They discriminate. They do not carry any merchandise for Jewish holidays, either in store or on their website. A search of their website indicates nothing for Muslim or Hindu holidays either. I finally made it here. FYI closed on Sunday's. This store is huge and has so many options of everything! When you browse through you will find yourself being very creative . Bet you didn't know you had a creative side. I bought some yarn , knitting and crochet needles. Hobby lobby has some you tube videos to help you get started on your creations. This is also a good place to get some last minute Xmas gifts, bday gifts, fabrics to make your next runway outfit, or decor for your house. Or just treat yourself to a new hobby. What is up with them and Chick-Fil-A not open on Sundays??? Do you want my money or what? I may not agree with their politics or religious beliefs, but a business is a business. If they offer quality products that I want at good prices, you can have my business. Many mom & pop stores have been put out of business by these big box chains. Don't expect great service, but do expect that stock items are uniform across the chain because they buy in large quantities from manufacturers to command low prices. Remember that those low prices are for them, not to you. So if you do buy from Hobby Lobby, always use the 40% off coupon from their website. You can only use it on one item per visit and it's off the full retail price and some brands are exempt. I wait for the annual clearance sale, where you can get up to 75% off original prices. Just look for the orange price tags. I have to drive 34 miles to get here, so you better make it worth my while. read more

I have been shopping @ Hobby Lobby for a while now but the last few times I have been there, every staff member whom I came across was extremely nasty & unapproachable to say the least. I waited on line to purchase some things(that btw, some of the items I needed were damaged already) for at least 20 minutes. The cashier seemed friendly to everyone before me but when my turn came he was anything but. The next day I returned back to the store to return the things I bought the previous day bc I ended up using something else for what i was making. Upon arriving, the line to purchase something was down the store isle (only 2 cashiers again) so, I decided to shop first. I finally get to the register with the receipt for the items from my previous purchase & immediately the cashier calls her manager over. She points out the damaged items & I stepped in and said that this is how i purchased them yesterday. The manager then gave me a nasty look & said that usually the cashier would have made a note saying it was damaged. Mind you, this "manager " was one of the cashiers working the previous day. I simply stated that the cashier said nothing & that is how he sold it to me. He did finally let me return the items but a terrible experience to say the least. I NEVER make reviews about places, but this was just unacceptable & I will not be returning to hobby lobby ever again. They claim to be a store of "faith" yet it doesn't seem like they make their staff follow in the same footsteps. Practice what you preach people!!! read more

I love this hobby lobby! I'm there all the time for the yarn (best yarn, awesome prices) can't go wrong. Someone wrote something about how they don't take Apple Pay? But who cares not all places take that. They are old fashioned with old registers. Can't be upset with a store for that! The service is good, I've never had any issues with anyone who works there. Wifey is into making necklaces and all kinds of jewelry, so we wanted to check this place out. They had a very good selection of beads and stuff to make jewelry and the prices were from cheap to reasonable. But they have sales every week so you have to look out for them. I was more interested in the model planes tanks and cars and trucks which they had a lot of large variety of those. First time going to hobby lobby after hearing so much praise about the store in other locations. From first appearance, the store is huge. Definitely bigger than other craft stores I've been to. They do have lots of items that other crafts stores don't have. I would describe Hobby Lobby as a cross of a craft store and a Home Goods. In addition to crafts, they have some decorative items. Like Micheals, they do have percentage discounts on rotating items. I was seeking out the bridal section since I'm planning a wedding for next year. Although they have a couple small aisles, I didn't find anything to my liking. I don't know if I would go out of my way to drive to Hobby Lobby, but I might stop by again if I happen to be in the area to take a peak. read more

Had to update because of two recent incidents with very misleading sale signs. Just the other day the flyer posted in the main entrance said YARN AND FIBER ARTS 30% off So I got my yarn and when paying was told that yarn wasn't on sale. The testy manager (who used Gods name in vain earlier) told me that the 30% was referring to the department, yarn itself was not on sale--just certain items in the YARN AND FIBER ARTS Department-Are you kidding??? How underhanded and slimy. What a misleading, dishonest sign. Used to be my fave craft store but I'm going back to Michael's, at least their signs are honest and not sneaky rip-off techniques for fleecing customers . read more

Great Mix of traditional Home Goods & Christian themed household items..I love that I can find items from a Bible to furniture and decor that are scripture based & relevant to Christian life . Such a REFRESHING Change from other stores. Love this store for its " Home Goods" style decor and HUGE lair of crafting and art supplies- and better pricing than Michaels, and offer items like Fabric, and a wider range of knitting supplies, if that is your thing. My new favorite store! I've never stepped foot in a hobby lobby until today. I've been missing out! I spent about 2 1/2 hours, walking the aisles more than once, making sure I didn't miss anything & I'm sure I probably did. There is just so much here! It's like a Michaels and Home goods combined! Pure bliss! Floral department here, INSANE and perfectly organized. They have an awesome furniture selection with great prices. Worst experience I've ever had in a store. The manager told us to leave because my friend was in crutches and he said he hated disabled people. Then he proceeded to justify his rudeness with the fact that it was black history month and he was black while we were white. We accepted our fate and my friend crutched out of the store in the rain. Hobby Lobby is finally in NY!! I had my first Hobby Lobby experience three years ago in Tennessee while visiting my old college roommate. There's a whole section dedicated to door knobs and drawer pulls. I came home with 6. But that was 3 years ago and my priorities have changed. Today I was shopping for Christmas ornaments in July. Just kidding but I did browse that section. They will have a seasonal section up front that will rotate and a forever Christmas section. Since I wasn't shopping for anything in particular I was able to just mindlessly wander up and down the aisles. They seem to have a lot of variety (so much fabric! Sequins! Gel pens! Pom poms!) so you can craft until your fingers bleed. It seems pretty consistent with other Hobby Lobby stores I've visited before in the past. I did purchase a few random items: a set of woven nesting baskets to hide more junk in (40% off though), a bronzey looking plaque with 3 hooks probably for coats but will be used for dog leashes, and 4 Tombow dual brush pens. Get me out of this store! Hobby Lobby has said before that they don't use the barcode system so sorry for everybody who didn't know that prior to stopping in the store but they use manual pricing for product ordering & accounting purposes. For what reason who knows? They are also closed on Sundays because David Green the CEO is an evangelical Christian in case you couldn't already tell by the items in the store. read more

Oh my gosh! I was shopping for picture frames and left with kitchen items..tumblers, tongs and little baskets to serve food. I didn't even need these things but they were there and perfectly priced..lol! I did get the picture frames as well. I have to say that this store is very stocked. Hobby Lobby has come to NY. To be honest it's kind of a weird craft store. Mish mash of craft items of fair to inferior quality made in China. From the moment you walk in you can feel a deeply religious Christian theme which includes not only the craft supplies but also the books and background music. So today was my first experience at Hobby Lobby. It was not very close to my house but I'm glad I went. They had 50% off all Christmas items and i found everything i needed. The other houseware things were also very nice lots of signs and lots of ideas to do. I would go back when they are on sale. I hear they have different sales all the time. As per reading the reviews on yelp i have to say i did not notice that the employees were rude at all. I was particularly taking notice to that and also there definitely was Chanukah things in the store. I purchase a menorah and candles for it along with wrapping paper and candy. Here's the Scoop: I'm in craft heaven!!!! Finally a Hobby Lobby in New York. This store by far is going to give AC Moore & Michaels a run for the money. The new Sheriff in town ! So many great items at reasonable prices. I arrived at 1:30pm and I'm just getting on line to check out. I haven't even seen a quarter of the store. If you're into jewelry making run don't walk here. The entire store is 40-50 percent off. As soon as you enter you're greeted and given a circular. The entire staff is helpful and accommodating. Lots of managers are on hand too. People are bustling about with excitement and awe. Sounds of items crashing in the aisles as background music ii's overtaking the actual music. Shelves are emptying fast. Hope they have overstock! Everyone's cart filled to the brim. Cashiers ringing items as fast as they can. So much to see I must come back another day. I'm glad I came today for certain items I needed though because they only had 1 or 2. This staff earned their pay because they are hopping throughout the store trying to please customers. I was like a kid in a candy store. This candy store I will be visiting often. There's home decor, garden and crafts. Woohoo!! I'm excited. Come on down to Commack to check it out!! Two stars for customer services! Walking into Hobby Lobby you can feel the miserable vibes off of the workers. There is plenty of people for help however... Passing them they roll there eyes as you walk by, huge attitudes, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SEVERS! Not one smile, not one "can I help you find anything"..... Along with that when you do need help there very quick to push you away, agin grown workers with attitudes of 13year old.... Retail at times isn't fun to work, been there done that however I have walked into the store multiple times, different times of day..... Still with the same RUDE, MISERABLE attitudes throughout the WHOLE store!! Extremely disappointing!! The actual Hobby lobby chain is very unique, and can find some very cute things within the store. There are a few stores/shops I truly love in my area - Hobby Lobby is one of them! I remember seeing the store months ago and being extremely curious to visit. It wasn't until I moved from Brooklyn to Long Island and was in dire need of purchasing some new apartment decor that I gave it a shot. One of my favorite things about Hobby Lobby is the extensive variety of beautiful wall frames and the adorable decorative pieces they carry. There is a large range of frame colors to choose from and most of them are themed. Last time I visited the store I purchased a few gorgeous pieces to hang in my my apartment that continuously get complimented by friends and family. I truly believe there is something in this store for everyone, best part about it is that each item is truly unique and sold at a very reasonable price. OMG the absolute worst customer experience in my whole life, I NEVER want to go back there again, hey those of you who know me, know I don't like to give negative reviews. If you go there and don't need help from an employee you may feel differently than me. I was looking for something specific, which I had seen online and was supposedly in stock at this store. The store is huge, but Michael's although smaller has the same things, and their prices and customer service far superior to this store. Ok I was desperately looking for an employee after wandering and hopelessly looking for my item after about a half an hour. Finally I see an employee a rare sighting in this store. Another customer is asking her for help, I overhear their conversation, oh no it's not going well, the other customer turns away from the employee and says "thanks for......nothing. She was right, now I need to ask for help, she points her arm, did you look here???? Did you look there???? Did you walk down the center of the store???? Did you walk around the perimeter of the store???? WTF she didn't even ask what I was looking for... I head for the door, I make another attempt at the cashier line. I ask the employee where I might find what I was looking for, she seemed not to be functioning normally either, a customer on line hears me and suggests where I might find it, the employee seems to think somehow without speaking to me, she actually told me, even though me & this other customer were speaking. I go look, it was close to what I wanted but not exactly, but hey a customer tried to help me. Again I head for the door. There's another woman by the cashier line, I try yet again to be told the items online aren't in the store, did you hear me, it said it was in stock at THIS store, like a robot she kept repeating herself, online items aren't in the store. I left, on my way out I see a customer who I noticed when I first entered , saying "how did it cost me over $100 for flowers(fake) when they're supposed to be 50% off??? NEVER EVER again, beyond horrible, the worst of the worst of the worst. I HATE this store and I don't hate anything. read more

Michaels who??!!!! .....I LOVEEEE this store!!!!!! I am so happy they are bringing Hobby Lobby's to New York! This store is similar to Michael's but WAY better!! They have pretty much anything you need for any crafty hobbies, few furniture items, decorating + wayyy more! If you have a theme of decor in your home, you will find things to go with it here! Everything from beach house to man caves, western to hunting! I'm obsessed with this store, it is so worth the trip even if you dont live in the area! I come all the way from Astoria to go here a few times per week. Posting this for my friend: Good morning- hate to start the day with such a negative true story but I want to spread the word to as many people as I can. Yesterday I took my 7 year old granddaughter to buy pipe cleaners at the new craft store in Commack Hobby Lobby. We walked through the stores and saw every decoration you can imagine for Halloween,Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Dara asked where the Hanukkah decorations were and I said I would ask the manager as we were leaving. To make this shorter he told me they had none and there will never be any! He politely told me the owners of the chain are Catholic and don't acknowledge any other religions or holidays. I bought what I went into get and told him I am sure he will not care and neither will his boss but I personally will never set foot in that store again. I did not want to believe that this does exist but here it was smack in my face. I did explain to Dara why I will never go back and when we need to decorate for Hanukkah, there are many stores that will be happy to have us. Decided to kill some tine browsing Hobby Lobby. Although open about a year now never really had a chance to shop there. The crafts section had a large variety & the prices for their silk flowers seemed reasonable. What I liked was the large selection of patriotic seasonal decor for indoors & outdoors. I really couldn't identify with the different wall hangings & Knick baca for the Home as they were either biblical sayings or farmhouse related. Living on Long Island in a suburban setting hardly sets the tone for farmhouse decor. Still it was well worth my time & i will probably purchase seasonal items in the future read more

The store is huge with a wide selection no doubt. However, I believe the reason the lines have been consistently long is because if anyone notices they are individually typing in the price on each item. There is no UPC bar codes to scan which is what I was noticing when the woman was ringing me up. If they could maybe update their products to have UPC Barcodes on the side then it would be easier and more efficient for the cashiers and make checkout a lot quicker for customers. Other than that the selection from what I saw was good, prices were a little cheaper than Michaels depending on the product. read more

I needed fabric for my son to make a pillow in school. So I went to the fabrics...I saw the worker standing there by her desk and asked her if I could get some fabric pointing to the one I needed. She replied- you can pick it up...- well I don't work there so, I didn't know you can pick it up yourself. Than I asked her to give me enough to make a standard pillow, she smiles and shakes her head no and says what is standard like 30 years ago? People make all kinds of size pillows...I replied standard for a queen bed! She still said no, so I just pointed give me this much...wow so unhelpful and making people feel stupid and uncomfortable..not everyone works in a fabric store or worked with a sawing machine read more
