We really like the food, but the owner's wife, the waitress, acts like she's angry that we came. She never smiles and seems very rude. I really like that it's open sitting so you can just choose any spot on the restaurant. There was only one waitress when we walked in, she took our order super fast and everything came out in a very timely manner. My wife and I were passing through the area and I decided I wanted sweet and sour pork. The sweet and sour pork there was some of the best I've had. The pork was probably cut from pork tenderloin, given its texture, and the batter was not too thick, which is a plus for me. I also had the hot & sour soup - quite good! The waitress was friendly, and the service was not slow. The Chinese food there is definitely an Americanized version, but it is well-executed. It's the only Vietnamese in town and it's good. There is usually only one server, but it is never busy, so it is not an issue.

Absolutely my favorite place for Asian food. I like their Chinese better and I really enjoy the Vermicelli bowls. However lately they have been EXTREMELY SLOW. I called in an order to-go at 6:03 in the evening. Got there at 6:20 when she said to arrive, I did not get my order until 6:58! Several things are an issue. While I was waiting a couple that showed up after I had been there for 25 minutes got their soup and entrées before I received my order. I had a Vermicelli and a large egg drop soup and large wonton soup to go. Not a huge order. Once I got home I expected to have my soup containers full (get what I paid for). This is what I received! A large container with less than half of the soup missing IN BOTH CONTAINERS!!!! I don't know why this place can never keep wait staff but they need to get it together. I have such mixed feelings regarding this place. The food is delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. But the service is the downside. They only have ONE server and I don't think she wants to be there. Whether they are busy or not her attitude is the same. There used to be other servers but never for long. I will likely continue to go because I love the food but I would probably go more if they were a bit kinder to their guests. read more

I cannot believe how WONDERFUL this place is! The food is so good, and they have great serving sizes. The only issue we run into everytime we eat here is deciding what to eat! The crab rangoon, dumplings, and egg rolls are great appetizers. The sweet & sour soup and wonton soup are tasty and just enough to add to their dinner combos. We haven't tried the pho yet, but we've had ridiculously great dinners from here. LOVE THIS PLACE My only note that does not take away from the rating is the wine selection. We went early and there was only one person in the front. However, the food was excellent and considering the short staff, we were satisfied with the service. Everything tasted off. Fried rice was greasy and had an off flavor. My husband had a beef dish that was gamey in texture and tasted old. My chicken was not only dry, but also tasted off. First off, the staff is incredibly friendly. Which of course, makes the rest of the dining experience pleasant. We started off with appetizers, steamed potstickers and crab rangoons. Both, delicious! The rangoons were crispy with just enough filling. The filling in the potstickers were very flavorful. We ordered a bowl of pho and wow! The broth was perfect. The rib-eye and brisket only added to the flavors of the beef broth. The bowl was enough for 2 people honestly , but regardless, delicious. I'd make the trip from San Antonio to eat here again. First time. There are no great restaurants nearby of course, and I'm sure that's why everyone is giving 5 stars. We don't get many new places to eat living in the country. Always have to drive to Austin. From the outside this place doesn't look appealing or inviting. But that's never a factor in making / serving good food. Inside it's open and clean, kinda 80's and a little weird. Again, doesn't matter. The place smelled like cleaning chemicals though, makes me sick to my stomach, hate when restaurants do that. Just keep it clean, don't use a gallon of cheap floral chemicals to overpower the air! They have a decent sized menu and ran a dinner special. My wife and I each ordered a dinner combo and had a soup and an egg roll. The wonton soup actually had fresh cilantro in it, it was pretty decent. Better than the other Chinese restaurant in Giddings. We got our entrees before the egg rolls. Portion is good, but everything was one note and tasted like iodized salt. My fried rice tasted metallic and dry. Sooooo much iodized salt, I tasted it for ours on my lips. Egg roll was fresh but just ok. Gave us wayyyy too much duck sauce. Just leave a bottle at each table. Servers were nice, kids. Not sure if we will go back though. Again, just better to drive a bit longer for better food. read more
