Honey Bee Quilt store was my destination as I was seeking a quilt restoration location. Honey Bee Quilt store was lined with beautifully designed and sewn quilts. Interestingly, you can rent a large quilting machine in store. Someone was sewing a quilt while I was in the store. Of the quilt stores I have frequented, Honey Bee has the largest and most intricately sewn quilts. When I was small child, I remember my mother hand sewing these beautiful quilts. These were not the beautiful quilts with perfect squares, octagon or star patterns. In addition, they did not have the white filling that some quilts have nowadays. However, they were extremely warm, cozy and made with love. My mother sewed her quilts from clothing that her children no longer wore and from pieces she found in thrift stores. The inside of her quilts were clothing laid flat and tacked together. Rewinding to those times, I sat in a red Mexican wooden chair with little colorful flowers across on the back of the chair with a strong Raffia like seat. As my mother sat and sewed her quilts, I read to her, which is first how I gained a love for reading. While I grew up in a single parent household, it was filled with a tremendous amount of love and laughter. My father died as result of a work-related accident when I was 7 seven years old. I associate my mom's quilt with the love in our household and my love of her. Fast-forward to today, my one and only quilt I have from my mom has materials that are moving around. Therefore, they need to be redistributed and tacked down. This restoration effort first led me to a store on Anderson Lane and then to Honey Bee Quilt store. Unfortunately, both stores only sale sewing supplies and/or sewing machines. I met the nicest woman at Honey Bee that referred me to a Sewing Guild in Austin. So, I am extremely hopeful that one of the ladies in the Sewing Circle can help restore my mom's quilt, which has a great deal of intrinsic and sentimental value.

Tucked into a shopping strip I wasn't sure what to expect but the fabric selection was nice and it varied from my normal local quilt shop so that was fun. The staff were friendly and they were extremely busy. I really loved the selection of patterns and pattern books. Definitely plan to go back and peruse a bit more leisurely next time. Open Monday-Saturday and nowhere close to my home office, I'm limited on when I can get there, but will be worth the effort now and then.

Shopping was a challenge in the oasis because they didn't have the items listed online (they had an intern manually update each item in the database). But now they have moved and I'm happy their items are available online too! I got the wooden gecko puzzle which is the coolest toy ever. They have a lot more (check out the moose!) I bought some scented items for my apartment to make it more cozy. I'll be shopping online, but I'm happy the staff is so cool and their one of a kind items are still available! Imo their value is in the novelty, I enjoy how unique these items are. I spent $50 here on 2 scented bottles with some incense sticks.

I had previously gone to Once Upon a Child in Round Rock, but when I went to resell some of my…read morekids' items, I realized that the Georgetown location was the closest one to me (I believe the RR location has since rebranded). This was a 30-minute drive for me from Pflugerville. I can only speak to the selling process at this location, which I think could be helpful for other people in my position. The store did not explain the process to me. I brought in a handful of items, and I was asked to provide my driver's license. They put my items in a bin and I was told that the store had a 2-hour backlog of items to go through. No problem; I drove back home and received a voice mail later that day that they were finished and I could come pick up my items. I returned the phone call and found out that I HAD to physically come back to the store within 24 hours to pick up any items they didn't want and to receive my credit for the items they wanted to keep. There is no other option. I explained that I was 30 minutes away (and I actually had to be out of town that day) and could they just let me know how much they were buying? No, they would not offer that information over the phone. So I rearranged my work trip schedule to add an extra hour on the road to drive to Georgetown and back, only to find out they were only offering to buy ONE item, at less than $2. So that likely didn't even cover my gas to drive there and back twice. If I had known, I wouldn't have even bothered to go back and pick up my items, which ended up going in the convenient clothes donation bin located behind the store in the parking lot.

TLDR: A lot of good deals here -- great way to stock up on kids' stuff without breaking the bank…read more Streamlined selling process with a high purchase rate. Payout depends on resale value. Store is small so bulky items like cribs are not accepted. If you have a large item, call ahead to gauge interest. Bring your driver's license. This was my first time selling with them (any location) but the process was fairly straightforward. The employees could have been a bit more helpful (especially since I was struggling to drag multiple large items into the doorway) but they were easy to interact with and mostly pleasant. HOW IT WORKS: You bring your stuff. If it's in bags or bins of clothes/toys -- they limit it to two items per selling session. You scan the QR code on the counter and fill out the online form to register. They call your name and check you in. They give you a time estimate and you can either leave or stay in the store. You get a text message when your stuff has been reviewed. Note: they can only hold your stuff for about a day (24 hours, I believe) so plan accordingly. You come back and they tell you what they would like to buy and how much they will offer you for it. You can accept either cash or credit (same amount, you don't get more for choosing credit, like at Buffalo Exchange). Credit only makes sense if you're buying something else on the spot. They also return anything they don't want. Note: if you want to be in and out as fast as possible, get there 10-15 minutes before they open and wait outside the door so you can be first in line to sell. I've come several times at 10am and there's always someone there already. PURCHASE RATE: They took most of what I brought. I brought 2 large containers of clothes and toys and they took about 90% of it. I had already filtered to try to pull out anything damaged but I'm still very pleased with how much they bought. It also depends on their current inventory. I noticed they had a few baby carriers in stock -- assuming they will pay less or reject them altogether. PAYOUT: For used clothes, it won't be that high. Obviously, depends on brand and condition too. Same for other items. For instance, I brought a Baby Bjorn Bouncer (Bliss) in a discontinued color (clean, great condition, toy bar included). About $300 value originally. They offered me about $30. Not as much as I could get if I really invested effort in selling it online but not bad. Regarding my two aforementioned containers of clothes and toys, they paid $50. I had a few brand new (with tags) items so I feel like the payout was higher than usual. BULKY ITEMS: Please note that this store is pretty cramped and stuffed full of items for sale. They put their strollers outside but the inside doesn't leave much room for bulky items. As a result, they don't accept cribs. They might accept other large items depending on brand, whether it folds, condition, and what they currently have in stock. I saw a pack and play there but they may only have room for one at a time. It doesn't hurt to call and ask if you've got a large item and don't want to lug it in unnecessarily. They did accept a Regalo playpen I brought in (it did fold up though). PARKING: It's in a strip mall so parking is easy. Ultimately, I'm just happy to pass on my stuff (and keep it out of the landfill) and make a few bucks in the process.

They have fantastic gifts for birthdays, graduations and Christmas! Each year they have a special Christmas event where you can come in and get ideas and pick up some fun things for your loved ones. I've received some really cute things there and I've also given awesome gifts that I've found in the shop. Whenever you are looking for a unique gift for that special someone - don't forget about this fun shop.
