I'm yet to try fish from this chain. I've heard it's good but maybe one day. It was my first time at this location a few days ago. I was in the area and need to grab something small to eat so I looked one up and this was the closet. I must say, this location isn't the cleanest looking place. I didn't see anyone sitting here eating although it's fairly big. It might just be more of a carryout spot. It smells bad and the inside is very dirty. They are very stingy and miserly with the condiments and eating utensils.

They actually sent me black chicken legs, and all of the chicken was dry! I also tried something new - their chicken livers and gizzards. The livers were overcooked and so dry! The gizzards were entirely too chewy. $30 in the trash. Only one word is appropriate here: YUCK ! read more

WARNING! Do Not Eat Here. Hip Hop Fish and chicken was at a birthday party that I attended. Ten of us including two young children all got Food Poisoning from eating the fish. It was the worst two days of my life; vomiting and pooping for hours. We all called Charles County Department of Health and filed a complaint. The inspector went out to the establishment on Leonardtown Rd. Where the fish was purchased and reported that employees were not washing their hands. These nasty ass people are handling food and don't have the decency to wash their hands after going to the restroom or after doing what god knows what. I hope the establishment gets closed down. Today is the first full day open for this restaurant at this location. Apparently there is a 2nd Waldorf location on Crain Hwy. I've had exactly 1 meal, a $7.49 Whiting Dinner Order with Fries, Cole Slaw and 2 slices of white bread. So my rating is based totally on this 1 meal. This was a ToGo order but there is adequate seating to eat in. I consider this more of a soul food place, if labels are important to you, because there are bean pies, banana pudding, and sweet potato pies available. I love my soul food even though I restrict the amount of fried foods I eat, for obvious health reasons. But when I throw down nothing takes the place of some perfectly fried fish. I had that today and plenty of it. Enough for lunch and dinner or 2 people. They gave me a mess of fries to boot. There are no waiters or waitresses. You order at the counter. They give you a stub with a number. They call the number and you go get your food, deli style. This is my new GoTo spot for fried fish. I also want to try the chicken livers. I eat chicken livers about 4 times a year but don't like to fire up the fryer in the house for any reason unless there is no alternative. Depending on location. The one on Leonardtown Road is clean. I've been to one near there that wasn't. The chicken and fish is good.

Asked to substitute the fries with mac and cheese, and was told it was $1.99 more to do that. I asked how much the fries were and they said $1. I then told them I didn't need the bread, and they pointedly said the bread was free. I asked for two loaves. Seemed clean inside, contrary to other reviews, but there is a lot of empty space. Don't think I'll be back because of the unfriendly counter help. read more

We shared our meal, so I ate the chicken wings, cheesecake and many of the side dishes...all were "off" and "weird". It was like there was an odd taste in each thing. I usually go to the other location in Waldorf on Crain Highway but was in the area and decided to stop at this one. It's a much bigger place with seating. There was a bit of a wait but got my order and was out the door without too much delay. The guy at the counter was taking phone orders and waiting on the people in the restaurant so that was the delay. I got my usual Fried Catfish and found that it was a bit overcooked but not too bad. The ends were tough from being overcooked but I ate it anyway. The sprinkle on the fish and fries is part of the greatness and I LOVE the hot sauce. For takeout, I'd go to the other location as they cook the fish a bit better. read more
