We went on a final excursion for food before we headed back to the states. We were so glad we found these kiosk and food places over here. This one in particular was just a gut feeling, and it left my gut very HAPPY! This place was not busy when we arrived but by the time we left it was hopping! The service at first was a little questionable due to my limited spanish, but we found a way to communicate effectively and ended up ordering a bunch of different items and a couple of drinks. The place is an open walled restaurant right off the road and the view is ever changing. There is no doubt this is authentic Puerto Rican fare. We were watching them prepare these items over open flames and open wood fired grills. Overall the service was excellent even with language barriers! All of the food we tried from fresh shrimp, to candied papaya and barbeque chicken from the grill. Everything was delicious. Super fresh and very tasty food that I wish we found on the first day -instead of on the last day! The prices and value are amazing! If you go to San Juan - Go here first! Day or Night - these places are making amazing local food!

This is our family's go to spot as soon as we land in PFR. Excellent service, food and vibes. Very reasonable pricing. Our go to: yucca, alcapurria, bacalaito, empanadilla.

Located in Pinoñes near the beach. We randomly stopped by because the place was full and we are so glad we did. We got an alcapurria with crab, pastellito with chicken, and a chicken pincho. The pincho was made fresh on the grill and was so tasty that once we finished our food, we had to order another one. You can see a man grilling the pinchos right in front of you and a lady frying the alcapurrias/pastellitos fresh!

Hipi Cache is located in a strip of many open air restaurants in Piñones. It was recommended by locals and hidden away from touristy areas. It was about a 15 minute drive from Condado. The meals were by far the best authentic food we had so far on our visit. I opted for red snapper with yuca mofongo. The fish was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Yuca mofongo was flavorful and satisfying. The service was great and staff was friendly.

We loved going to this restaurant near pinones. We ordered, oysters, snapper, chicken bbq, octopus and ceviche. Excellent flavor, not overpowering, and we felt the seafood was fairly fresh. My favorite was the oysters, which were large and great with a lime. Everyone else liked the fish and octopus as well. We had fresh coconut as well, which was nice but it wasn't as flavorful as I've had elsewhere (It may not be in season right now). Would 100% recommend a visit! Wish we had more time to visit again.

One of the best spots we found in pinones. This place probably had one of the best mofongos we had on this trip! It was an amazing texture and the aioli they provided was the perfect compliment to be dish! The service was slow though, we almost left because they did not put our order in for a while!

I stopped here while in Loiza waiting to pick someone up from the airport. It is across the street from Pinones beach. I got there about 11a.m. on a Sunday and it was not busy. By 12:30 they were packed and had someone directing parking which helped a lot of people. The fried park was tasty but half was juicy and half was dry and overcooked. The conch was delicious and the dozen Oysters are definitely worth the thirty bucks. It's very casual, my daughter and I sat under a fan far from the smoking hot grills. The waitress was sweet and attentive. She spoke minimal English which was ok since the menu had English. I love the area with all the little shops. Traffic can be a bit heavy in the area.

This is by far one of the memorable food experiences I have had in San Juan. The menu was mostly in spanish, so we just ordered various fried food...and it was amazing! For uncultured gringos like me, the alcapurria is a small fried dough bar with meat on the inside and it is great. The pincho is a large kabob that is to die for. The pinono is a plantain made fried dough with meat on the inside and is amazing. Pastelillos are empanadas with meat on the inside and a must try! The frappe here are very strong if you add alcohol and is really really good and affordable.

Pincho Pollo ($3 per skewer). The sauce on the chicken reminds me of a teriyaki/Polynesian sauce. Tasty! 9/8/23

There are plenty of restaurants in the area but this one had the best looking Chicken Skewers (Pincho Pollo) on display so we decided to give them a try. The chicken skewers were $3 each, meat pie (don't know the name) $2 each, and the Pina colada was $6 each. Very affordable if you are in the area. The place also looked bright and had plenty of people. We were glad to have found this gem. We'd definitely come back to try more items! 9/8/23

The fried snapper fish was cooked perfectly and everything tasted fresh. I tried their churrasco and trifongo (mofongo de plátano verde, plátano maduro, and yuca combined) It can get lively with a crowd and music, depending on the time of day, but that's part of the Piñones experience. One thing to keep in mind is that the beach access nearby isn't directly connected to the restaurant area, so if you're planning to visit both, having transportation makes things much easier. If you're walking, be prepared for a longer trek than you might expect. Overall, this spot is worth a stop.

Review #1,043 Posted on 4.26.26…read more We stopped here after arriving & getting settled at our room/spot on Wednesday the 22nd. We had seen this spot online a lot & were looking forward to the fried stuff. So when we came, the line wasn't too long, but they were out of bacalaitos which was the main item I wanted to try. They went to make them fresh, which we were looking forward too, it took a bit, but Buddy finally went to the back to fry some fresh ones up. I've got to admit, I was disappointed on how the actual bacalaito delivered. It felt like all bread, I couldn't taste the fish. If the fish was in here, it was one of the more chincier portions I've ever got. Now what saved the day & also blew me away was the Alcapurria de carne. This little thing was on hit, I should've ordered 2. It's like fried plantain, with ground beef inside, the plantain even though fried was extremely soft. I'd come back & eat here 100%, a must when visiting the PR.
