The hitch n post is your average bar with good wait staff and good food. The crowd seems mostly to be locals. I had the mushroom burger with fries and a couple soda's. The waitress was nice and kept the drinks cold and coming on the regular. The bar atmosphere could use an update. It's a little more for us older folks but with a little design update a younger crowd might enjoy the place as well. Im still giving 4 stars because the food and wait staff was nice. I'll be back to try another round though. read more

I have been going to hitch n post since I moved here in 2020. The dine in service was great at first, but slowly it has become worse over the years. I started to get take out so I could enjoy their food as their ranch wraps are the best in town, but... I placed a pick up order tonight that was supposed to have extra ranch and ranch on the side with fries. There was barely a handful of fries and no extra ranch on the side or wrap. This is not the first time this has happened since I started ordering pick up. It seems I need to check my order before leaving, but that's next to impossible when there's only one person working the bar and one waitress and one cook. They are clearly overwhelmed. I don't think the food is worth it anymore, even for the decent price. This is the last time I will be returning for a while. -sad and disappointed customer. read more

Our waitress told us to leave. She would not allow my 20 year old to stay and watch the band with me, her parent! The lead singer is 17! AND, this bar has had waitresses that were under 21!! Liquor control states that anyone under 17 is allowed to be in a barroom as long as they are with a parent! There are too many nicer places to go and be treated well. Some of the construction on I-69 took my brother and I a bit off our standard route which was frustrating as heck until we found this diamond in the rough. It's a bar. Note that it's clean and the bar staff were friendly. It's a bar and we were sitting right up at it. Got to see all of our lunch being prepped, griddled and fried. Really big burgers guys. They have a smaller size, but the big ones? Well, they're big. I'm not complaining. Lunch ended up covering dinner. Local bar of course. Everyone seemed to know everyone, but they were plenty accepting of us. Over all. It's a bar (did I mention that yet?). Don't expect more. We walked in and sat ourselves, then weren't welcomed for at least 5 minutes. the bartender asked for our drink orders to which my boyfriend ordered a alcoholic beverage and i ordered a pop. she made the drink then proceeded to ask for our IDs, when my boyfriend handed her his ID and i said i didnt bring my wallet as i didn't plan on drinking we were told i couldn't be there without an ID. we left and paid for his drink without even taking a single sip. It is unacceptable to make someone spend their money on a beverage that wasn't even drank because their employees didn't check an ID before making the beverage. Even if it wasnt for the experience we had, the service was very unprofessional and rude. As first time customers we were overwhelmingly disappointed. read more

The place has terrible staff, normally I just heard about the staff being very rude and just not doing their job! I then had my own bad experience with the staff being very rude and cussing, super unprofessional. They also have mention not to drink the water due to them having a shallow bad well. Small town diamond in the rough. The bar yields some of the greatest burgers cooked before your eyes and doesn't skimp on the sides. The decor is rough and rugged displaying the true colors of a good old Lapeer bar. I have been frequenting the Hitch-N-Post since 1998. I always get the Paul Buger and sourcreme fries. In my opinion....the best burger around. If I can't get to Lucky's to get a great steak, my 2nd choice is a Paul Burger. Plus, its cheaper than a combo meal at McDonalds. The live music on the weekends can't be beat either. Stone Wall blew me away last time I was there. As long as it sticks around...I will be a life long customer. read more
