Did not mention any discounts and I didn't see any signs stating discounts. Then I go to the cashier, she ask for phone number, told her I don't want to give it to her. Didn't realize she was trying to get my membership number pulled up. Took out my credit card to pay and was told I'm not allowed make a purchase, so questioned her that I buy fish food from their Honolulu location, what does she mean I'm not allowed to make a purchase, then she clarified that since I'm not a member I'm not allowed to purchase live animals including fishes. I wanted to make sure I heard her correctly and restated back to her, so I have to be a member to purchase fish, she said yes, if not they couldn't sell me fish. So I question her, the fish in the bag will have to go back in the tank? She says yes. Silence..... So on my end I state, can I sign up to be a member, and from there it moved on to purchasing the fish. For those who want to return dead fish - the cashier explained to me the rules, bring back dead fish within 30 days, bring receipt, and bring some of the aquarium water (as they test the water), need these 3 items or they can't give you a return. The people that I interacted with kind of threw me off, almost like I were dealing with robots, I'm sure they are very nice people. But it got me thinking, what if I told fish person, I want 5 of this, 5 of that and 5 of that fishes, I'm pretty sure would have took +15 minutes to bring to the cashier. Then I tell cashier I don't have a membership, and we just stare at each other like robots. Get rid of the membership requirement to buy fishes.

Their services are on the higher end price-wise, but if you truly love your pet, it's worth paying a little extra for that level of care.

We had to pay upfront, which I understand to be common with vet emergencies, but they were still pushy and tried to sell us pet insurance. The medication they prescribed seemed to somewhat help, but we ended having to have him stay over 2 weeks at his regular vet, where they had to monitor him. Their treatment cost was only just under $2,000 for the entire 2 week stay. Turns out all he needed was a diet change. No major interventions, unlike what VERC had insisted. Our regular vet asked if VERC performed a urinalysis (as they said they should have done before making any moves). We realized they hadn't. I think VERC is obviously a spot to go in desperation, but I would not return. I understand it's a business at the end of the day, but their practices made us uncomfortable. It's clearly a profitable business to get into. No wonder so many vets keep opening up around Oahu. Will remain wary and won't be returning to this one.

The manager then decided to "refer out" my dog due to them not having an emergency vet on site, according to their policy that they have had since Petco grooming became a thing. Although I understand the safety concern, my dog's health has not changed in the past three years We have been making him monthly appointments. now all of a sudden, every manager and service worker in that Petco is concerned? So you're telling me for the past three years all your groomers have been out of policy? If this was missed for three years in a row , What else have your groomers done that has been outside of policy? I'm not only hurt because my dog is older & picky with his service people and never gave the groomers any trouble, but I'm also worried for the other animals out there that visit this location because who knows what else these people are sweeping under the rug or cherry picking what becomes in and out of policy. at my dogs elderly age, I just want him to be comfortable and serviced correctly. Petco was asking for a letter from the vet to say that he has no underlying conditions that would affect the service of trimming, his nails. A letter from a veterinarian ? To tell a groomer that an old dog's legs are weak, and he can't jump up on a table ? A letter from a veterinarian ????????????????????? comfortability at an elderly age. that's all I want. This Petco location made it seem like that was way too much to ask for, even though I have evidence of three years worth of grooming confirmation text messages. I hate that you blamed my dog for being old and aged. I hate that in his old age you're making him meet new groomers and learn a new routine. She was really good with providing feedback on how to train my bichon for her haircuts. She also lets me know if a hairstyle might not work for my dog because of the type of hair that my dog has. When I have a hairstyle I want my dog to try, I show it to Julia and she knows exactly what to do and how to make it work for my dog. I really like the service where the dogs get dressed up and take a studio picture. I like that it is an added bonus to my dogs spa day. Our dog loves going to Julia and enjoys her time there, she is always so eager to go to get her hair cut. The studio is by appointment only and they only take 1 to two dogs.
