I purchased several items from an estate sale and needed movers to help with pickup and delivery to three different addresses. I had hired another moving company that turned out to be a nightmare. We waited at the estate sale for hours. They never showed or called. So, we called Hitzfelder Moving. I was told they had a move in the morning and would give me a call when they were on their way to the estate sale. As promised, they did, and we were on our way. They came in, checked what needed to be loaded and which items needed to be delivered first, second, and last. They carefully wrapped all the glass shelves in heavy blankets and the items with doors and drawers completely in plastic wrap so they would not open during the move. When they delivered the items, they checked to ensure each item was placed where we wanted it. All the plastic wrapping was removed and the glass shelves were set back into their respective piece. Some very heavy items needed to go upstairs which required removing the legs and a lot of maneuvering to get through tight spaces. But Adrian, Anthony and Jacob never complained. They were hard-working professionals, courteous, and graciously complied with our requests. They even moved a recliner from one of my bedrooms to make room for my new purchases and removed a heavy armoire from my daughter's house to be delivered to her son's home. We recently needed a moving company for a small move scheduled for the following day. Due to our time constraints, I went down the list of all movers in the area. I called 7 companies and Gene was the only one who answered his phone. He was personable, knowledgeable, and helpful. Being understanding of our urgent need, he offered to send a crew after their last job of the day. The crew was considerate and kind in an uncomfortable situation surrounding the move. They also were efficient, considerate and very careful with the items being moved. If I could give them a zero I would. They came highly recommended. I was moving over 50 miles. The would not move any of electronics, tv eat. because they were not in a box. Same with artwork, even though it was bubble wrapped. At my new place, the stacked heavy boxes on top of one another. I had to get my son to unstack them. Finally they were supposed to move a small storage unit that I had in the building. It was left in such a mess that it took me a day to clean and repack it. I had to rent a U-Haul van to complete the move that I had already paid for. No one ever followed up with me. In the past I have had such good experiences that this was devastating. If I had wanted to rent a U-Haul, I would have done that in the first place. read more

Everything went great, except items were stolen from us. A brand new large Tent $$ from Academy and a large briefcase socket set $$. No other individuals were involved in the move, so we know this moving company took these items. We got moved and settled in right before the BIG FREEZE, and we didn't immediately comb through all our belongings to make sure everything was good and accounted for. As we all know, moving is exhausting and mentally draining. Months later, we discovered these items were, without a doubt, missing. Sad world we live in these days. read more

I hired Hitzfelder to move us into a storage unit while we were out of the country for 6 months, then move us from storage into our new house. When our belongings arrived my office desk was broken and my leather sectional sofa was scratched in 4 places. As we unpacked, we discovered many missing items, including a queen sized mattress, all of our sheets/blankets, and our TV stand. When we brought it to Gene's attention, he agreed to put in an insurance claim to reimburse us. BEWARE OF SIGNING THE RECEIPT! When you do, you are agreeing to $0.60 per POUND for your missing or damaged items instead of replacement cost. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

We used this service once before years ago and were satisfied with the service we received. However, we just completed a move using this company and we are beyond disappointed!! We were told our cost would be $2500-3200 total. It ended up over $4400!!! And we were charged for boxes we didn't even get. We prepacked almost everything ourselves and moved a lot too. Worse, we have found numerous things damaged for no reason. Their attitude? Not my problem. Their workers? The worst slugs you could find - lazy and dishonest. This guy is making bank on the backs of unsuspecting customers and walks away knowing there's more suckers moving into the city every day, so who cares? It's a shame people reach a point in their life that they don't appreciate people, just money... read more

After moving my furniture from the storage in New Braunfels to new home We didn't find a lot of things. It was a first time with me that someone stole my things even we paid extra. Not recommend this company. The movers worked not accurately- they damaged some furniture. read more

They broke an antique foot board of a bed and hid it. They broke an old clock, a crate of stained glass, which was over 100 years old and didn't say anything. They gouged the front door jamb. They didn't set up all of the beds. They couldn't fit everything on the 2 trailers. We had to go back for that stuff, Which was 75 miles. They tore off molding on mirrors. I sent the business a complaint on their website and crickets. I had used them twice before and had no problems. Never again. read more

I used Hitzfelder a few years ago and finally have my opportunity to write my review. 3 of the workers moved me out of a 1 bedroom apartment in San Marcos into another apartment in New Braunfels very quickly. I was satisfied with the speed in which they worked(they were given each a very good tip). However after they left, I realized one of them had taken a small digital recorder from one of my open boxes. I am 100% sure it was stolen because I placed it in the box a few minutes before they arrived. The recorder was very small and not very expensive, but had alot of sentimental value because of music I had recorded on it. I will never use them again and hope that if you decide to, make sure you seal all your boxes and keep a watchful eye on you belongings. read more

Hitzfelder moved me twice, 2nd time lied about the how many hours they worked, disappeared with some of my items and left when I tried to do a walk thru of their moving van to see if everything was out, missing my custom glass shelves in my china cabinet, made ever excuse in the world not to pay me for them, and didn't pay me, charged me more than the other movers per hour,,,will NEVER use them again!!! read more

Used these guys to unload a 26' Penske truck. They arrived on time, 8:30 am, 3 guys. After working about 30 minutes the breakfest taco's came out and were consumed while working. Although everything got unloaded without anything broken it appeared a three hour job, based on the time it took to load the truck, was stretched to a 4 1/2 hour job. read more

This is the 3rd time we have used Hitzfelder to move. This move was a big 2 day move. We had a different 3 man crew both days. These guys are paid by the hour but do not try to stretch their time clocks. They work extremely hard. They have been extremely polite. They have also been very considerate of our furniture and belongings. Both crews have been very careful to not scratch any doors, walls or floors. We appreciate both crews hard work! read more

We used Hitzfelder to move us to Corpus. The team that showed up was pretty good. However the evening after they loaded everything I was missing my laptop bag. I brought it to their attention first thing the following morning when they arrived to unload our furniture and they didn't remember seeing it. When we contacted Gene Hitzfelder he stated that never happens and we had a trusted crew. He asked us to unpack everything and if we still couldn't find the bag with all the items in it we could file it against his insurance. Well, the on site team wouldn't leave unless we signed their paperwork. If this ever happens to you DO NOT sign the paperwork. Turns out after we signed it we agreed that everything was delivered ok. There's not a place to dispute items on the form and the crew will push for a signature. We thought that by talking with the owner we would be ok. Long story short the insurance company said we signed the paperwork and were only entitled for .60 cents for every pound of damages and sent a $12 check. That doesn't account for much when it's a laptop, iPad, AirPods and cash. After the insurance ruling I can't get a response from the company to discuss this further. Now I'm left with $3K of stolen items and a company that won't call me to discuss. DO NOT use them. I thought a local company would be more reputable to work with should any issues arise but that was not the case. read more

We used Hitzfelder to move from large home to storage unit and smaller home. They broke a desk and hid it in storage unit so that we did not find it until months later. They used 2 of our large ice chests to load pesticides from garage. Both ice chest had to be trashed. I have moved many times and never had this bad of experience. read more
