I've been coming here since 2012 and my children grew up begging to eat here!! The fish is always fresh and good portions! Parking is easy and they have a full bar - more "adult" setting- in the far back. It's pretty cool but their drink prices are pretty ridiculous... I have noticed is the prices have gone up disproportionately to their quality of service. I know customer service standards have decreased since Covid but I was disappointed this last time I went - the older lady server gave me a late night happy hour price (suppose to be cheaper after 10pm) for my beer drafts and when the check came with a different price she had another server tell us "sorry" that's not the case... she also never really checked on us after dropping the food off... It is SAD. My first sushi experience as a kid was in Hiro the old location when Hiro was the chef. It was so good. It was good when Hiro was at the new location. The food now is disgusting. The salad dressing has always been good but the lettuce for the salad is some cheap garbage. The food we got was gross. I feel sick. Some creep broke glasses at the bar and it sprayed glass all over the restaurant hitting my back. They had to call the police. The manager didn't even come out to apologize. I have a bruise. Ugh, my family has been coming to/ordering from Hiro for years and years. They used to be so good but have gone downhill. They also became insanely expensive for what you get. I had the shrimp tempura roll, and a Tuna California roll both of which were very large in size. There was no skimping and the ingredients tasted s fresh and high quality. Wait staff made us feel comfortable and non-rushed with great personalities. Finished off the meal with the tempura fried bananas and vanilla ice cream which was delicious! I've been coming here for years, and this place has been a North Miami staple for over 20 years. The sushi is solid, the staff is great, and the nostalgia is real. Then I ordered a draft beer! Imagine my surprise when the bill revealed that this wasn't just any draft beer--it was apparently harvested from a glacier on Mount Fuji, blessed by ancient samurai, and hand-poured by the Emperor himself... because it cost $13.50 a draft For that price, I expected the keg to come with equity in the restaurant, a thank-you speech from the owner, and maybe a complimentary therapy session after seeing the check. I understand prices have gone up, but $13.50 for a regular draft beer in North Miami is an ambitious financial strategy. I had to double-check that I hadn't accidentally ordered the entire keg. Love the history of this place, but that beer price is straight-up disrespectful. I came for Japanese food, not to finance your beer inventory. This used to be one of my favorite places to have sushi and other Japanese food, but sadly they are just falling down by the wayside, and it's sad. After the new Brazillian owners came in (2 years more less), they made everything ala carte, so when your entree came with a soup, salad and white rice, it is all additional now. What's worse is the portions have shrunk which is a double whammy. I used to consider this place one of my favorites. When I lived in the area years ago, I came here often and ordered takeout regularly. They had some of the best seafood around. Since moving away, this was my first visit in years. The interior hasn't changed much, but unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. I found several fairly large pieces of plastic wrap in my rolls. When I mentioned this to our waiter, he tried to resolve the issue, but the manager said, "Leave it as it is." Seriously? As we were being seated, I politely asked if it was possible to make the room a bit warmer, and his response came off as dismissive and unkind. I've been here at least 10 times and have brought others who love it. This is my solid Japanese spot in Miami. I prefer to sit at the bar for a dope lounge like experience Service is alwaysssss superb. My favorite drink is the Hennessy sidecar which is strong af. Sometimes I'll get the hulk which is hypnotic and henessey also strong af I love the tuna crush roll which is a crispy tuna rice roll with jalapeño and Sriracha so it' has a nice kick to it. This was not a good experience. We've been coming to Hiros since they opened in this location. It's more than 20 years. We have friends who love it. We were in north Miami visiting a gal pal who wanted to enjoy one of their lunch specials so we came. What we had to eat was okay. Here's the problem -- my friend and I were served. Her food came out. Then mine ten minutes later. 20 minutes after that (!),we were still waiting for my husband's lunch to be delivered. No explanation. No apology. He went to the hostess who said she was the manager and complained. She said she'd ask about it. I talked to two other waiters walking by. Asked for our server. After another 20 minutes, he left without eating. My friend and I had finished by then and asked for the check. We told the server to cancel his food and that he'd left. When she brought the check, she then apologized. And only after we asked her did she say that another waiter had taken my husband's food by accident. This didn't explain the extra time afterwards when this was discovered --as it never was redone. Apologies at receiving check and payment times were just a little too late. Such a shame that management could not handle this at all -- let alone properly. So much for customer service. And for staff training. read more

I was looking for a late sushi dinner and saw this place was open until 2:30am!! It was hard to believe so I called them and, yes, they were open late! So, not following my usual diet timetable, a couple friend and I headed to Hiro at 11pm for some sushi! The place wasn't that busy but it sits adjacent to a couple bars and clubs so the traffic and music from there makes you feel you are eating at a super busy place! The menu is huge; tons of rolls, nigiri is expensive, $3.50 to $5.50 per ONE piece so budget carefully. They have a couple value packages combining sushi and sashimi which I recommend. The quality of fish is decent, not A+ but definitely not B or lower.
