TRUE LOVE TACOS…read more I went to True Love Tacos expecting tacos. What I received was a reminder that food can still make you believe in something. I had recently eaten at Oliver's Italian, which I can only describe as an experience that made me question several fundamental assumptions about civilization. The meal wasn't merely disappointing. It was the kind of meal where you leave the restaurant and immediately begin mentally reconstructing every decision that led you there. Then I ate at True Love Tacos. And suddenly, I understood forgiveness. These tacos are ridiculous. The tortillas have that perfect combination of warmth, char, and structural integrity that makes you wonder why we ever bothered inventing plates. The meat is seasoned like somebody actually gave a shit. The toppings aren't there merely to provide color--they're participating. Every bite has something going on. Crunch. Fat. Acid. Heat. Char. Freshness. It's almost rude. At Oliver's, I spent the meal wondering when it would end. At True Love Tacos, I spent the meal wondering how quickly I could order another taco without making it obvious that I had completely lost control. The difference was profound. Oliver's made me feel like I had paid money to attend a meeting. True Love Tacos made me feel like I'd been invited to a party. And perhaps that's what great food is supposed to do. You shouldn't need to intellectually justify it. You shouldn't need to discuss the chef's vision over a $17 appetizer. You should take a bite and think: "Oh. Fuck. That's good." True Love Tacos accomplishes this repeatedly. By taco number four, I had stopped taking notes. By taco number five, I had stopped speaking. By taco number six, I was no longer a food reviewer. I was simply a man standing before greatness. True Love Tacos: 9.8/10 Oliver's Italian: I would like to formally apologize to the tacos for comparing them. If Oliver's was the meal that made me question whether I understood Italian food, True Love Tacos was the meal that reminded me I understand food. Come hungry. Come humble. And for the love of God, don't eat at Oliver's immediately beforehand. You don't want the tacos spending the rest of the evening cleaning up someone else's mess.

I ordered their bestselling Chicken Parm Sandwich with a side of fries, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The sandwich was hearty, loaded with perfectly fried chicken, incredible ciabatta bread, rich homemade red sauce, and an epic cheese pull that made every bite worth it. The fries were a great complement, and the portion was so generous that I had enough left over for a second meal. It's easy to see why they had a line out the door during the lunch rush. They deserve all the success that's come their way. If you're looking for authentic Italian street food in Arvada, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back!

Ambiance/Service: 4 Located in a bland, charmless shopping…read moreplaza (perfect for a Jeffco DMV that is also there). But the cozy, kitschy fun interior with Italian/American, NYC, Sopranos pics & articles on the walls is a pleasant surprise. The owner was at a table with others & warmly greeted/thanked everyone who came in. Get takeout if you don't want to hear random convos or others to hear yours. Food/Value: 3 + The popular Mosco ($16) is their twist on the classic Italian sausage/peppers roll with the addition of diced green chiles. Tasty, but I missed the classic messiness of biting into juicy sausage LINKS/chunky peppers/hearty roll as opposed to their slim patties, artisanal bread, diced peppers. I'm a fried zucchini/pickles "connoisseur" & prefer a lighter batter, balanced seasoning. But some might like their more heavily coated/traditionally seasoned fried zucchini ($9). The drizzled sauce was tasty but the coating was just not for me. Overall: I'd come back for another try if I'm in the area (esp after a trip to the DMV!). But the prices were higher than I'd expect for lunch & "street food" especially for the area & in this economy.
