This place sent a very nice gent out to assess my swamp and he gave me a great quote for refinishing my pool surface. Lower than any other place in town. In about a week after payment they had some bros out to clean and prep the surface. Took them about 3 days to complete. I believe 2 or 3 days after that the plaster crew showed up and was done in less than 2 hours. Everything looks pro af. Anytime I need to I can bring a sample of water to them and they'll let me know what I need to add to it. I do have a salt wather system and was surprised reading the other reviews here with people bitching about their salt water systems. It's very apparent they have 0 clue that a salt system isn't very different from a chlorine system. The device either inline or in your pool converts the salt into chlorine and the plates in the device usually need to be replaced every other year sometimes every year. Adding chlorine to a pool with a failed salt generator makes perfect sense. Either read the manual or enjoy your algae. Other reviews said they had trouble getting in touch with the staff here. WHAT??! They have a phone number and are open Mon-Sat. I've never had the phone ring more than once on their end. TLDR The 1 star reviewers here are plebs that are either ignorant or don't follow through. I've dealt with this place several times and they've always been as reasonable as any other professional business. read more

I don't usually give 5 stars but when you go the extra mile you deserve it. Pool was damaged in Houston Winter Storm. After calling a number of stores in Houston area for Hayward SP3200un and being informed it had a 120day back order from Hayward and then seeing nothing was on Amazon or eBay you start to get desperate. I proceeded to call a few store in the Austin and San Antonio area and Ray Hines not only had the part but had it to me the next day. Our pool pump was making a sound like a squealing pig and thankfully Chris from Hines Pool was able to come and diagnose the problem. It turns out our filter system was also on its last legs (like literally the screws were disintegrating) and so he was able to swap out both items for us in an afternoon. Ray was very helpful and spent time with me via several phone calls to help with a cloudy pool. Once I found that my 23 year old filter was not functioning properly, I decided to have them replace it. Bob did a great job with the new install. After a few days l did not like the pressure gauge location. I called Ray and Bob showed up 2 hours later and repositioned the valve for me! If you are looking for customer service, or any service for that matter, go somewhere else. For the past several months going back to February of this year, 2019, I have called and contacted them, via their website, inquiring about doing a pool remodel. After the first couple of msgs I left with no response, I decided to postpone the project until the fall, but out of curiosity I have regularly reached out in hopes to get some sort of response. I've spoken with the receptionist about it a couple of times with assurances she will make sure I am contacted, but nada. I guess business is so good my money doesn't matter to them. read more

I had a pool leak. I called a number of companies that claim to deal with pool leaks and found that most really do not, at least if they believe it might be a hard job. I called Hines Pools and shortly thereafter Chris called me back and came over that day. His first comment was, don't worry we will find and fix the leak. We set up a time for he and Jesse to come and begin the detection process. Though we were unable to find the source of the leak that first day, they gave me a few things to do so the pool would be ready for the next phase of detection. Jesse and Frank then were back the next day and were able to figure out what the problem was. The fix itself was easy, the detection took a lot of persistence. These guys were simply great. read more

The technician was average. He failed to report a larger issue that ended up costing us a lot of extra money. The office staff was unprofessional and disorganized. I do not recommend them. They are a larger company that does not really take the time to care about their smaller accounts. read more

Called for a repair on Wednesday and was scheduled for "early the next week". Next Monday rolls around and I call for a more accurate time. I was told that I would receive a call that day. Nobody called so I called on Tuesday. Then I was told there was no record of my appointment and it would be the following week for the repair. Take a pass on these guys. read more

I would avoid them. I used to be a fan. Used them for 10 years. Then, this year, everything changed. They fixed things for $1200 that did not need fixed (replaced the pump to the polaris which was working fine), cracked my pool wall while installing a light. Did all of that, and the original problem they were called for was never resolved... Also, found out that I have been paying exorbitant rates all these years. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Thanks for dropping off way more chemicals than we needed and charging us for two service charges??? I have never had any service repair service that needs to come back tomorrow to get a part to finish the job charge me again for the repair?? We have had our AC unit, refrigerator, and washing machine get repaired in that way and no double service charge has ever been added. I left a message explaining the overcharge but unfortunately the person who interpreted the message doesn't speak English as we were left a reply message on our machine with had no merit or anything even comparable to any of the content I left in the original message. Too expensive, bad communication, and overcharging? No thank Hines you fooled me once but you'll not fool me twice. Watch out folks, it's like taking your car to Americas Service station where they "find" things while changing your oil and your $75 dollar bill ends up being $400. Have fun not getting anymore of our money and hopefully not getting any of other peoples hard earned money as well. BTW-Hines was a recommendation from the builder Cody pools who REFUSES to service our pool anymore after the warranty ran out even if we pay???? TWO FAILS read more

Horrible. I would never use this company. The tech that came to repair a few things, spent 90% of his time arguing on his cell phone. He didn't finish the job and had to come back the next day. He came late and wasn't going to do some of the repairs, until I argued with him. Took him a few minutes. Another tech was supposed to clean the pool, but because of the repairs, he will have to come back and use a ton more chemicals. Thanks Hines for charging me double for chemicals! read more

I had a stain at the bottom of my pool that I was unable to identify and therefore unable to treat effectively. Based on recommendations in the neighborhood I gave Hines Pool a call. They sent out their "best man" who charged $90 for a 10 minute visit (when I wasn't home). He simply tested the water and told me I needed more salt. He completely ignored the stain at the bottom of the pool and gave me simple and unrelated maintenance advice. When I called Hines management they told me that was their best guy and if he said I need more salt then you need more salt. Not surprisingly correction of the salt level did nothing to correct the problem and I am still left with an unidentified stain. Hines management then stated that they would send someone else out - they never did. When I called back they refused to stand by their work. BTW: I took a picture of the stain brought it into Pool Warehouse and a helpful and knowledgeable sales person was able to help my properly treat the pool. UPDATE: The owner of HInes Pool saw this review and came out to address the issue. He was very helpful and helped me fix the problem at no charge (including lending me equipment to treat the stain). I am satisfied with their response to my issue. read more

After calling four other companies, Hines came through with a specialist that services hot tub heaters and has electrical knowledge. The phone calls were answered by a person, were returned promptly by more live people, and they actually listened to me to help pre-diagnose the problem. They sent out Dave R. the next day (another company couldn't send out a techician for 2 weeks). Not only did Dave fix the problem, but he gave us an education about the workings of the whole system, and gave us the choice whether or not to fix a broken automatic valve that could open just fine if we turned it manually. He wasn't in a hurry to get out of here, and he even affixed labels to help us make sense of all the PVC spaghetti around the pool pump. Joel and Dave are very nice, and we'll use them again. read more

I have used Hines Pool for years, primarily for weekly cleaning or small issues with a few things. Then my pool had a major crack 2018 and they fixed it beautifully. This year, May 2019, I was having issues with the Polaris not working correctly. The tech, Ray, came over to check things out & it worked but not the next day. He came again and finally came to the conclusion it was the main filter. Byron was sent over & he cleaned out the main filter (35yrs old) and yet things didn't seem to get better. It was time for a new filter and I AM A HAPPY POOL OWNER, again. The water is so clear! Thank You Hines Pool, to Ray and to Byron. We have had Hines Pool and Spa come service our pool for several years and always have a great experience. When our family first moved to Austin, we tried several companies with bad experineces. The Hines team all work together to keep our equipment in good shape and are proactive when they see a concern. This last week, we started to have a filter problem and Chris came to take it apart and troubleshoot. He talked to us about our concerns, what he saw during the visit, and the filter is working better than it ever has. So happy Chris came and did a beautiful job! This is the worst service I have ever had. It took three months to repair pool water heater I paid for $800 one year ago. Don't get me wrong it was never working: the guy had a grandson in hospital, dead friend and then dead father in law. AND then they charged me over $1400. Be aware! read more

Service man came out and replaced a $6.00 clamp. Took him 5 minutes while I stood and watched. He then got a phone call and chit chatted. Then continued talking to me about shooting coyotes on his property. Got my bill for his 5 minutes of work. $167 !!! Really????? He reported to his office that he was here working for 45 minutes??? I tried calling the office 3 times and no one seemed to have the authority to discuss this bill. Left two messages with boss and never heard back. Watch your wallets when you deal with them and maybe take a video to show how long they actually work when they come out. They surprise you with a bill sent from the office. read more

This company did some repair on my hot tub when a switch to one of the pumps wasn't working. I had originally called another pool/spa guy who kept flaking & asking me to call and wake him up from his nap so I was pleasantly surprised when this company was professional on the phone. I also thought the guy who did the work was professional. They came out on November 16th a Friday & promised to come back the following Monday or Tuesday with the part to install. Hooray I thought the hot tub will be ready to go for thanks giving. Several phone call & 2 1/2 weeks later the guy came back to install the part but even then he had to leave & get another piece & come again the next day. He apologized when he left & said he hoped I didn't have bad feelings about the company. My experience was if I spend $480 on some switches to get my hot tub fixed and you tell me it will be 2-3 days and it turns into 3 weeks, well that's just disappointing read more
