After seeing this place numerous times we finally decided to check it out. It's located in a small strip mall, so parking wasn't difficult on a Tuesday evening close to 6:00pm. Walking in, it wasn't busy. There was only 1 person waiting for a to-go order. There was a good amount of seating. It wasn't the cleanest though, the floors needed some serious sweeping. We seated ourselves and the young man at the front counter took our order. He was very quiet but helpful. We ordered the Tikka Masala with chicken, Butter Masala w/ chicken, Vindaloo with Shrimp and Garlic Naan. The food was piping hot-temperature wise and arrived in take-out containers. So we needed to wait a few minutes for it to cool a little so we could eat it. Their ice maker wasn't working and the water was warm, so there was no cooling to be found there. When we finally tried the food, we were impressed. The spice-levels of each dish were as expected and the food was delicious! Unfortunately, in the Vindaloo, chicken was put in instead of the shrimp which we had ordered. But it was still good. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Garlic Naan as well. Very well seasoned, wish I got a heavier spic level. I asked for medium and it was not spicy at all. So I know next time to ask for more The bill came out to about $60, it's self service so you order at the counter, everything is served on to go plates and you clear your own table. I'd come here again because the butter lamb was delicious and so was the naan. Not sure if the naan is homemade or not but it was good. I was running errands in the area and stopped at the staples near by . The aroma coming from this place was great but I didn't want to get a huge meal I just needed a snack . I'm always down for some good naan so I made an online order and waited about 15 mins . The smell was on point but in my opinion it was too much crisp and too flat. I'm sure the other food is good but I didn't try anything but naan. I've definitely had better so I'll go try another place and hope for better naan. It's difficult to find a restaurant that specializes in Southern Indian food. I've enjoyed almost all the dishes I've ordered here. I definitely recommend the masala dosa, chicken dum biryani, and poori chole. Also don't forget to finish the meal off with some chai. They focus on takeout so the dining area is small. I LOVE Indian food! My go to place is in San Marcos or in Carlsbad Village but since I was going to Staples in the same plaza, thought I'd give it a try. Got the same thing as we always do. Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, butter naan. All the food is salty and it's lacking in flavor and depth. We chose medium spice level for all of it and it was very mild with absolutely no heat at all. The naan was very crispy not soft at all. And they didn't give enough rice! And rice is so cheap so not good that they skimp out on that. If you want good Indian food, go to Flavor Himalayas in San Marcos or Taste of Himalayas in Carlsbad Village. It's actually one of the few places that serves dishes which have a flavor profile that's closest to what we get in Hyderabad. This café was a slam dunk for our first time. It's a small location with a handful of seating options. However, the food was spectacular and fast. Everything I ordered had its own flavors, some restaurants it all taste the same, but not this place. I ordered Dammunna Chicken, Telangana Chicken Curry, Vijaywada Chicken Family pack, Garlic Naan, and of course, thumbs up , all medium spice. My friend ordered chicken tandoori lunch special (I was taking stuff home for the family to try and eat, huge indian food fans) The biriyani came with a side appetizer, Munchin Chicken (spell check) - Indo Chinese. This was literally my favorite, as it's so hard to find info Chinese here. The online menu shows indo Chinese, but in the restaurant, I didn't see the options. This place was literally so sooooo good! It's been a while since we have found a good place. All the flavors and spices were met at all expectations. It's so so so greasy...its disgusting But worth going for the biriyani. Negatives besides the saag paneer is the restaurant is too small and stuffy . I liked the reviews I read on this place so I thought I would give it a try! We ordered take out and service was fast and friendly. I noticed a lot of the dishes aren't spelled right on the menu. The place is clean and meant more for ordering food to go with just a few tables inside. I liked the food but the curry dishes do not taste as traditional as I prefer and some of the dishes tasted as if the cook dropped a whole bunch of sugar and instead of starting over.. kept going making the meal. There were lots of long slimy pieces of onion in the saag and the Tikka Masala. The mint chutney also had some type of crème added to it which I didn't much like over the usual traditional chutney. First and only restaurant that serve Biryani in north county. Lots of Biryani varieties to choose from. And good biryani's as well.
