I had an appointment for a haircut. They told me to come at 6:30 because a stylist would be ready. I show up at 6:05. 6:33 rolls around and nobody says a word to me. No update, no acknowledgment, no "hey we're running a few minutes behind." Just me sitting there like I have nothing better to do. I'm not an unreasonable person. Things happen. Stylists run late. I get it. But the bare minimum in any service business is communication. Just talk to me. Tell me what's going on. Treat me like my time has value. Nobody did that. So I walked out. 4.5 stars and 70 reviews tells me this place can do better because clearly people love it here. But whoever was working the floor tonight dropped the ball completely. You don't book someone, push them to 6:30, and then go silent when they actually show up on time. People say time is money. I just want to be treated decently. Neither happened tonight. The vibe of the place was okay, clean. The experience left a bad taste and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. read more

The owner-Fiona didn't listen to what I wanted and didn't introduce what kind of lashes they carried nor the prices. It was PAINFUL during the service. My own lashes are glued together and the glue is on my eyelid as well. I feel I'm the experiment and that even made me wondered if she had a proper training! I also feel like I'm scammed! DO NOT GO HERE! WORST HAIRDRESSER AND NEEDS TO BE CLOSED DOWN. FIONA MADE ME GO BALD AND BURNED MY SCALP. SHE ALMOST FACED A LAWSUIT WHICH I CAN 100% still go through with it. Negative 5 stars if I can. I got my hair colored here a few years ago and the first session went well. 2nd time I told her I wanted to go a little lighter and I asked her if it was okay since we did the first session no longer than 2 weeks. I thought she was a professional and I trusted her and she said that she can do it. During our 2nd session it was only Fiona in the salon and it took her 5 hours just for all my hair to fall out. My scalp was burned and I became bald. She offered me 2 years of hair care but with what hair? She burned off all my hair and it took me years to grow it back. I almost filed a lawsuit but didn't because I got too busy. I was wearing wigs for 2 years until I was comfortable enough with short hair. She convinced me to cut my hair shorter than I originally wanted, however it feels a lot healthier now. She gives great head massages and my scalp felt extremely clean afterwards. The whole process was almost an hour and I felt like she took her time to make sure the cut was perfect. Prices are really reasonable compared to other places in San Mateo that I went to ranging from $95 - 220. Parking is easy and there are many lots in downtown. Another plus is that she doesn't force you to make small talk. If you prefer to have a relaxing hair cut experience, try out this salon. read more

I highly recommend getting a cut and color from Fiona. I got a haircut from her a few months ago and she gave me what I wanted. I wanted layers since my hair was thick and heavy. She gave me layers that made my hair light but still had length. I didn't want my hair to be too short. As for color, Fiona did an amazing job! I originally wanted lavender but she told me it will not last long, so I opted for her recommendation to go with a darker purple. I haven't gotten my hair colored in years so I wasn't sure what to expect. I let her professional expertise take over and the results are amazing!! My daughter and I walked by while out shopping today, and the hairdresser called out, "Do you want a haircut?". My 3 year old who has never had a haircut said yes and started to follow her in. So, I ask about pricing and she's acting dodgy, saying she'll give us a discount. Then she says it's going to be the same as a men's cut. I force it out of her that the cut will cost $45. We go in and the sign says $30 for kids. When asked about it, she says, "No, her hair is long so it'll cost the same as a Men's Cut." I'm mad, but my daughter is already sitting in the chair and waiting for her first ever haircut. Shrugs....I gave in and let her do it, knowing we're getting ripped off. Heard of hair stylist Fiona's fantastic skills over the years , finally made our trip from the wine country to her new salon in San Mateo and have our appointments , we were late due to traffic , she had 2 haircuts in front of us , when it's our turn , I asked her to design a hair style for my kiddo , oh my god, look at it , she trimmed layers by layers over my kiddo's hair and made this "mushroom" style that matches her face . When it came to my turn, all I told her was to design a hair style that made me look younger and pro , she started her magic , now I look like the magazine page model .... she did not complained we were late and being so patient explaining to me her design on me .... we ended so happy leaving her salon.
