View of our room were the open fields, though we kept the window blinds drawn for some privacy. Plenty of hot water available in the bathroom and we felt safe at night. There's no breakfast due to COVID, but they offer some oatmeal and granola bars in the lobby. Location is pretty good; walking distance to a grocery store if you need anything, as well as 15 minutes to Lime Rock, and 10 minutes to a lovely village called Millerton. Keli couldn't have been more friendly; she greeted us right away and gave us all of the information we needed for our stay. The common areas are quiet and stunning, each with a fireplace and either books to read or games to play. The whole house is beautifully decorated, has nice amenities, and is a close walk to the quaint downtown. We could not recommend this place enough whether you're looking to relax and unwind in your room and spaces or explore the outdoors in the beautiful surrounding area.

Winvian is very private, You can't just stroll in. Reservations are necessary, and you'll need to get buzzed in. The restaurant is part of a hotel operated on an updated estate. The restaurant is located in a beautiful classic white house. The bar has stunning emerald wall coloring adjacent to a glass window. The main dining room is lovely. Top grades for atmosphere. They even have a Michelin Star for the Hotel. Other than our server having a temporary memory lapse about the flavor profile of sorrel , service was pretty much perfect. Friendly. Helpful. Efficient. For example, our server was able, at our request, to serve Belden House's famous chocolate chip cookies even though they weren't on the dinner menu. They were delicious. The food ranged from good to very good. My wife and I split (1) sourdough focaccia and cultured butter; (2) shrimp with fennel in a sorrel sauce, (3) pappardelle with pork shoulder; (4) green garlic linguine with clams, preserved lemon and sake; and (5) Short Rib with persimmons and sunchokes. The bread was very good. The shrimp had good texture and that dish was cool visually. I was a fan of both pasta dishes. They both had a nice acidity, which you don't always see with pasta dishes. The shredded pork was tasty. The short rib wasn't a highlight for me, but it was good. It had a firmer texture than I'm used to. The persimmons brought a cool shape and color, but I didn't love the flavor with the short rib. We had a great experience. I recommend Belden House for an upscale night. 4.5 Stars

DINING EXPERIENCE: If you haven't visited the Belden House dining room yet, lunch is a good first introduction. The lunch menu offers familiar classics, but with surprising twists in ingredients and/or preparation that elevates each dish. Servers are well-informed and will enthusiastically outline what makes any dish special. It is apparent that the chef, Tyler Heckman, devotes much thought and care into the creation of these dishes and has high level of culinary knowledge and skill. Case in point the clam chowder with kombu.... Cream is steeped with seaweed blades to impart unique flavor, and slivers of celery are blanched and placed on the base of the serving bowl, allowing preservation of the vegetable's crisp texture. Lunch is served in the dining room every day to both overnight guests and the public (age twelve and up) between 11 and 5. That caught my attention. I'm a great lover of historic buildings. This one has enjoyed several different lives, but the newest iteration opened in 2024. The owners have paid close attention to many details that show they value the history of the building - from the furniture in the multiple small dining rooms to the reproduction wallpaper on the walls. I loved the use of large candles in the fireplaces to replicate the light of a fire. Our meals were from the Prix Fixe Menu for $50 per person. I was delighted to see later that Lost Fox Inn advertises a Prix Fixe Menu on Thursdays for $60 per person. I enjoyed the Corn Chowder soup appetizer, which was different from any chowder I've ever eaten but very flavorful. My main course was Orecchiette, a delightful maitake and shiitake mushroom pasta dish that is flavored with lemon, pecorino Romano, rosemary, oregano and topped with breadcrumbs. Dessert was a chocolate mousse topped with pickled blackberry and mint. Really delicious. We booked an early dinner and were delighted to find that we were the only ones seated in our small dining room. As the hour progressed, more and more people filled the room, and interestingly each group took advantage of the restaurant week menu (many of the items are on the regular dinner menu). The wait staff was very attentive, checking in and answering questions about the menu items. I look forward to a return visit because the food was really outstanding.

I was completely charmed over by the Wake Robin Inn; it was love at first sight from the moment we…read morepulled into the driveway. This tiny inn is literally in the middle of nowhere, and there are less than 20 rooms, but it is perfect for an unplugged weekend getaway (although they do have free wifi) or a wedding, which is what we were there for. The layout is a tad confusing. The main inn is almost at the end of a tiny dirt road, but there is an "outhouse" of rooms closer to the entrance. I'm also not sure if there is an official restaurant or not because we missed breakfast and the wedding was catered by an outside company. The grounds are natural and beautiful -- like a well-manicured backyard complete with garden, fire pit and gazebo. Our room felt like my old bedroom in my parents' house, with a private bathroom. I truly felt like I was a guest in someone's home -- down to the communal iron and ironing board propped against the wall in the hallway. Given that this is a tiny inn, there are no newfangled key cards; they use old-fashioned keys, and our room was unlocked when we arrived. This normally would be sketchy, but in such a small, remote place, it didn't bother me. There is also no central air conditioning, but there are air conditioning units in all rooms along with ceiling fans. It was summer, so it didn't bother me in the least, but it didn't appear there was heat in our third floor "servants' quarters" room, and there was a space heater in the closet. There are extra blankets on the bed, and I'm sure heat rises, but it is something to be aware of if you are visiting during the New England winter. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. There are a couple of key points that prevent me from giving Wake Robin five stars. 1. The mattresses could use replacing. This too felt like my childhood bedroom where the mattress is 27 years old and hard as a rock. 2. The bathroom amenities, while all natural and eco-friendly, were a tad sparse. This curly-haired girl needs conditioner people! And while there were cotton balls, Q-tips and makeup remover pads, there were no tissues. Odd. 3. I understand TV isn't the priority, but a tiny 30-inch rear projection on an end table tucked under an eave? At least fake an entertainment center. 4. A pub would be adorable right off the lobby, offering simple sandwiches, salads and drinks. Overall, we had a lovely night at the Wake Robin Inn, and I would consider returning for a little weekend getaway. The nearby town centers are so quaint and worth exploring.
