This is a great little consignment tack shop and trailer service / sales shop in NEWBERG. First- it's has a great selection of tack and is the only place like it for about 30 miles. Their staff is also helpful and knowledgeable! The best thing is their flexibility. I was in desperate need of a gooseneck trailer hitch. In fact, I needed one within a week. I called about 20 places and no one could do it. They fit me in on a cancellation list and got it done 3 days later. The turn time everywhere else was about a month out. The best part? Their price was a couple hundred less then the other quotes I was getting as well. I purchased a Featherlite horse trailer on 2/13/18 from Hitchin Post Trailers, LLC. I spoke with Ashley the owner and specifically asked the following questions regarding the condition of the trailer tires, roof, bearings, brakes, and floor. Ashley called back within an hour after sending her service department to inspect the trailer regarding my questions and stated; the roof needed resealed, which Hitchin post completed. I was told the bearings were replaced 1 year ago, brakes were in good condition, tires were in good condition, but all different tires. I was assured a service personnel lifted the matts and inspected the floor that it was in fact in good condition followed with a photo of a small portion of the floor which was still in good condition. After purchasing the trailer, it was taken to a Featherlite dealer in Lincoln California "Western Featherlite" The trailer was sent to them for a cleaning only. Upon cleaning trailer, they noticed "multiple holes from erosion and floor is lifting from the cross member bars. Strongly recommended to have the flooring overlaid with new aluminum sheets and welded to the cross member bars to be safe for hauling horses. As is the trailer is not safe for horses." I have contacted Ashley several times to resolve this matter with no resolve. I have filed formal complaints with the appropriate agencies and would recommend anyone purchasing a trailer from this company to get your own inspection as they are not truthful in their assessments. read more

I am new to the area and was having a hard time finding a full-service place to work on a horse trailer. Seems like most places around here focus on RV or auto, neither of which really translate to the specific needs of horse trailers, which have notoriously inconsistent wiring and can literally rot out from under you horse's feet if you aren't careful. What stood out to me right away was how easy Hitchin Post was to reach by email. It is a huge relief to me not to have to call all the time. I basically sent a list of the repairs I needed and they replied, "Yep, we can do all that." After I dropped the trailer off, I thought of a couple more things I would want done. I sent them a quick email and got a reply right away that they would add it to the work order. The shop is very easy to get to and has a reasonable amount of space to turn around a large vehicle. All of the staff members I met were courteous and helpful in person. I had to pick up my trailer from them late on a Friday afternoon because of work obligations, but I never felt like they were rushing me out the door to get started on their own weekend. They answered my questions and helped me get my new hitch balanced correctly. I felt like the repair cost was a little on the higher end, but not totally outrageous. Highly highly disappointed. After what I considered grossly over charging, really, $99 an hour for labor for a horse trailer? And also being charged for things good service people would include. I had them work on electrical and when I hooked it up to pull it out of there the electrical didn't work... They did fix it thank God, but then they did nothing else, even a loose screw was not tightened. Never had such a poor poor experience. read more

Bought a used 3H trailer with a LQ. I had some work done on my truck and trailer here and they were unable to do some of the work on the generator. I was told that they serviced the generator but they could not replace the fuel pump. I took it to TNT Motorsports and they were able to replace the fuel pump. TNT looked at the mirrors that Hitchin Post installed on my truck and the 10" gooseneck offset on the trailer, both were installed wrong so TNT fixed them and told me that the generator should not be ran until I get the door and the air filter. I asked Ashley bout all my issues and told her not only did I have to pay you to go the work but I also had to pay another company to fix your work. Ashley just sat there and smiled and said we have never put on mirrors before. So why in the hell did you say you could do this and charge me $150.00 to do the work and $50.00 to install the new batteries, $50.00 to install the new 10" offset (which was not install properly) and $1200.00 to service the trailer. This should have all been included with the $1200.00 to service the trailer. You have been warned about their workmanship not only by me but review the other posts. Dishonest business practices as far as I'm concerned. I was selling a trailer on Craigslist when Ashley contacted me. I had no qualms with anyone purchasing the trailer and flipping. It needed work that I was unable to do and knew that it was worth more if someone was willing and able. This couple not only gave a completely made up story but was shady when I asked for their address to file the report of sale. I found my trailer listed on their website with an asking price only $250 under what I bought it for brand new 20 years ago (which is WAY over priced in my book for a 20 year old trailer with rust.) Looked like they had done some of the refurbishing work but not all. I'd hate to hear the story they told the new buyer. Needless to say, lying does not sit well with me in any form. Wouldn't trust them in the slightest when buying a used trailer. read more

A few years ago my Friends bought 2 horses and NO TACK, so found this great place. It is like a candy store for horse lovers ! High end as well as VERY reasonable priced tack, got everything they needed from saddle pads to winter blankets. I then brought in my travel trailer which needed a new furnace and they were able to beat the price point from the other places and the work was done perfectly. Now need a new window placed in my Mirage trailer and a new metal cabinet welded in, will get that scheduled in soon. Ashley is very easy to talk with and very knowledgeable and Nick the mechanic is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. Today I am headed down there to pick out a saddle for my niece who doesn't know there is a beautiful QH in his Christmas bag, she was such a good girl this year ! read more

Crooked Scoundrels! I called in advance to have a simple "Complimentary Estimate" done on my trailer. I drove several hours to get to them, they spent less than 5 minutes looking and said they'd "get me a figure tomorrow ". Weeks passed and they still didn't have a number for me. I had done all the prep and removed the 2 small bad panels and they were asked to give a figure on dropping in 2 prefab panels 24 in x36 inch and riveting in place. Nothing fancy. No finished interior present, all intact beautiful steel framing grid to just set it in and rivet. I even showed them I already had the panels. Now, 6 weeks later they send me a bid for nearly $3,000 and more ridiculously, a BILL of nearly $100 for my "Complimentary Estimate". Very unsound business practice and unsubstantiated claim to need to totally reconstruct work that had just been completed by a professional marine welding service in Newport Oregon. Shame on you! Shame, shame! Cute little retail shop but something is VERY UNETHICAL with the repair shop. INSURANCE COMPANIES BEWARE OF THEIR ESTIMATES. LOOK AT THIS SIMPLE JOB THEY WANTED NEARLY 3K FOR AND GET THE WORK DONE ELSEWHERE!!! JUST THINK, if they are willing to rip me off like this and I have proof and pictures of inside and out, just think what they might try to do to an insurance company dealing with a trailer with a finished interior whose framing cannot be seen.
