When most people think of pizza in Penndel, they think of Paul's. Their location has been a staple on the corner of Lincoln Hwy and Bellevue Avenue for decades. You can find parking on either side of the building and it can be tight. There is cheap metered parking (bring a quarter or two) along Bellevue if you want an easier go. The inside has a simple booth area to the left with several tables or a more intimate dining area to the right with BYOB/table service. The menu is a bit bigger for a Pizza shop because they make several staple Italian pasta dishes and include some optional crustaceans additions. My sons always enjoy their spaghetti with meatball meal. In a pinch during a hectic day it's an easy takeout option and yields leftovers. The meatballs are large and rather tasty! I found their Italian hoagie to be just ok. It contained more ham than anything and although it was a decent portion was bland and OK. The Buffalo Chicken pizza was expensive and had a bland dough. The hot sauce was blazing and overpowered the bleu cheese and chicken. The seafood tomato soup contained two mussels, two small clams and lots of small chunks of seafood. It was a bit thin and watery, but mixed well on top of spaghetti if you don't eat it all. I find their regular cheese pizza to be OK with a tad too much grease. There are better options pizza wise to be found. Overall the staff is nice and it is a place to sit down and eat (options in Penndel for this are limited) so I'd give them a 3.5, but since Yelp only gives whole stars I'll give them a 4/good based on the fact the inside is kept clean. read more

Ordered delivery and it was very quick on a weekend (quicker than estimated timeframe) and food was fresh and flavorful! Remarkable. Some Italian places are really just about pizza and sandwiches, with a nod to traditional dishes to attract people who want more than a couple of slices or a cheesesteak. Others, have talent in the kitchen, and can turn a beautiful platter, but don't really do assembly line tomato pie. It is much rarer to find a restaurant that does both very well while housed in a ordinary looking pizza parlor for the past 30 years. So it is with Paul's Penndel Pizza on old Route 1. There was a steady line of pizza takeout orders on one side of the large room separated by half wall to create a cozy dining area on the other. Only two tables were occupied over here and the trifold menu didn't disclose all the hidden treasures possible in the kitchen. Photos on Yelp showed a good looking chicken francaise dish, but was it available? Yes, it was! All I had to do was ask, and our attentive server Robyn made all the arrangements. In addition to my request, we also chose chicken parmigiana and "Shrimp Our Way," a penne platter with lots of shrimp and a delicious pink sauce. Each dinner came with choice of soup or salad, and double bread baskets. The francaise was incredible. Butter lemon sauce and perfectly pan sauteed egged medallions. Tender, light and pleasantly tart. The best rendition I have enjoyed in many years. The Our Way was likewise exceptional, with knock out pink sauce over a dozen or more crustaceans and quality pasta. The parmigiana was a heavy load with spaghetti and copious red gravy. Substantial and tasty but a step down from the other meals. The side salads were large, but mostly iceberg, detracting from the other ingredients and house balsamic. Finally, the Italian loaves were the weakest link, with little crust, texture nor flavor. They really would do themselves a favor by finding a better bakery. The shortcomings were not enough to seriously detract from what was otherwise a fantastic and surprising dinner. Still, had they been eliminated, this could have been one of the best meals of the year. As it was, it was damn close. 4.5 STARS read more

My go-to pizza place, Paul's never disappoints. I can't speak to any other menu items, but their traditional NY style pizza is the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and toppings. The staff is always friendly, and pizza is ready for pick-up in 15 minutes! The white garlic is the family favorite - just be sure to have some mints handy the next day. This is definitely an order out joint. Very basic set-up inside for those who wish to dine-in, but my suggestion is to get it to-go. Penndel Pizza pairs well with a variety of beer, wine, and sports. Fun Fact: I was told by my neighbor that Pizza Paul makes an appearance in the series finale of The Sopranos. I cannot confirm. read more

Pizza shops, especially around this area, are a dime a dozen. Everyone has a go-to and for various reasons. So even if you already have another place as your go-to shop for pizzas, cheesesteaks, wings etc - I can give you one good reason to check this place out that helps it stand out from the rest: their pasta. To be clear, I'm not saying their other food isn't good also. I'm simply saying I've never tried it. Penndel Pizza isn't even nearby me. But for years, I've gone out of my way to order various spaghetti, ravioli etc dishes from them. For me, it's absolutely worth going out of my way. For the amount of food they give you in the platter, as well as the bread and salad/soup, it should also cost way more than it does. I don't know what they put in their sauces but it is addictive. Most recently, I had their lobster ravioli and OH MAN did it knock my socks off. Especially if you live near this place, make it a point to try them if you haven't already! read more

They make pretty good cheesteaks... that is when they don't leave them cooking too long and they get burnt and they still wrap them up and send them home for you to enjoy when you order takeout, and you don't realize til you bite into it. This place is fantastic. It's a little neighborhood pizza place, with two seating areas and a full Italian menu. We had pizza, Brooklyn style pizza, garlic knots and a cheesesteak, and everything was delicious. Most of the pizza is NY style, big, thin slices, but they also have Sicilian, which looked yummy too. Casual and inexpensive. Can't wait to go back. Counter service daytime, waitress service at dinner. One additional fun element - the owner is the guy in the Member's Only jacket in the last scene in the Sopranos. There are some photos of him around the restaurant with the Sopranos cast. Fast and delicious! I ordered a GF pizza, Caesar salads, and regular pie. The gluten free was delicious, it's very difficult to find dough that is not too chewy or dry. The salads were very big. I have been going to Paul's since I was a little kid, and it just seems the quality of the product has gone down over the years. The pizza menu isn't robust, just your standard choices. 2 pizza places with in 5 minutes of this place have a much larger choice of variety in terms of speciality pizzas. You're also hard pressed to find a time when the tables in the front are completely wiped down. Overall, the pizza isn't bad and the food is okay. Since my previous review I have continued to come here on a regular basis (is it bad when they know your order before you say it?!). My favorite has become the chicken ranch pizza, no bacon, very light sauce. It is to die for. Huge strips of breaded chicken, never soggy, big chunks of tomato that make me feel better about having pizza every week, and still the most perfectly cooked crust I've been able to find this side of the Trenton bridge. Their buffalo pizza is awesome, too, but different. The chicken is diced up extremely small, mixed in with chunks of blue cheese and buffalo sauce. It is not for everyone; in fact, I didn't think I'd like it when I first ordered it. But it turned out to be excellent, really flavorful, and not too spicy. read more

I received an Entertainment Book today and thought rather than not using the discounts I found one, ordered and headed to Paul's. The owner told me he never authorized the E Book to print the discount. So don't consider using their buy one get one free coupon there! Not Paul's fault. The pizza was thin and delicious. The place was busy and a lady decided to take the last two places, refusing to move to allow another car in. Her remark, "whatever". The next car parked next to drivers door so she returned into the shop screaming and ranting about needing the car moved. She eventually got in by crawling across from the passenger side. Simply put, this is the best pasta outside of Naples, and I don't mean Florida. I first test my new Italian places with "Puntanesca" sauce, rarely on menus but any cook with the real roots can whip this up as it is the most simple of sauces, and the most difficult to get perfect. There was no hesitation here, only remarking first he had all the ingredients, so no problem. Tonight's was absolutely divine, so perfectly right I fear I may not have to make any more pilgrimages back to Italian shores! This place defines "al dente" on the exquiste pasta itself. You could readily consume it pleasure, no sauce! Moreover, of all the many I've asked where the name derives, other knowing what it translates to (Pardon me: "prostitute".) and the simplicity of the reciepe, Paul is the first ever I've met, here and abroad, to know the exact and obscure explanation. Be sure to ask him when you go. My 11 year old daughter, her BFF and dad were all amply pleased, along with the generous portions. Several crisply uniformed police officers came in for dinner, and the majority of the warm, informal place was filled with a flow of obvious regulars. This is a family business - the Colandreas are Italian Americans and hail from Monte di Procida near Naples. The atmosphere in their restaurant is very friendly, and they really care about the quality of the food they make and serve. No place in Penndel/Langhorne offers outstandingly good pizza. However, if I lived in Penndel, or was in the area, I would stop in for food. So while not outstanding, definitely not terrible.
