Philadelphia cheesesteak adventure
James P.

Hoagie Express Levittown PA. The deep fried cheese steak!! This is the reason Hoagie Express got moved to the top of my list of places to go to. This is a juicy cheesesteak. The meat was very flavorful. I'm assuming the deep frying holds the flavor in. It comes with wiz on the side. One of the best things about this Cheesesteak is that it holds the Heat. It took me a while to get to this Cheesesteak and it was still hot to the touch. $8.50, that's right $8.50. They had Hanks soda and the people couldn't have been nicer.

The I Talian Stallion... definitely a two day meal ... well worth it!

This place is the truth...!!! This place has fast service, and makes sure you get your money's worth .... Going to have to explore their catering capabilities...

I've been looking forward to trying this place out for awhile. It's location isn't the normal shopping center or Wal-Mart/Target neighbor friendly type spot. I think this is unfortunate as it may not draw as much traffic as it could with it's different, but pretty damn good creations. I had the "The Creation" and "Deep Fried Cheesesteak" with a side of the mozzarella cheese fries, which I can't remember the last time I've had without some "wiz." The DFC was wrapped with this buttery crust that reminded me of a croissant. I expected a thick egg roll type crust but far from it. I would say the meat wasn't like a fresh cut sirloin chop but still good. The creation was a good blend of meats. One bite you get a taste of bacon and then the next you get pork roll. Customer service was great. Overall the food was borderline great and I look forward to trying something new next time.

The hoagies and steak sandwiches are made in excellent rolls with plenty of meat, cheese and add one. Prices are very reasonable.

Other features include an area to post business cards/messages, a pay it forward board, board games and wifi. The guy working behind the counter was pleasant and knowledgeable about their coffee offering which comes from Homestead Coffee Roasters of Upper Black Eddy. Their drink menu consists of hot/cold coffee, tea, lattes, and espresso based drinks. I tried the drip coffee and would highly recommend it. It is a private label version of Homesteads Darkness - dark & bold with notes of rich, smokey chocolate. I enjoyed the dark roast, rich chocolate and its bold full body. The cortado and espresso I had were ok. I found them to be a little too bitter, but there was a strong roasted earthiness flavor that I liked. On a return trip I'll have to try their Vietnamese coffee. Food wise I've had the sausage egg and cheese on a bagel and a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. They are simple and decent sized with simple folded egg patties and cheddar cheese on average bagels. The sausage had a little spicy kick and the bacon was pretty tasty (NOTE: they do offer pork roll as an option). I was given some hot sauce packets to go. You can also get sandwiches on a croissant. The rest of the menu is simple - toasts, sandwiches, salads, some items for the kids. They do sell their private label coffee beans in retail bags and will grind them for you. I'll stop in again if I'm in the area. The coffee and ambiance is great, the food is ok to good, service great and the idea of a non profit that supports community is commendable. Thanks!!

What made it fun was the maître D...Ira, and the owner too. They bring the personality of the place which adds a special welcoming touch. Our Server, Brayden was timly and right on. The bus guy was very sweet as well. We appreciated the staff. When we first pulled up we were not impressed with the small strip center and worried the place looked empty and drab. Turns out the dining room is to the left of the door and the first room is basically a fast food take out area. Reminded us of Aldo's in Holland...if you have ever been there. The dining room was basically a no frills kinda place but much nicer than the other side. Love a byob and we had more bottles than people...party time! (Cheers). At the end of the meal Salvatore gave us complimentary choclate lemoncello...amazing. Soooo...the food itself. We started with calamari and also the antipasto. Perfect for sharing and all delicious. Calamari was a good one. I ordered the chicken française, which was even better as leftovers the next day since it marinated in the sauce. Hubs enjoyed his veal Marcella. In fact everyone enjoyed everything. Overall, we all left feeling full, satisfied, pleased and very happy. It was a good time! Thumbs definitely up on this place.

The staff really sets this place apart, though. Everyone has been friendly, welcoming, and happy to make recommendations, which we've never regretted following. A friend recently moved to Morrisville and I found myself in the area at lunchtime after a visit. I wanted to try a few things but it looked as though the steak was a big one, so I just had that. The fries that came with it were very good too. As was foretold, the steak was one of the best I've had in years. Let me start with the roll, long seeded torp that had a light toasting. ALL steaks should be so lucky as to have this as a delivery vehicle, most sandwiches too. The beef was tender and nicely seasoned and cheese and onions were evenly distributed throughout. The portion size/cost was very fair, this was 2 meals for me. My only critique would be on the Cooper American cheese used. I would prefer a sharper cheese, Cooper sharp or even provolone. I'll inquire if there are other options. Even if there weren't, I'd still get this anytime. I saw several other lunch items of interest to me, and in the right frame of mind and early enough several breakfast options too. Service was friendly and fast. I'll likely be back next for the shrimp tacos, or just another steak. I'm at a 4.5 with just the one visit, stay tuned....

The crowd varied from some regulars at the bar to a mix of couples, friends and families in the seating area. I took my son twice for late Monday dinners and found only a few tables occupied. Our server on both visits was a kind and welcoming woman who was helpful with the menu. Their menu covers all of the bases - apps, soups, salads, sandwiches and suppers. They have specials posted on a whiteboard with a small tap list (several beers a few of which are craft). I had fresh Fiddlehead IPA on tap both times. For my first time I ordered the Soprano - Prosciutto, Spicy Capicola, Genoa Salami, Sharp Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato and Onion. Finished with Olive Oil, Vinegar and a Dash of Italian Seasoning. $11 They give a choice of seeded or non and of course I went seeded. I would say it's close to a clone of Mazzanti's classic Italian. I really enjoyed it and would order it again. The home made chips that came with it were fresh and crispy. Second go around I had The "Tip" Sandwich - Seasoned Petite Tenderloin Tips, Sautéed Onion & Mushrooms, American Cheese, Garlic Stick Bread. $14 Delicious portions of tender beef tip, a thick layer of American cheese, and a perfect balance of sautéed onion and mushroom mixed in on that crispy seeded roll made my night . Every bite was on point. My son ordered a cheese burger and said it was very good. He could only eat half and was stuffed. I would certainly return if in the area. My kid was happy we got to relax, chat and watched some college basketball. It's not the most spacious or brightly lit place, but those two sandwiches were great! Thanks guys!!
