For various reasons, I didn't shop at Hobby Lobby for the longest time, but the disappearance of JoAnne's Fabrics leaves no other local place to shop for fabric. Since going in for sewing projects, I've slowly fallen in love with all of the other wonders inside this amazing store. I swear they have everything! The other day I needed to repair a piece of jewelry and found a whole department in HL with anything needed to make rings, necklaces, bracelets and more, all at great prices. They have gorgeous wall art and fun trinkets for the backyard and garden. Need art supplies? They've got you covered. Honestly, they have things that I didn't even know existed. I could walk around for hours marveling at the vastness of this store and all of its hidden secrets. The biggest learning curve was figuring out the alternating discounts throughout the store. This is Michael's on steroids. I was impressed with the amount of crafting supplies here especially the acrylic paints. I love the Folk Art and FX brands and was happy to see a large selection of these paints. They also sell EVA foam. The Michael's near my place has stopped selling that unfortunately. They also weirdly had a selection of anime merchandise like posters, figurines, mugs, plushes, etc which I was absolutely not expecting. I saw some My Hero Academia, One Piece, Haikyuu... I was also surprised to see they had a lot of fabric by the yard. I was specifically looking for stretch cotton twill like fabrics but they didn't have those. They did have a lot of broadcloths, cottons, and Jersey knits though. I will be back if there are certain items I can't find at my local Michael's or Joann's. read more

2 weeks until Thanksgiving and all Fall items are 75% off?? Uh, yes please! My sis, cousin, & I all chose a decorated pumpkin to take home for less than $2 each. This place is huge, as in, could've been Toys R Us back in the day huge. I did not understand why a mid-age dad was pushing around a full cart one hour until closing until I myself gave in and started piling all the ocean/beach theme decor I could find to finally redecorate my mess of a room. I got so distracted by all the possibilities I ended up delaying my restroom visit by 30 minutes LOL. There's just so much cool stuff! To the right is all the seasonal stuff and a lot of the Christmas stuff was in large plastic bins on the top shelves, waiting to replace Fall items. Not saying there wasn't Christmas stuff, because there totally was, and on sale too! Maybe around 50% off? Lots of plastic Christmas trees on display. All that glitters is getting ready for the holidays. It's like Michael's but better deals, until you get to the yarn section then it gets pricey for crocheting or knitting those large super soft threads for baby blankets. The middle section has lots of themes for decorating kids rooms, living rooms, your own bedroom, etc. Photo frames, canvas wall art, table decor, drawer knobs, loads of fabric, storage baskets, kids holiday arts & crafts, plastic florals (which we didn't get to look at) full length mirrors with large hand glued rhinestones costing $500(!), they've got it all! We spent 1.5 hrs here and stayed until closing. This was a more productive stop compared to the 4 hours we spent at IKEA beforehand. Best believe the shopping cart was full at check out. read more

They have the sign as 50% and 40% off, but when you go pay it will scan at regular price. Plus the registers employee have to punch the price manually each one item, so waiting time is longer. They don't scan the barcode, they literally manually input/type the price in the register. What a waste of time. Change your register to be productive, input the sale price in the system so it will scan manually, so you don't have to asked other employee if the item is on sale or not. The manager and older lady that work there are so rude ugh. They lack costumer services skills. I walked in and the manager was on her phone and the other workers were huddled up in the front doing nothing. I asked them a question politely and they were so bothered to help me find something. It was just unpleasant that I had to just leave. I hope they change their attitude and start every costumer interaction with kindness and respect. This is the time to go to the Hobby Lobby. You've got tons of people on your Christmas list and need to find those perfect presents. Let me tell you... there aren't that many more shopping days till Christmas. Your aunt that you see only twice a year and that cousin that lives across the country. All these people you don't ever see and know so little about can be so hard to shop for. Its hard to walk past the HL and not walk in. In the window they have these Bob Ross gifts and crafts for kids. Your gonna get lured in I know it. I know it. Ross and Marshalls next door is a lot of left over stuff sometimes. All picked through. Tough to navigate. Piles of stuff.... Sometimes a bit of chaos and when compared to this spot - HL is a much better overall experience. I've never been too impressed HL in general - just because of the quality of the goods and the 'too much plastic' everywhere factor. All this decor. Too much decor. But this location is in a good strip mall and parking is convenient. The strip mall itself is safe and crime free. Really. Nothing bad will ever happen here. read more

Brendan in Custom Framing is the best!! I have been to a few custom framers before, but Brendan is the best bc he is so patient and really takes the time to understand your vision and help plan and size your piece. I had a vision of a piece of framed art for some flowers I got from Paris. I brought my flowers and a shadow box frame I purchased elsewhere over to Brendan in Custom Framing. He was so patient and took the time to understand my vision and what I was thinking of for a 3D custom mat. He is also an expert framer and gave me his suggestions for how to best fit into the frame, dimensions and how we would achieve that 3D look. The result was making my vision into a reality. I love the piece and couldn't have done it without Brendan's help. What's also amazing is the price was very reasonable. I could have easily paid 2x the price elsewhere. I also didn't feel any pressure and less attention bc I brought my own frame and was only getting a custom mat. Lastly and most importantly, the quality and cut of the mat was so sharp, clean and professional. I highly recommend seeing Brendan! I was searching for yarn stores on Yelp and Hobby Lobby popped up in my search. It appears they opened in the former Toys R Us store during SIP. Of course I had to go there and experience this once. They have a lot of merchandise. HL reminds me of Tuesday Morning or Ross without the clothes. They managed to fill up the entire TRU space. Yarn was not on sale and there were no coupons. I did buy a few of their private label yarns to try them out. I wouldn't say their prices are the best. I think Michael's Joann and Walmart have better prices. I do have to give them kudos for being well stocked. Not sure if they can survive in this location. There were very few shoppers. read more

What a treat it was to shop at Hobby Lobby after years of having two grim choices: the Michaels of Doom and Joann. Hobby Lobby was clean, neat, and well organized; it was fully stocked; the people who worked there were polite and pleasant; and the prices were very reasonable. I bought two bottles of RIT liquid fabric dye for $2.99 each (regular price), and the exact same product was listed for $4.99 at Joann earlier that week. Plethora and endless aisles of unnecessary home decor items, but because it's pretty or 50% off, you'll fill your cart with more things you didn't plan on purchasing. I think labels are pretty clear whether they are included in sale or not. Each week's category is different which you can check their online flyer. The sticker would say something like 'Wall Decor' 'Table Decor' 'Glassware' so you can determine which category it's in. Some items can be in the wrong section, placed with a bunch of other things, or have versatile uses so see what category it's labeled. Yea the lines suck at times, but let's face it. Working hourly in retail isn't the most glamorous job either, especially during holiday season. What frustrates me is when people in line get to the cashier and THEN DECIDE whether you want the item or not?! What??? Because they find out it wasn't the price they thought it was or maybe it's on clearance but there's a scratch or broken corner and still try to find out if you can get 90% off?! Or asking the cashier to check inventory for you? Please be considerate of the other 20+ people waiting behind you. For the most part, I think items are organized well in this location. Holiday decorations are more comprehensive than any store imo. I am so impressed with the level of customer service and expertise - it's not too often you come across employees in retail, that have a smile on their faces and will actually take the time to listen and assist. Zach was exactly that - he was superb!! He helped me with a custom frame that had to fit a couple odd-size pieces. Looks great. For my 2nd "custom-frame" project we ran into an obstacle as the print was too close to the edges and would not fit into the frame. He gave me the option of purchasing a floating frame, which he then offered to do himself, while I finished my shopping. Thank you Zach!! read more

This is a place that sells all kinds of pictures, collectibles and knicknacks to spruce up your home. They have unique pictures and artwork to hang in your man cave, garage, like western themes, patriotic themes, vintage themes and the like. And a bunch of small miniature shelves, an assortment of glass bottles and jars many with an antique or vintage style, colorful globes, and hunderds or collectibles. There's something for everyone here. I got a canvass box style print of a vintage lightbulb. It has a switch on it which makes the bulb looklike it turns on. I put a few pictures up of it. Joann's is very sparse these days so I braved this kitschy maze. I try to avoid this establishment because their politics are abhorrent. They have a lot of cotton prints, and a myriad yarn in colorful tints. Staff are new, but eager and nice. I bought a bunch of fabric (my vice.) Love this place and feel so fortunate we have one! I haven't been to one before and some reviews noted it could be uncomfortably religious. I did see more crosses and bibles than at Michael's and Joanns but nothing obtrusive and I'm not aware of the political history that some reviewers commented on. So this review is based on my visits and services received. I've visited 3 times since opening and found it to have a huge selection and friendly staff! It's much more organized than it's competitors and I appreciate the variety. We also did some custom matting and found the attendant really helpful and informative. We had started at Michael's, which was a hot mess and we left for Hobby Lobby after, who took care of our needs immediately. Check your receipts! Horrible customer service. The cashier apparently just typed in whatever number she felt like putting in. The price was not what was advertised, the price was not the price tag literally on the item. Just stole some extra $ from me on a random Monday. Called the manager over just to tell me to go to another register with an obnoxiously long line behind it. I asked why I need to do all that when she should just cancel the transaction or refund it. The cashier and the manager did not want to deal with it. Had to wait in another line for a refund of an item the cashier randomly punched it after standing in a long line to purchase it in the first place. Now I have to wait a week or two for my refund. I was in the Bay Area and wanted to hit up the 50% craft sale. This store is so big and I loved it!!! The store is clean, well organized and the staff is friendly. When checking out always make sure you know what is on sale because the products aren't rung up either the discount. The cashier has to enter the discount for each item. This is the first time this happened to me but my items were rung up without their discount. I informed the cashier and she check the ad and was very nice and applied my discount. Awful, awful customer service. The young lady at checkout completely ignored me at checkout and wanted to gossip with her supervisor instead. They were gossiping about how she was being asked to stay overtime again and couldn't understand why they kept asking her. Also saying how her parents would be upset that she worked late. Never offered a bag and pretty much tuned out. When I walked out I realized that I was overcharged! So went back in to check and it was not my imagination. Took pics. Went to discuss with man at return line. Same, blank stare. Showed him the pics and he called the same supervisor over. She argued with me about pricing, that it was 90% off of the retail price $49.99 not the red sticker of $12.49. OK, so you are charging me $12.49! So even if it was $49.99, it would only be $5 not $12.49. I pointed this out and they just ignored me. I also had a bunch of their Spring decorations which were also under the same 90% sign which they did honor.. She said those were on sale, that's why pricing is different. Huh?? Those were 90% off retail. Same as what you are saying about these.. If these are 90% off retail too, then this should not be $12.49, it should be $5!! The man at exchanges just shrugged his shoulders and I basically said screw it just take it back. Time to file a complaint with State Board of Equalization on false advertising. Plus every time you go to buy something that says 40 or 50 percent off they tell you that item isn't included in the sale. I just went to buy copper wire for jewelry making, there was a sign that read 50% off all jewelry making. I get to the register but the cashier, who first thought the wire was a "paper product," tells me the wire, which is for jewelry making, isn't part of the promotion. Never fails and it's happened to me with different items multiple times.
