The salad dressing has always been good but the lettuce for the salad is some cheap garbage. The food we got was gross. I feel sick. Some creep broke glasses at the bar and it sprayed glass all over the restaurant hitting my back. They had to call the police. The manager didn't even come out to apologize. I have a bruise. Went in with my famous last words, "I'm not too hungry", and ended up consuming two entire delicious sushi rolls. They were so good in fact that I forgot to snap a photo! I had the shrimp tempura roll, and a Tuna California roll both of which were very large in size. There was no skimping and the ingredients tasted s fresh and high quality. Wait staff made us feel comfortable and non-rushed with great personalities. Finished off the meal with the tempura fried bananas and vanilla ice cream which was delicious! This used to be one of my favorite places to have sushi and other Japanese food, but sadly they are just falling down by the wayside, and it's sad. After the new Brazillian owners came in (2 years more less), they made everything ala carte, so when your entree came with a soup, salad and white rice, it is all additional now. What's worse is the portions have shrunk which is a double whammy. I still love their salad dressing which is what I use on everything but there are so many better sushi establishments open now in the area, this one is not one of them. Tito's is always my vodka of choice. The sushi is absolutely delicious. I tried the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Salmon California Roll. I've been coming to this restaurant for as long as I can remember it's been a family favorite and a place I've always associated with warm hospitality and great service. Unfortunately, my most recent visit left me extremely disappointed. Upon entering, my guest and I were not greeted by the host, Jonathan. There was no acknowledgment or welcome, which felt uncharacteristically cold for a place I've frequented for years. As we were being seated, I politely asked if it was possible to make the room a bit warmer, and his response came off as dismissive and unkind. The tone and attitude he displayed were unnecessary and frankly surprising. I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience stood out in the worst way. I've never felt uncomfortable here before, and I hope this is addressed so others don't feel the same. I used to consider this place one of my favorites. When I lived in the area years ago, I came here often and ordered takeout regularly. They had some of the best seafood around. Since moving away, this was my first visit in years. The interior hasn't changed much, but unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. I found several fairly large pieces of plastic wrap in my rolls. When I mentioned this to our waiter, he tried to resolve the issue, but the manager said, "Leave it as it is." Seriously? Unfortunately, my most recent experience was by far the worst I have had at this restaurant, and the way my concerns were addressed left me feeling disrespected and undervalued. I want to provide a detailed account of what happened because this incident was so disappointing, and I hope it helps management understand why this situation needs urgent attention and resolution. The problem began with my order of the lunch special--the salmon cream cheese roll and sashimi salad. After only three small bites of the salad, I immediately noticed something was wrong. The lettuce was stale, wilted, limp, and had a distinctly unpleasant, sour, and off taste that overwhelmed the entire dish. This was not a subtle flaw or minor imperfection--it was obvious the lettuce was old and no longer fresh. The unpleasant taste was so overpowering that it made me feel physically uneasy and grossed out. I was forced to stop eating the salad almost immediately, which was deeply disappointing because this dish has been one I have enjoyed many times before. Instead of offering to remake the salad or provide a replacement that matched the original portion and quality, Mateo brought me a replacement salad so tiny that it could barely be considered a replacement. The portion was laughably small--far less than what I originally ordered and paid for--and, to make matters worse, it had no sashimi at all, which is a crucial part of the dish. The replacement salad was clearly not fresh or thoughtfully prepared; it felt like a rushed and careless afterthought rather than a real solution to the problem. This tiny replacement did nothing to restore my satisfaction or confidence in the meal. It felt dismissive, inadequate, and like my concerns were not truly being heard or valued. Mateo then mentioned that the sashimi tray had already been taken away and vaguely suggested that I could "swap" fish from my original plate. However, that plate had already been removed from the table and taken back to the kitchen. The suggestion that I should accept fish from a plate that was no longer in front of me was not only unappetizing but felt unsanitary and disrespectful. Being asked to accept fish from a plate that had already been cleared made me feel uncomfortable and undervalued as a customer. It seemed like a clear disregard for basic hygiene standards and for my satisfaction. This suggestion was unacceptable and diminished my trust in the restaurant's commitment to food safety and customer care. Throughout this interaction, Mateo's attitude was dismissive and lacked empathy. He did not clearly explain what had happened or show a genuine effort to resolve the situation respectfully. At one point, Mateo even said I was "giving him a hard time," despite my polite and calm approach. This comment felt rude and dismissive, adding insult to injury. When I requested to speak to a manager, I was told that the general manager was already aware of the issue. However, she never came to speak with me or attempt to address my concerns personally. Whether because she was busy or chose not to engage, this lack of managerial follow-up felt like a clear dismissal of my experience and loyalty. I prefer to sit at the bar for a dope lounge like experience Service is alwaysssss superb. My favorite drink is the Hennessy sidecar which is strong af. Sometimes I'll get the hulk which is hypnotic and henessey also strong af I love the tuna crush roll which is a crispy tuna rice roll with jalapeño and Sriracha so it' has a nice kick to it. This was not a good experience. We've been coming to Hiros since they opened in this location. It's more than 20 years. We have friends who love it. We were in north Miami visiting a gal pal who wanted to enjoy one of their lunch specials so we came. What we had to eat was okay. Here's the problem -- my friend and I were served. Her food came out. Then mine ten minutes later. 20 minutes after that (!),we were still waiting for my husband's lunch to be delivered. No explanation. No apology. He went to the hostess who said she was the manager and complained. She said she'd ask about it. I talked to two other waiters walking by. Asked for our server. After another 20 minutes, he left without eating. My friend and I had finished by then and asked for the check. We told the server to cancel his food and that he'd left. When she brought the check, she then apologized. And only after we asked her did she say that another waiter had taken my husband's food by accident. This didn't explain the extra time afterwards when this was discovered --as it never was redone. Apologies at receiving check and payment times were just a little too late. Such a shame that management could not handle this at all -- let alone properly. So much for customer service. And for staff training. read more

The place wasn't that busy but it sits adjacent to a couple bars and clubs so the traffic and music from there makes you feel you are eating at a super busy place! The menu is huge; tons of rolls, nigiri is expensive, $3.50 to $5.50 per ONE piece so budget carefully. They have a couple value packages combining sushi and sashimi which I recommend. The quality of fish is decent, not A+ but definitely not B or lower. There's is no wonder that this restaurant has been around for 30 years and still thriving. The actual space is very clean and well decorated. It has a great layout with dining around the sushi bar, and seating at the bar so that you can also watch them make your rolls. There was both indoor and outdoor seating and what looked like a full bar. We came in for a quick dinner on a Monday night. I had the dragon roll and a side salad.
