Never going back. Stylist never on time and constantly "rescheduling". Place smells like weed as some of the stylists are vaping. No wonder the haircut was so wonky. Definitely a sad site as a mom walking in with a kid and seeing the situation and then being told that they have no time to cut kids hair, and they are all just sitting around. read more

The cut I got was not the one I asked for and I paid 30 bucks for it, the guy told me I asked for this and he spent hella time but it's too short on the sides and the top is uneven and too long If you want an actual quality haircut for a great price, then I'd suggest Around the Edge Barbershop on 25th...much better quality haircuts and the barbers actually care about their customers. read more

Was told to come in before 2, got there at 1. was told that 20 minutes till my cut even though there was a barber Free, he was acting like he didn't want the money and was leisurely playing in a hover board. Went to the store to grab some water, came back and the barber who said 20minutes changed his tune and told me to come back later. This was my first experience here and honestly I'll never use this place. They seem to only cater to Latinos and don't wanna cut Black Folks. Or they don't want money. read more

Recently I moved across town and was looking for a barber closer to my new residence, so I walked in to Hitters Barbershop which was the closest to my new house to find a "In a pinch" barber, I met one of the resident barbers and took a card. I made an appointment (approximately 3 days in advance) for my young son today 10-27-18, we arrived 15 min early, we then waited 10 minutes PAST the scheduled appointment time and the barber pulled a now show no call. I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and stay with my usual on 5th Ave, lesson learned my usual is worth the trip and reliable. Honestly this place is not reliable and the barbers are bit unprofessional. If you have an appointment expect to wait 10-20 minutes after your appointment before you actually get in the chair. Haircuts are just ok. Looks good for a couple days. Not great with scissors. My hair grows back very poorly with the cuts from here. read more

Went in for a haircut b/c I just moved to San Mateo from Oakland, where I'm from and usually get my haircut. I never cared to stop in here WHY b/c I run my own barbershop in the east and don't usually patronizing with other shops especially if it ain't no black, or mature barbers. I like mine seasoned. (this visit was a friendly reminder why). This particular day I didn't have time to go all the way too Oakland just for a line I needed it ASAP. I go in as soon as possible last Friday. Which was around 10:30. I immediately notice out of the what, 10 chairs they had in there, only ONE barber was present. I get it. This is a service industry where these cats can make there own schedule and be their own boss yadada. But how tf you ain't got no bodies in your establishment on a FRIDAY?.. In a prime location like you guys are at. Nonetheless I let that go, dude asked if I was a walk in, said yes, he was cutting someone but said as soon as more people arrive they could take me. Again, how is it Friday and you have CUSTOMERS waiting for service at a 8/10 head shop? This cat Richie cut me up and it was... AITE at best. Definitely not worth the $30 they running you. I had to ask him to take it lower for me b/c I like a clean 1. He gon ask if I meant a "low 1 or a super low 1". Like dude I ain't got that much hair on my head. My neck didn't even look like he tried to fade it and my sideburns which I thought were cool started growing back strange like they were cut properly the first time. Hello Everyone! Ask for Richie! During the pandemic I did something crazy and used the cat grooming tool to keep my hair away from my neck and ears - a bit of a wacky mohawk. I liked the look and wanted it to look better - more even - less untamed mess. I went to Hitter's Barber Shop because the folks looked like they wouldn't judge me for my wackiness. I was introduced to Richie, explained what I did and what I wanted and he was great. He talked to me about what I was looking for during the cut so he could do exactly what I wanted. As a person with curley hair discussing the cut during the cut is very important - I have been disappointed in the past. I am so happy with my new hair style and Richie was awesome. Besides giving me a great hair cut he managed to make me look 10 years younger. Ask for Richie! read more

I took my 12 year old stepson here for a haircut today. His mom has always been his hairdresser and has always done a great job. This was his first time in a barbershop and it was a home run! Nick was his barber and not only did he give the kid the swag haircut he wanted, but he also made him comfortable and gave him great life advice. All the barbers are young, the music was great and clearly these young men are community minded. They had the Second Harvest Food Bank bin out front and when a homeless man walked by and asked for some money, one of the barbers (who was outside) reached into his pocket and gave the man change without blinking an eye. Very cool to witness. I highly recommend this place and we will be back in a few weeks when the boy needs his next cut! read more

Went for a walk-in and was pretty disappointed for the lack of customer service & customer courtesy. Walked in and all the barbers look up without any acknowledgement and cont. cutting hair. Had to go up to a barber myself and inquire about the walk-in list etc. There were about 5 people in front of me , I waited for about 75 minutes. Once it was my turn to be up next, FOUR barbers decided to take their break at the SAME time. Not one came over and assured me I was going to be next or to keep me updated on how much longer I'd have to wait. You would expect more from a shop that isn't well known , or with a staff of barbers that have average hair cutting skills at best. read more

My dad made an appointment on the phone for a haircut and shave.  I don't let him go anywhere on his own during the pandemic because he's old. We get to the shop, and there's a barber, properly wearing a mask, ready to give my dad the cut, but I notice another barber is not wearing his mask properly, with it under his nose, and another barber, seated in the waiting room watching TV, likewise is not wearing his mask properly.  So I tell the guy who's gonna cut my dad's hair that I'm nervous that these guys aren't wearing their masks properly and can he see to it that they do. One of the guys who doesn't wear a mask properly appears to be the owner.  As I stand in the waiting room, he tells me I need to go outside, which makes sense and is part of the covid protocol, and I do.  From outside I watch my dad getting a haircut.  For fun, I take some pictures  of my dad getting the cut.  The apparent owner then comes over to me and tells me he doesn't like that I'm taking pictures, that it seems to him it's a kind of set-up.  "No bro, just taking pictures of my dad."  He doesn't like that I gave them a hard time about the masks.  "Bro, you weren't wearing your masks properly.  See how I'm wearing mine?  See that it covers my nose?  That's how to wear a mask.  I'm not asking you to do anything I'm not doing, and following the protocols is a condition of you being in business.  And you weren't."  He utters more defensive nonsense, and I point out a fundamental fact he seems unaware of, "I brought you business, bro."   Later the apparent owner, ten minutes into my dad's cut, tells my dad he has to put his mask on-- which he had taken off because he was also gonna get a shave. Hmm, why didn't they have him wear it from the get go?  A few minutes later, they inform my dad they can't shave him because of covid.  The resentful owner-- resentful because he was putting his customers in danger and not following the regulations that allow the little bitch to even be open for business, and I called him on it-- says there was a misunderstanding: he thought it was to shave his head.  Who makes appointments for a haircut and shave, the shave referring to his head? The guy who cut my dad's hair did a good job and was considerate. I felt sorry for him having to deal with a boss who instead of taking responsibility and running the business well, acts like a little bitch, putting his customers and the public in danger.   In spite of that, I was surprised to see so many poor reviews here.  I guess the carelessness and lack of consideration I observed goes beyond covid precautions and safety. read more

I'm sitting in this shop right now. I've never been to a more unprofessional place in my LIFE. The barbers are cussing talking about fighting people... playing music that has extremely vulgar language. My boyfriend got a hair cut yesterday and it looked like absolute trash. It wasn't even and I'm pretty sure I could fade his hair better than they did and I'm not a barber. The men here are extremely disrespectful and LOUD. Also it smells like pot and I'm pretty sure almost all of them are stoned! One of the barbers was chewing gum while cutting someone's hair! Who does that? Extremely gross and unsanitary. If I could, I would give them no stars. Brought my son to this shop for a haircut and I asked the 1st barber if they accept walk ins and he said yes. He then started asking all the barbers if anyone wanted to take my son and they all, one by one, said no. Then the barber I spoke to said, "I guess we're not talking anymore clients". Walked in, not sure what to expect. I was greeted by a friendly guy who directed me to a barber right away. I wish I got his name 'cause he was great. He listened to me and understood my wacky hair. Gave me the best haircut I've had in years at a good price. The vibe was really mellow and comfortable. I was older than everyone by 20 years, easy, but I felt right at home. By far the worst barber experience ive had asked for a 00 high fade its a 0-1/2 at best if i would have asked for that on the sides great theres your two stars top though faux hawk pretty sure the side walls get cut to ladder up to a hawk in my every other cut at least thats how it is. ask him to cut an inch off the top felt him take off a few little hairs then he more or less played with the scissors to make it seem like he cut sh*t but the length of hair i went in with on top was the same length i went out with went back to get it fixed cut the front bit only and left all the back un evenly bigger these guys play a good act for a barber shop but the one guy i got my cut from Ian absolutely awful job hope u dont fu%k more shit up, if you choose to come here i hope you have a better experience. read more

Book a appointment with Tone for 1pm for the next day. Came to my appointment a few minutes early and he had someone else in the chair. I thought he was finishing up the cut but this went on for another 50 minutes! And when he was done I asked him if I can come sit down. He told me to wait for 5 minutes! He step out of the shop. Fast forward another 30 minutes, he hasn't come back and I'm asking the other barbers in the store to get in contact. As I was waiting for Tone to come back. I figured out that he was dealing with an injury from an accident he had. Hope he recovers well but he shouldn't be working and better yet booking people if he can't work. Wasted my time and I would say don't ever book something here with Tone. I just wasted my time and this is really unprofessional. read more

I dropped in to get my hair cut today. The place looks like a work in progress when you walk in, but with the grand opening sign I thought I would give it a try. It was not a great experience. The shop was not clean, they did not have supplies needed, the cut was not even close to on par with other shops I have been too. They just lacked the attention to detail. I hope they can get their act together as it would be nice to have a barber shop on 37th. read more
