Great staff, but getting prescriptions refilled is a challenge. Last year my medications kept disappearing from their website, so I was unable to request refills. Recently, it stopped letting me login at all. I've had to go into the pharmacy in person to request refills. While there, I have attempted to address these issues, most recently just a few weeks ago. I was told the problem was fixed and that I should now be able to login. I tried. I can't. I will go in person tomorrow and try once again. read more

This is such a nice pharmacy! I discovered it upon looking for a COVID booster shot upon having problems setting up an appointment with Safeway. A friend told me they take walk-ins, and the process was very smooth. In the meantime, I had a chance to look around this pharmacy, which is in a window-filled, light and pleasant building. I recently developed a very serious infection in one of my legs and was hospitalized for 5 days. When discharged, I need several things to continue my treatment at home, including a variety of dressing materials (pads, gauze, etc.) as well as equipment like a cane, walker and shower seat. We were able to find every thing we needed at Hoagland's, and when we found I did not need or use the walker, they allowed us to return it for a full refund with no problems. After several weeks of additional outpatient treatment, I was instructed to wear support/compression socks to promote ongoing healing, with the expectation this would be at least an extended (and possibly permanent) need. I had tried such socks several times in the past, and was advised I would probably find the best prices online. However, I also learned that there are not only a variety of sizes, but also of levels of compression. I had been told by a friend that Hoaglund's had a large variety of such socks, so went there directly from my appointment at the Wound Center. I have not seen such a large array of support/compression socks at any other pharmacy or store! Even more importantly, a staff member at Hoagland's - Donna - affirmed the measurements from the Wound center (ankle & calf circumference) and explained the various levels of compression, taking considerable time to help me be sure I was getting exactly what I need. I was pleased to discover that the socks that were the best fit for me come in 3 colors - black, almond and beige! I purchased one of each and left knowing I had exactly what I needed - socks that offer the therapeutic benefits I require and are also comfortable enough that I will actually wear them! HORRIBLE customer service in the compounding pharmacy. I just moved to Bellingham from out of state and have been trying to get my prescription moved from the other pharmacy and filled at Hoagland. Bad idea. I have called multiple times and left several messages. Now supposedly my prescription has been moved from my old pharmacy but Hoagland can't find it in their system. I should have paid attention to all of the negative reviews but thought Hoagland was the only compounding pharmacy in Bellingham. I will find alternate methods to get my prescription filled. FYI - Makers Compounding Pharmacy in Mt Vernon mails prescriptions within the state of Washington and they have a five star rating. read more

Pharmacy staff at Hoagland were so helpful, supportive, and informative - not only about my prescription but also in helping me navigate the endlessly complicated health insurance system. And as icing on the cake, I was able to get my out-of-stock prescription within 24 hours whereas Walgreens would have me waiting a week or more, only to repetitively attempt to fill at a location I haven't lived at in years. I would discourage patronizing this establishment. To buy a pice of medical equipment they said they need my social security number, which is not shared commonly anymore. It is not safe to share Social Security numbers under any circumstances anymore. This is private information exposes consumers to an invasion of privacy, theft of their personal information, and ruination of their credit standing. The failure of large organizations like Experian to protect information and be hacked, giving up information on 24 million accounts. Their collection agency should not require a social security number to sue me for collections for a $125 co-pay on a piece of medical equipment. They have outdated and insecure business policies which they should consider changing to protect their customer's information. I won't do business with them. I'm sure there are better alternatives with more up-to-date business practices. read more

Very dissatisfied. Having surgery and filled my prescription (3items) here. First visit: we don't have it. After checking they did. Only filled one item. Went to get the other two parts and same thing. Told them this mistake would have been a show stopper. They blamed my Dr. I told them they could check and all I got was a dumb stare. I have always received professional and courteous service, but don't shop retail as they are over-priced even on basic items. One exception, I always buy three of the little chocolates at the front counter along with my prescription. Seattle Chocolates in tons of flavors and 3/$1.00 I come here for a specialty compound. Sonia, the manger is the grand wizard of compounding! She helped my Dr. and me figure out a challenging liquid formula. I have a new appreciation for the skills needed in compounding and converting the math and other factors involved in this scientific process. They also have a choice of flavors, cherry is my favorite. Prescriptions are prepared quickly. They are closed on Sundays. My one complaint is they do have a generous loyalty rewards program, but you have to remind them each visit to run your number, and of course, I forget half the time. I missed out on many points. They need to ask for reward cards or phone number like every other business does. read more

So, these brilliant idiots are outright lying to the public by refusing to sell CPAP accessories (like Wisp tubing) "without a prescription". This is absurd because these accessories are freely available online (and at other local locations) without a prescription, and there is no law requiring a prescription for these items (which is why they sell online!). This means they are enforcing made-up rules that don't really exist solely to support some sort of monopoly. This pharmacy told my aged parent that they had to buy an entire 12-pack of an expensive medication (several thousands list price) as "Hoaglands was not legally able" to break the blister pack up. This statement is not at all factual. They also told this person's PCP that the reason the meds were not issued was due to inability to pay for 3 pills of that 12-pack. Again, not factual. If you read other reviews, it seems usual for this place to tell the patient one thing, and the PCP, a different thing. This is Not Ideal. I speculate that they were concerned they may have to sit on the other 9 blister-packed pills for some time and were trying to put the entire pack's cost on this patient. Typical chain store has the med available next-day and will happily sell 3 pills form the same blister pack. And that is the route we are going. I would use this pharmacy with caution. read more

I get all my vaccines here. Great locally-owned business. They have preservative-free flu vaccines, which is what I prefer. Staff are always friendly. Vaccinations are quick and easy. There's also a nice selection of drug store type items for sale (similar to Walgreens and Rite Aid), along with some other things like candy. What a cool pharmacy! I had a compound prescription that a regular pharmacy couldn't fill. Upon approaching the "drop off" part of the counter you will see an authentic old book where old prescriptions were kept on display. They also had old authentic compound making tools. While waiting for my script to be made we browsed the shelves filled with natural remedies for certain types of ailments, even some old tried and true ones. Kudos to a great pharmacist on how explain how the medicine was to be used. read more

Shes got a wealth of knowledge, and you can tell truly cares about giving you the best customer service possible. I cant attest to the rest of the pharmacy as I have not used there services, but if the rest of the services and staff are even half as great as Ruth, they have a customer for life! Poor customer service Just tried to return a defective item and was told I needed the original packaging. I had the original valid receipt but did not keep the flimsy packaging. Perhaps this is the policy, but there is no written policy to back it up and I was told "It's just common sense" by the manager. I thought that was rude. So, nope, I hate to recommend one of the "big box" or supermarket pharmacies, but you will be treated better there if something goes wrong with a purchase. read more

A terrible experience with the compounding department. I called to have 4 prescriptions transferred from Heartland vet. They are really good. The problem is that my dog does not tolerate oil based compounds. I called Hoagland and asked if they could compound in a water soluable. I was told that they could. I made it very clear that I had to have water soluable. However, when the pharmacist filled with oil base. I did not catch it until I have my dog the meds and could feel the oil. When I called they basically said I was at fault because it was not on the faced order they ignored my request. They then refused to give me a refund. They acted as though I was at fault and the can't use the meds for anyone else. I told that I can't use them! They are going to redo 2 of them. They are going to compound a pill form for one. They should have picked up the phone to call me. They did not. I am now paying for a two week supply of meds when I paid for a month long dupply. The worst part is I have my dog the medication before I knew what they had done. Not so much as an apology.I still had to pay the 142.27. When I read the dollar amont, I was told the amount was wrong. I guess their ringing up the wrong amount is my fault too. I was a manager for decades and would never have treated my clients in the way I was treated. They did not even inquire about my dog peanut, if she was ok. I also found them to be really expensive compare to other co.pounding services. All I can say is buyer beware! You are not their priority! I'm high risk for severe illness for COVID-19, so chose to be proactive about my health by following preventative and early treatment protocols described on the Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance's website. A Hoagland pharmacist told me in 2020 they couldn't get ivermectin from their supplier, so in the summer of 2021, I had my telehealth provider send my prescriptions for ivermectin to Walgreens on Sunset Drive to fill, one for preventative use as needed - (one of my friends was undergoing cancer treatment) - the other to have on hand if I tested positive for COVID-19. Thankfully, they filled both prescriptions. No problem. I had COVID-19 in June 2022 - (infected by a vaccinated 13 year old with a mild cough who later developed additional symptoms and tested positive) - and needed to restock my stash. Walgreens on Sunset informed me they will not fill prescriptions for ivermectin IF it's for COVID-19. So I called Hoagland's in Bellingham, a local business that I supported during my husband's cancer treatment by buying a walker and all other medical equipment there. I now regret that decision. They will not fill ivermectin prescriptions for COVID-19 due to "no studies" and "not approved for that use by FDA", and went further to tell me it was unlikely any pharmacy in Whatcom County will. I don't know if that's true. I hope not. I next called a compounding pharmacy in Mt. Vernon and was told they WILL fill ivermectin prescriptions for COVID-19 and ship to customers anywhere in Washington state. I support local businesses. Just not this one from this point forward. The owners of Hoagland Pharmacy are on the wrong side of history. Never forget. I would not recommend the respiratory service department at Hoagland pharmacy to anyone. I have never encountered such poor customer service in my lifetime. They attempted to deliver a replacement part for my CPAP machine to my work address as opposed to my home address. I made three follow-up calls to try and straighten this matter out, NONE of which were returned. After eight nights of little to no sleep my doctors office got involved. I finally received a phone call from Hoagland. The woman who called me very rudely interrupted me while I was talking and curtly informed me that they would mail me a new cord. My husband was getting out of the hospital and they went over his medications and made sure that everything was in order. They also helped us find the wound items that we needed.
