We came here on a Sunday for a late lunch / early dinner. The hostess was friendly and got us seated immediately in a nice little booth in the corner. Our server, Morgan was fantastic! She did a really nice job of making sure we had drink refills, sauces, extra napkins, etc. She provided us with great service throughout our visit I was blown away by how swiftly our meals came out! I typically do not default to ordering chicken tenders but I love theirs at JNN! So crispy on the outside and tender. I also had collard greens as my side; they were seasoned and well prepared. I added a little pepper sauce ( I'm southern). Oh and I can't forget about those warm , beautiful cheddar muffins - Whew! My guest had a pork plate with fries and onion rings. They enjoyed their meal as well. JNN is definitely a good go to family friendly restaurant that offers nice food options. The inside was clean but the floor was a little slippery. They also have a nice sized patio with TVs. This was my first time here at this location and the experience exceeded my expectations!

Jim 'N Nick's has that welcoming, Southern barbecue vibe the moment you walk in. Service is friendly and quick, even during the lunch rush. Of course, the meal kicked off with their famous cheese biscuits--warm, cheesy, and impossible to stop eating. I went with the barbecue chicken as my entrée, and it hit the mark--smoky, tender, and paired perfectly with the sauces on the table. My colleague ordered the chicken barbecue salad, which came out fresh, generous in portion, and topped with a good amount of pulled chicken. Both plates left us satisfied without being overdone. The sides were on point too--the baked beans had that deep, slow-cooked flavor, and the cole slaw added a crisp, refreshing crunch to balance the meal. And our server, Paige, was friendly, helpful and made the experience complete. Jim 'N Nick's is consistently solid and remains one of the more dependable barbecue spots in Birmingham.

It's a good, sit-down barbeque spot. Do I think Jim 'n Nick's is the best barbeque in town? Ehhh. But if you're searching for a slightly fancier ambiance, this is the place. All the classic things you could want. I normally get a pulled pork plate, but the ribs are also good. Collards could come with a little more pot likker (yes, non-Alabamians, that is the word). Mac is ok, but missing some crusty bits that would make it shine. Service is always ok. They're pretty on top of things, but usually acting like they're too busy for you. Lots of running around. The have a few beers on draft including Cahaba Blonde. Like many family-friendly restaurants, I can't help but feel like every surface in here in kinda sticky. The drive-thru line is usually buzzing. I love that they offer that so you can just swing in on your way home. Convenience is a luxury, though. Is it just me or is barbeque everywhere so expensive now?

Lisa was our server today. I haven't been here for a while. The place is always neat and proper. Waited shortly to be seated and sat in a booth. Remembered the rib tips but they were no longer on the menu. I ordered the catfish and collards and corn on the cob. Catfish and collards were good. Corn on the cob is delicious with the white bbq sauce. The lighting is always good and adds to the atmosphere of the diner. The only thing that stopped the 5 stars is they still don't have Crystal, Bull or Franks hot sauce. They still only carry Tabasco and that just wont do it for me. Food was still good but I like to put hot sauce on my greens and fish. To end on a great note, Lisa was an awesome waitress and a have to give "her 5 stars." She took great care of us. Thank you.

Jim n Nick's Bar-B-Q rarely disappoints and the Hoover, Alabama location is no exception. The staff here are friendly and professional, it has a great ambiance and vibe, and the food is fantastic. I would definitely recommend the chicken. That is basically my go-to when ordering Ata Jim n Nick's Bar-B-Q. It is juicy and tasty and their Alabama white sauce is a perfect addition for their chicken. If you are in Hoover, Alabama, I would definitely recommend Jim n Nick's Bar-B-Q and I give it five stars.

My son suggested this and this location in particular. He likes the Carolina style barbecue. I got the brisket platter with slaw and fries. They have the GOOD ranch, folks. (iYKYK) The brisket was chefs kiss!!!! It's a family friendly spot which also means it's a loud environment. Claire was our server and she's clearly been doing this for some time. Very efficient, perfect amount of interaction and pleasant. I'll definitely be going back for more.

Went in to place a to go order and ended up having a solo dinner at the restaurant . To start, the staff is very nice and engaging. Angela took care of me and answered multiple questions about the menu and offered terrific suggestions. She even brought me some cheddar biscuits on the house! The food was delicious my favorite being the smoked sausage and house made bbq sauce. The Mac and Cheese was very flavorful and the coleslaw did a great job at cutting through the strong Smokey flavors. The sweet tea was perfect, I didn't have to water it down as it had just the right amount of sugar. The atmosphere was casual and inviting. Definitely a great place to visit as a group or as a solo traveler like myself!

We ordered takeout from Jim 'N Nick's for our last night in Hoover visiting family. Besides the usual bbq chicken, brisket, pulled pork, and ribs, we also got some salads. wings with white sauce, catfish, sides of Mac and cheese, baked beans and onion rings, and of course those bomb little cornbread muffins. Overall the food was very tasty! A family favorite for sure and will look forward to our next visit and some more good eats!

I took my parents to lunch at Jim N Nicks Bar-B-Q here in Hoover. My parents had never eaten at one and, when the manager came by the table we told her it was their first time and she gave them a free slice of chocolate and lemon pie. The restaurant was decorated very nice, our server was wonderful, our food tasted great. My parents liked it so much they want to try the one in Tuscaloosa next time.

I enjoyed the jnn original burger

Bbq salads FTW! We had ordered chopped southern salads which were accompanied by complementary cheese biscuits. Honestly, the cheese biscuits themselves are my favorite thing they offer! The staff is very friendly and they all have the sweetest southern charm. The salads we ordered were huge and super filling.

Unfortunately Archie's not convenient for me, so I don't get to Archie's nearly enough. But I know where to go when it counts! The ole fashioned home-made fried Apple and Peach pies remind of my grandmother's, she used to make these fried pies for the "Real" Original Golden Rule in Irondale when it was across the street, from the current Irondale locations many years ago. The beans and coleslaw are also excellent. I think Archie's may have some of these vintage photos inside if my memory serves. I grew up with my grandad standing me on the kitchen table as a toddler while he made up the original Golden Rule BBQ Sauce in gaint pickle jars. The jars was bigger than I was. I still have this original Golden Rule sauce recipe that Archie's uses. They do an excellent job! Nothing has changed at this location but the name. Still the best BBQ in town. The complete package. The servers always do a great job, those that take and fetch to go orders from the parking lot are really efficient. The only constructive advice I would give is this owner, is to Keep Up The Work ! You order at the counter, which can be a little hectic for a first-timer. Luckily for me, I knew what I wanted and quickly found it on the big menu on the wall beside me. I later noticed that people were looking at handheld menus as you entered the restaurant. There was no one in front of me when I entered, so I didn't see those. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful in answering my questions. I ordered the pulled pork shoulder tray with two sides. If you have read my reviews, you know I only eat fries, so I doubled up the fries. You are given a number and can sit anywhere in their very big (for a BBQ joint) indoor dining area, or you can sit on a patio or outside. The walls are COVERED with pictures of old movie posters, country music stars, album covers, car tags, signs, and even a picture of the NWO (IYKYK). I didn't see the required Alabama BBQ joint picture of The Bear, Alabama football coach Paul Bryant, but with so many things on the wall, I'm sure it has to be there somewhere. There is a separate 'To-Go' spot for placing orders on the run. This also looked like a bar area as I saw advertising for alcohol. They also offer T-shirts and hats for sale if that is your thing. The menu consists of burgers, tacos, brisket, chicken, catfish, smoked chicken wings, BBQ nachos with just about any kind of side you can ask for, and pie for dessert. My order was brought to me in a timely manner. The BBQ is West Tennessee-style whole hog that Martin's cooks low and slow over hickory wood for up to 24 hours. The pulled pork is melt-in-your-mouth delicious, topped off with their special Jack's Creek BBQ sauce, on the table, which is a sweet vinegar and pepper-based sauce. I did see other sauces behind the counter, so I'm sure you just have to ask. The portions were just right for me. The fries are real cut potatoes that have been peeled. I doubled up, and that was enough to feed a family of four. Next time I will just ask for one side so as not to waste fries. The Jack's Creek sauce was great poured over my fries; it is water-based and not thick, and that is how I like my sauce. The sweet tea wasn't as sweet as some places, but I'm not complaining; it was good, and the day was hot. There seemed to be a lot of staff working. I guess it can be busy on Saturdays for lunch. I visited around 2:30 pm, and it was not crowded when I arrived but picked up as my time went on. The staff didn't have anything to say as several walked past me while doing random things. Not that it's a bad thing; I just always acknowledged customers with a "how ya doing?"--little things. The music was a mix of classic rock, soft 70s to hair metal, set at a decent volume. I don't mind being able to hear the radio, but maw maw and paw paw may complain that it was too loud. The parking lot may fill up with a big dinner crowd as there is a business next door that shares the parking lot. There is handicap parking available. Overall, Martin's offered a cool atmosphere for BBQ and a relaxing meal. They offer live music some nights (check their website), and it seems to be a great place for socializing in a casual setting. /5 -Kevin

My wife and I ate at Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint for the first time today, and we have found our new favorite BBQ joint. We enjoy watching Pat Martin's tv show, "Life of Fire," so we came with very high expectations. They surpassed them. When we stepped out of the car the smoke BBQ smell was amazing. I ordered a pulled pork shoulder sandwich and asked them to top it with coleslaw and had a side of mac & cheese and bought a second side, cornbread hoecake. Martha ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans. I started with the mac & cheese. It was delicious with plenty of cheese and baked to perfection with a crispy cheese top. Really delicious. The cornbread hoecake was incredible it looks like and has the consistency of a pancake. You must order that when you go. Then I picked up the pulled pork shoulder sandwich and sunk my teeth in it. Oh, my! Pulled pork at its best. I added the Jack's Creek vinegar-based sauce to it, and wow, that added even more outstanding flavor to it. I've found my new favorite BBQ sauce. Martha thoroughly enjoyed her sliced brisket sandwich. We both had a bite of each others sandwiches and both were mouth-satisfying delicious. The brisket was perfect. The baked beans were very tasty, too. Everything was about as perfect as you can get at a BBQ joint. Pat Martin knows his BBQ, just as he displays on his show "Life of Fire." Before I could say anything, Martha said, "This is the best BBQ I've ever had. Let's come back for lunch tomorrow." She didn't have to twist my arm. We still like many other delicious BBQ restaurants in Birmingham, and will eat at them again, but Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint is our new favorite. In a city where BBQ is king, Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint sits atop the throne. We returned the next day for lunch. : Martha enjoyed the mouth watering and mouth satisfying Pulled Pork Sandwich topped with coleslaw and deliciously seasoned and crisp homemade chips. I threw down on a half slab of fall off the bone full flavored ribs. I got half of the ribs Memphis dry rub and the other half wet (St. Louis style). They were amazing! My sides were broccoli salad (because I'm a health nut) and homemade fries. And, of course, the delicious cornbread hoecake. We can't wait to come back to B'ham again to try more delicious food here at Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint.
