had to wait a little bit but that is okay. I am trying to write this review not as being mad as to how i felt being in the restaurant today. At the end when i was asking for togo containers for my food, the gentleman in the register asked me for which item i needed i said "raita" in my California accent and he went back into the kitchen making fun on how i said it. Well i am sorry if to come eat here i get made fun of how a person would say the words and get laughed at i aint gonna stand that. DON'T EAT HERE UNLESS YOU ENJOY COCKROACH! Recently had take-out. I had food (Rogan Josh) mid December 22 and in it was a well cooked cockroach. Happily eating I bit into something crunchy and spit it out - it was half of a cockroach. After keeping myself from vomiting all over the dinner table, I found the other half still in the to-go plastic tub. That's the most disgusting food experience I've ever had!!! Hidden Gem of Clayton. My husband and I just stopped in today. We started with a cup of chai and Samosa, which is a potato stuff deep fried Indian snack. Both were delicious. The chai has a nice touch of cardamom. I had the potato and cauliflower dish with garlic naan. My husband had the mutton biryani. They can adjust to your taste for the spice level. Clayton taste- mild Fremont taste - medium Hyderabad taste- spicy. Choose your level wisely! They gave us complimentary rice desert dish- it was wonderful!!!! My friend and I tried Curry Bowl for the first time recently and really liked it. We ordered the most delicious samosas and enjoyed both sauces that were offered (chutney and something green/spicy). We both ordered Chicken Biriyani, which I have had before. We were asked for our level of spice tolerance, which was nice, because I probably would not have been able to eat what I ordered if I had not ordered "mild." Be aware that "medium" was described as a 6/10 on the spicy scale. I'd say "mild" was at least a 4/10! I took one star for the super spiciness of dish requested "mild."
