I would hesitate to come back in the evening, only because as the night went on there were some patrons so drunk that the atmosphere started feeling really amped up in a concerning way, like a fight was about to break out at any moment. It's not a big place inside so it could quickly get out of hand. I can say when something like that happens anywhere, it's not a situation to find yourself in as an innocent bystander. Had it not been for that element it would have been a really enjoyable night out, but alcohol and aholes don't mix well together. The food was good, although some of the meats were a little dry. We had just come from the BBQ Festival where we had some amazing brisket, so admittedly the bar was pretty high! All of the sauces here were really good. The Hickory was a little sweet for me, but that's just personal preference. Our server Donna was great. Thus, I get treated as a friend-of-a-friend, not an outsider. Otherwise, I surely would have experienced even more of the negative things these other folks are posting about than I already have. Bottom line, this place is a freaking dive, is filthy, and has awful service. The employees mostly have attitude problems-- I was looked at funny when simply ordering a beer, as if they didn't want my business because I wasn't one of their regulars. This is nowhere to take a client, a co-worker, a friend, or anyone else whom you want to have a respectable experience. The only reason I go here is that the trainer goes here all the time and they have a good beer selection-- and there's nothing else I'm really wanting to do after being on the gun range all day. Also, they have a pool table and it's two blocks from the Jefferson Inn, where I normally stay while in town. The staff needs a major attitude adjustment, and also compliance training so they don't over-serve. This should be a place where customers are welcomed, not a locals-only watering hole where I can barely get service. This place is often empty, while there are other establishments in town that are crushing it and are always packed, so obviously folks are voting with their feet.
