In addition to using recycled steel from the shipping containers, the design incorporates energy recovery ventilation, storm runoff reduction, and light fixtures sensing daylight - encouraging 25% less energy than most office buildings. It really did feel like sitting in a square in Italy and I was down for it. There are so many fun details and things to look at. This year was my first year in attendance and was lucky enough to purchase the limited number of VIP tickets sold for the event. The prices were a bit steep at $75 per person. I am glad we paid this amount considering the lines that we saw from those regular entry on our way out. They were LOoooNG! . There were lots of vendors sampling not just beers but ciders and seltzers too. You receive one sampling cup on your way in that the vendors (often only 1 -2 manning the booth) have to fill individually which in my opinion holds up the line significantly. Obviously we want to be environmentally friendly so we get one sampling cup but there needs to be a more expedited system than hand pouring hundreds of samples for people. For the price I expected a bit more food/snacks but really all that was free was a sample kind granola bar, a tiny spoon of willow tree and a cube of cheese along the way. I mean, even a little cup of pretzels would've been nice. Probably the most disappointing part was that about 25-30% of the animals were not around :( it was definitely something to experience but not sure I will be running back. The event is held every year rain or shine and this year when I got to attend it was very nice, I'm not sure how much I would've enjoyed it though I f the weather was rainy or not as nice. Again, definitely something to experience at least once especially going the VIP route but be aware the event is held rain or shine if you're expecting to see animals you might be a little disappointed.

One of my personal favorites is the veal chop -- but fair warning, it's definitely a two-person chop! Generous, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The location of the 32 Custom House building (and the parking lot that was the former Daniels building) provides a sweeping view of the wall from the Weybosset bridge and river. According to the City Department of Art, Culture & Tourism, "Weybosset Street was a site where three important Indian trails met, one coming down from the north, the second up from the southeast Mount Hope region called the Wampanoag Trail, and the third up from Connecticut in the southwest called the Pequot Trail." Gaia's opening idea for the mural was to consider erasure, considering the landscape that existed before colonial settlement, asking the question of whose history gets recorded and whose doesn't. As he captures in his artist interview (viewable above), through partnership and permission seeking with the Tomaquag Museum, the work evolved into a narrative that captures a living person holding legacy and tradition, advocating for human rights and environmental justice, a people still here across time that continues today. As I volunteer at the Visitor Center, this is one of the public art pieces that most people ask about and it's part of the self guided public arts tour established by the Avenue Concept group.

The Urban Coastal Greenway of northern Narragansett Bay is a project that plans to provide green…read morespaces in many sections of the Providence metro area. Last August 17, 2023, a high profile section of the Greenway was opened by the Governor and Mayor in an area near Eddy Street and Point Street. The Urban Coastal Greenway is nestled behind Wexford's South Street Landing Redevelopment properties in the Providence Innovation and Design District. The Urban Coastal Greenway includes 15% vegetation throughout the entire development site, offering twice the public access as typically required, and includes a major stormwater management infrastructure. To meet the conditions for a sustainable greenway, the project includes dozens of green planting areas all located along pathways, which are next to the pedestrian bridge, which at the same time connects the greenway to the 195 District Park, a seven-acre waterfront park on the other side of the South Street Landing development. Benches, plantings, and a dock on the Providence River are also part of this beautiful Greenway. I love walking and exercising in this part of the city...it's green, lush and well kept. A jewel for all of those wanting a nice place to stroll around the river. For those wanting to to make a loop around this green space (Fox Point park, 195 district park and Waterplace park), it's about a 3 mile loop from the Providence Place Mall / Waterplace Park basin to the Fox Point Bridge and back.

That's what good business is about. The Backyard food Company had all types of jams and spreads. The best one I think was the wholly jalenpeno! Wow. So happy these are available at Daves market ! My other favorite was the Appetito Foods table. They had all kinds of vinegars and oils. My friend got the chili pepper oil and I got balsamic vinegar. Backyard Food Company is another gem -- the folks working that booth were so passionate about their product. Their price point also sets them apart. They show that you can produce great things and not charge folks an arm and a leg, just because you can. I begged them to let me buy their last jar of jalapenos, despite it not having a label! Gull chocolates were AMAZING. The coffee and salted caramel truffles were my two favorites, but everything I tried was super delicious and high quality. Titos Cantina was giving away coupons for free salsa (with a purchase of a meal at their restaurant). It definitely made me visit them. Their chips and salsa tasted so fresh and flavorful. My final shout-out is Appetito Foods. Their oils were so flavorful and lovely. They sampled a cherry balsamic reduction on vanilla ice cream that made me squee. All in all, a wonderful night.
