My husband and I decided to take a Sunday afternoon drive to Elgin, about a 30 minute drive from Bastrop. We searched Yelp for a lunch spot and found Little Beijing. It was located across the road from HEB in a shopping plaza. Ample parking. The interior was fresh and nicely decorated. Upon entry we were greeted and told we could sit wherever we preferred. We both ordered entrees which came with soup and a veggie egg roll, which we upgraded to pork rolls for an up charge. The tasty soup was a nice start. The Szechuan beef had a good amount of beef and veggies and the sauce was delicious. The Sesame Chicken was nice and crispy yet tender and perfectly sauced. We were served fairly quickly, but once our meal arrived we had to flag down our waitress for tea refills and the check. Overall we enjoyed lunch. We would return if we're in the area. read more

All hands down I would not expect Elgin to have a place like this. I am from the East Coast and I'm really particular about my Chinese food and I was really really pleased with them. The eggroll was great, the lo mein the seasoning was great. I love the noodles. I am really picky about how they do noodles, but they were good but I will go back there again, and yes they don't have duck sauce, but they're still great. read more

Absolutely amazing Chinese food and incredible sushi!! The sushi chef is so nice and makes incredible dishes. I tried so many of the nigiri bites and each was delicious and I could tell the fish used was fresh and high quality. I've tried a number of the Chinese food dishes as well and they are all great (my favorite is their orange chicken and beijing beef). Very clean restaurant and they are always playing a movie on the TV which is nice. Sometimes service is slow, probably due to short staff. Will be a regular here! read more

The service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was attractively decorated. For vegetarians/vegans, options are limited although our waitperson really wanted to help us find a good choice. There's chicken stock in the brown sauce, which is in many dishes. The portion sizes were large, but the dishes were not freshly cooked and there were few vegetables in them. Okay, living in downtown Austin I feel very lucky and spoiled.... I was SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!!! Was super clean, inviting and even had live fresh roses on each table. The staff were attentive and quick. Super friendly. Prices were great and the food was better than expecting for a strip shopping joint. The chicken coconut curry was not too spicy and had just the right amount of kick on the back end. The vegetables in it were incredibly fresh as well! The egg drop soup was as egg drop soup SHOULD BE when most fall short. It was a thick hearty broth and lots of whipped egg whites in it. Incredibly tasty. Stopped here on our way back to town from Austin to Huntsville. We were about two hours from home but if I'd known how good it was, I'd have ordered quart sizes of everything. I started with lettuce wraps with chicken. The flavor of the chicken and veggies was savory and perfectly diced so it wrapped well. The lettuce was cool and crisp and the perfect vehicle for the chicken and veggies. Egg drop soup was slurpy great! I added a small stream of soy sauce for the perfect bite of savor. Egg roll was crispy and fresh with a perfectly sweet and sour sauce for dipping. The entree was so filling, and I was so happy to have a few leftovers. My coworkers and I have joked about a road trip just to get more of their food. read more

This is a hidden gem in Elgin! The service was great and the food was amazing. I enjoyed the cashew chicken and my friend ordered sweet and crispy. We were impressed that even when she was full the chicken she was taking home was still crispy even though it had been in the sauce for quite a bit. We will definitely be back. read more

A couple of weeks ago my partner and I went to have lunch here for the first time....just to try it out. The food was pretty good, and the service was not. My partner wanted to pay for the meal with a card, as is our tradition, and I usually leave a generous cash tip. I was told that they had no change for cash. I'm curious? I have never dined inside, we always order for pick up. However, their food is spot on!! Tasty meals, generous portions, and piping hot even after driving 15 minutes to home! We generally get 2 meals out of the serving sizes they dish up. read more

Ehhhhhh I'm not a fan. I gave 3 stars because the portion was cool, and my children enjoyed it. My WASband will eat anything so the chicken was bland with a weird texture, they looked way better than they tasted. Never heard of lemongrass soup; but it sounded interesting...not that great. I love basil so I tried the basil chicken and there was NOOOO BASIL! the egg drop soup didn't taste like any I've ever had before; but after adding siriacha it was cool. I tasted a lil from everyone's plate for this review and NOPE. It wasn't nasty, don't get me wrong. It just wasn't what I was expecting. It just didn't taste like they have Asians in the kitchen cooking. I can't speak on the service because I had the Mister go order and pick it up‍ I might give them another shot since they are super close. Update/Response: I actually found this place on Yelp; and used the directions in the app to get here. I also added a picture of the menu to confirm the location. If I drive to Manor, it's going to be for Tai food. A nice little Chinese American place. Like Chinese-American places all over the world, the hot and sour soup is terrible. Like Chinese-American places all over the world, the rest of the menu is perfectly lovely comfort food. I had pork in garlic sauce. I was comforted. * * * I am guessing but I think this is a Mexican/Central American place that just has an all-Chinese food menu. The front room staff are Mexican/Central American. There is Mexican beer in the fridge. The wine comes in Spanish language cans. On TV, they show Vevo - a station that features soft rock in Espanol and soft edge reggaeton. These days a lot of the Italian restaurants you see are now run by Mexicans or Central Americans. Seafood places are run by Mexicans and Central Americans. Delis are run by Mexicans and Central Americans. Now Chinese restaurants are run by Mexicans and Central Americans. And they are doing a wonderful job. As American Yuppies move on to open restaurants that are nouveau this and nouveau that, The Mexicans are showing up to preserve and maintain the older classical forms of these cuisines that are no longer trendy. Those older classical dishes are wonderful dishes. Chinese food has changed a huge amount as we have moved from "Trader Vic's Polynesian" to "Szechuan" to "Dim Sum" to "Asian Inspired". But those 1950s and 1960s recipes are still good and worth treasuring. (The same applies for Old School American Italian too.) So the Mexican and Central American entrepreneurs leaving the strict limits of "Latin American cooking only" Are ironically becoming the curators and defenders of America's non-Latinx culinary traditions. I for one am very happy that someone is stepping up and doing this. No form of cooking should ever be allowed to die. read more

This place is great every time. The service is attentive and the staff are nice. It's a great quick date night spot, with genuinely some of the best, freshest sushi ever. They make it right there at the sushi bar. I always get the Sakura Blossom and Philadelphia Roll. I also get hot green tea (it comes in a pot with honey on the side). My boyfriend gets Lemon Chicken. It's amazing I've never had any issues with cross-contamination given that I have a severe tuna and shellfish allergy - just means they are clean and careful. I was sooo excited to try this place as my family loves Chinese food. All I'm going to say is after this place I'm done eating Chinese food in Texas. Ok so we ordered $63 worth of food and the only thing edible that didn't taste like bland oil was the sesame chicken, post stickers, egg rolls, hot n sour soup. The Lo mein noodles were so bland and oily it makes me gag thinking about it they were literally sitting in a puddle of oil. The " crispy chicken" was the absolute worst. My husband took 2 bites and threw it in the trash can. We ended up dumping 75% of our food. Never again. Update: I didn't get the location mixed up . I definitely know where I ate at. Instead of taking accountability for your actions you blame it on another location. Pathetic and poor business choice!! When you walk in to the restaurant you will see tables with seats and the furthest back is a bar-like area/checkout. I came here two times to pick up take out. Employees are usually on their phones and customer being greeted is 50/50 :/ Tsk tsk. I called Little Beijing and ordered over the phone. Service was fast to get the food ready. It usually takes 10-20 minutes depending on your order size. 10 minutes for 1 meal and 15-20 minutes for 2 meals to be ready. I ordered the sesame chicken, combination fried rice, and hot and sour soup. The sesame chicken was crispy and lightly battered. The ratio of batter and chicken was perfect. You can see and taste the chicken inside. The sauce was missing something I couldn't put my finger on it ... it was one note. The portion and cost was very reasonable. The combination fried rice was good but missing a little bit more soy sauce. The combination fried rice came with peas, carrots, diced white onions, eggs, pork, chicken, and 4 shrimp. The pork and chicken was moist and wasn't dried out. I was very impressed with the cook of proteins in the fried rice. The fried rice was overall good. Just a little more soy sauce, little more time to stir fry (there was a few lumps of white rice wasn't fried properly) and a couple more shrimp.. this would have been a 5 star dish. The hot and sour soup I do not recommend. Definitely recommend the combination fried rice! read more

Placed an order on Saturday night. The girl that answered the phone was "nice" enough but after placing the order, she said "it will be ready in 20 minutes" then immediately hung up on me. Then when I arrived at the time it would be ready, they then informed me that their system was down and I'd need to pay cash. I brought only a credit card with me. I would have had to go back home - a 10 minute drive one way - find an ATM for cash then go back. Basically an additional 30-40 minutes before I could get my food. It would have been cold at that point and I didn't want to have an argument about making it over again or heating it up for me. I did not return and bought dinner elsewhere. I've never done this before with an order. At the least, because of the way my call was handled and picking up cold food, there would not have been a tip. I may give them another try since previous ordering and customer service was good. I don't know if management has changed or they made a bad hire in the person that took my order. Little Beijing has great Chinese food including soups. I have yet to have had a bad experience, and frankly don't expect it to happen (knocking on wood). I'm really partial to certain places mostly in the Austin area, having them be so close gives me easy access which can't be a bad thing. read more

This is my first time. I ordered the Peppercorn Chicken Wings and Shrimp Lo Mein. The Chicken wings are crispy outside, juicy inside and full of flavor. They are so good. I will definitely order this again. The Lo Mein is good and full of large size shrimps. read more

A small little Chinese restaurant in the corner of Manor town. Very delicious and great service! Hubby and I found another hotspot to go to during our lunch hour. The hot and sour soup is very delicious! I ordered my typical sesame chicken. I don't know why, but I'm addicted to sesame chicken since I was little and I'm still not sick of it. This place makes it very good. Their lunch special comes with either fried rice or steamed rice, an egg roll, and the entree of your choice. You can tell their egg rolls are made fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp. It's the last thing I have to eat because so much steam comes out after you bite into it.
