I love this store and visit it almost weekly. it's my feel good place to visit. The atmosphere is wonderful BUT I have one problem and that's the management. When you are a manager you should know when your busy times are and you should staff accordingly so that your checkout lines move quickly and smoothly. You should have at least 2 managers or shift leaders up front to help with any issues at the registers when you have at least 6 open. You also need to have enough cashiers to move the lines along. when you have only 2 registers open and you have 3-4 people in each line you need to call for another cashier. Your cashiers should be polite and say hello or how's your day going but they should not start an actual conversation that slows down the lines. I have seen many frustrated customers waiting in long lines, I am not the only one. It is important to keep those lines moving quickly so you keep your customers happy. I understand that without scan bars on the products that it is not as quick as a store with them but I believe that the cashiers should be taught to input a bit faster and cutting the conversations down while doing this would help so they can concentrate on the items being imputed. They can be polite (which they all are) but if they would just cut those conversations down it would really help. So to sum it all up I believe either the manager needs retraining or he/she needs to have regular meetings to instruct the cashiers how to help the lines move faster. Staffing during busy times is also very essential, enough at the registers and enough on the floor. read more

Definitely recommend Hobby Lobby during the holiday season! Mid December and most Christmas stuff is already 50% off and so many giftable items and also stuff to make gifts with! Love this place. Prices are very reasonable and the selection is terrific! We grabbed a lot of stocking stuffers here! The lines were kinda long but they did add cashiers around the time we checked out so not bad at all! read more

The store itself comes with a great variety of selection regarding arts and crafts, I am writing a review as a former employee. Upon employment, manager will not inform you that the store is Christian based (they wont ask you if that's okay, or if that would affect your own religion, values, and morals) and does not participate in Halloween/any other religious holidays (you may have to let customers know without knowing that yourself), they also will not be telling you how/when/where you'll be gettin paid (I have been working for two weeks, and I had to be the one that asked and they still weren't sure how or when Ill get paid.), a good deal of training managers will be patient and guide you, but there will be accepted behaviors where some training managers(Izzy) would feel obligated to degrade/belittle they're employee for the lack of knowledge while training. Please keep in mind, that the new hiring manager Dan will not help regarding these issues. I have spoken to Dan about these issues, and completely dismissed my problems with the work environment and continued to place me at a position I have told him I am having issues in, he is also the manager that hired me without knowledge of how the pay works. If you are applying for the position here in Bellingham, make sure to asks these questions and be stern on the positions you want to work in (keep in mind that if you are a cashier, they will put you in the rush line in your first day, first week, second week). HR will also ask you to leave a message about your complaints instead of speaking to a human being. read more

I love love hobby lobby for multiple reasons; they're Christian based, have great selection, friendly and knowledgeable employees, and I could go on. I hardly ever walk in and walk back out with nothing. Employees are very friendly and helpful as well. Some previous reviews mentioned customers not wearing masks and I haven't found that to be true. I'm in there ALL the time and have yet to see a customer w//o a mask on their face. read more

I absolutely love Hobby Lobby as a whole. It is my dream come true as I love art and all things art and they have amazing deals. Unfortunately, I had an extremely poor experience here. A few weeks ago I went in to exchange four Copic markers I had bought without realizing I already owned these colors or colors too similar to justify buying them. I went in and asked if I was able to do this and the woman working said she had to verify with a manager because at "the last craft store " she worked at they "couldn't exchange markers" So. I waited about 15 minutes for a manager to be available to answer the question as the manager was busy being ripped apart by a large blonde woman demanding free stuff because she had to walk across the store to show a sign with a discount on it to a cashier. I felt really bad for all the workers having to endure this nightmare of a woman so I wasnt upset about the wait. The manager finally confirmed that it was okay to do so I went back and selected the four colors I wanted instead, leaving my original 4 up front with the cashier. In case you're not familiar with Hobby Lobby, they have all their Copic markers locked up and you need an employee to open the case for you and from there the employee brings the markers up front for you to purchase. The manger just so happened to be the one to open the case for me and said she would ring me up on 10, I explained that the last at register 1 had my receipt and markers as I was just exchanging. She walked back over to the other cashier and came back and informed me that my receipt only had two markers on it so I could only exchange two. I know for certain I bought these four markers the last time, and I'm pretty sure the younger cashier charged me for one of them as something other than a Copic marker because I had made a comment on how expensive they were and she then typed something in the computer/register and the price went down. Knowing there was no way for me to prove that I decided that exchanging two is good enough for me and I picked two out of the four. At first she tried to charge me, and I reminded her I was exchanging. She looked like something clicked in her mind and said "oh. In that case then you're good then!" And I grabbed my two new markers and began to leave the store. But I suddenly found myself with two markers when I had come in with four... I walked back up to the register and saw all the markers laying next to the woman and I said "actually these two are mine as well" and grabbed two of the original ones I had brought in. She tried to argue with me saying "remember, you could only exchange two of them?" I simply reminded her I had come in with four markers and was now only leaving with two, which was not correct. I should be leaving with same amount I came with. No more, no less. She told me she remembered now and that I was good to go and I left. Once I got to my car I looked at my receipt and saw I actually had 3 markers on my receipt and a random art supply for five dollars, which I assume was my fourth marker that the young girl made cheaper for me. I really didnt want to deal with any of it anymore so I just took my four markers and moved on with my life. Well, I went in again for the first time since then about a week ago and was approached by a short chubby man who identified himself as the manager and accused me of stealing from the store last time I was there. I was completely dumbfounded and honestly extremely embarrassed. I've never had anyone come blatantly call me a thief and kick me out of a store, ever, in my life. I don't steal, I can pay for things if I want them, and I dont think anything is worth the jail time to steal. He told me to leave the store and I tried to explain to him I had my receipt still and that I would be happy to show him to which he replied "i dont care about your receipt. Just leave" I went to my car and cried and looked down at my floor and directly by my foot was the exact receipt for that purchase. I was too embarrassed to go back in at this point as I had just been kicked out and FOLLOWED out like some kind of criminal when I'd done nothing wrong so I decided to try to call and reason with this man. I called and said I had my receipt in my hand and also pointed out that I couldn't steal a Copic marker if I wanted to because they're locked up and then walked to the register. He then told me he has me on camera "pretending to stand in line" whatever that means and "pretending to exchange markers and stealing them" I should mention before leaving the store I asked him to ask the manager who was working because I thought surely she would confirm that I didn't steal anything and he claims he did and that she said I was stealing. read more

I had an amazing time browsing this store. There are lots of interesting home décor items and a huge variety of home utensils with an artistic slant. There are "hobby" supplies intermingled among a bonanza of entertaining items to dazzle your imagination. I was so overwhelmed that I left without making a purchase. I found their fabric selection to be interesting but limited. I also found their inventory of sewing accessories and notions to be very limited. Hobby Lobby is another chain store offering acres of stuff you didn't know you couldn't live without. That said, my disappointment is not being offered a "teacher discount". They only give school discounts-meaning you must bring in a check from school or use a school credit card. That does not help whatsoever. So, I will continue using my teacher discount at Jo-Ann's and Michael's. read more

I have never been to a Hobby Lobby store before and when I found out that they were opening one in Bellingham I couldn't wait to go. I was lucky enough to be able to go to the grand opening. The had tons of great deals lots of items were 50% off. I heard one of the cashiers say they have lots of items on sale all the time, so it's not just during the grand opening. This store is huge, I was overwhelmed in a good way. They have so many home decor and furniture items, and beautiful themed displays. Tons of craft items for any kind of project you could want to make. Every staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. I'm so in love with this store. Can't wait to go back again! read more

Very impressed with this beautiful store. HOWEVER, disappointed they do not have scooters to get around. Wheelchairs are available but they are designed for very large people. This time I had someone to push me...I like to shop on my own. No scooters tells me people with disabilities are not wanted. So I will continue to shop at Michaels and Joanne's. Ednamae read more

After reading the last review about Hobby Lobby not liking gays, anti women etc. I have heard all this many times but not from anyone who actually knows them. I worked for Hobby Lobby at the corporate office for 21 years. I ran the store design department. My own daughter worked at corporate for 15 years in the art department designing products to sell. Neither of us work for Hobby Lobby now and we have no current connections to them. They treated us well and paid well. There is no way I would ever have my daughter work for a family that were anti women rights, etc. I know the Owners and they are fine people and spends millions of dollars a year for charity. They have over 3000 people working at corporate of any race, lifestyle etc. I hired people in my department and I hired anyone I wanted, minorities and half of my department was women and they still work there. It was fairly rare for someone to leave the corporate office. The media has built this up like the owners are evil. I never heard my daughter complain about any of this they claim. Hobby Lobby did not want to buy one specific item in Obama's health care plan and they wanted a third party to provide access to its employees but did provide other alternatives. My daughter was on birth control the entire time she worked for them. They act like the company did not provide any options at all to women. Again I do not even work for them anymore. Why would I want my daughter to work there if they were bad to women etc. Hobby Lobby is growing so fast it burns you out after a while and we left. Super fast pace at corporate which I loved but it eventually burns you out. No ill feelings against Hobby Lobby. Also they pay better than most retailers, women and men. Remember women are Hobby Lobby's biggest customers . It would make no sense to be against them. read more
