I like to support local shops over online retailers but unfortunately this business is run poorly. I've attempted to purchase a few rc items from this location twice and both experiences were terrible. The first time I walked in the guy at the counter was painting an rc plane and was on what seemed a personal phone call. I continued to walk around and had yet to be acknowledged. After standing at the counter for a few minutes he set his phone aside and asked me what I needed as if I was bothering him. I just went in for batteries and he said they did not carry them and went back on his phone call. I thought maybe he was having a bad day so I left. I tried giving them another try yesterday and called during business hours no answer. Called a few times before someone answered and had a soggy attitude. I asked him for a specific part and he proceeded to question me as if I didn't know what I was looking for. I offered to give him a part number for reference but he said no and said he would call me back. Still have yet to hear back from him. This place is a joke of a hobby shop. I am more than willing to drive to San Jose to Nor-Cal hobby where the selection and customer service is significantly better. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I have driven by numerous times over the last few days, during posted business hours, and the place always has a closed sign. If you call, the phone rings for a long time before the voicemail kicks in, but it isn't updated with store hours. I would like to support a local shop, but I can't recommend this place, since they never seem to be open. read more

We were new to the RC world when we came to Hobby Planet and glad we came to the right place. Manny is super friendly, very knowledgeable and willing to give you his opinion to steer you in the right direction. Manny got us set up with 2 Sentons, 1 Typhon, batteries and charger so dad and his two boys can have countless hours of fun. Since we were new, he took the time to walk us through the importance of how to properly charge the batteries and store them as well. I read a review that the selection is poor. The shop may be small but Manny keeps important parts in stock to keep the vehicles he stocks up and running. You can always give him a call to see if they have what you need in stock before you head in. From our experience, If an item or vehicle you are looking for is not in stock he can typically get what you need in just a few days. This has been very helpful because even though you are buying quality items, things are going to break and wear out. As for the prices, Manny has been cheaper than online and I guarantee you will not get the customer service or support online that you are going to receive from Manny which has been priceless. Saved my day! I busted my RC drift cars wheel off and couldn't continue my show. I am an out of towner and the owner made me feel at home. He got me situated with a new part fast and got me drifting again in no time. Super friendly and caring to the community! I just got back into RC cars. This place was great in getting me started again. The staff was very helpful. Never tried to over sell me on something I did not need. He listened to me, as I explained what level I wanted to enter into. Showed me a couple of cars. Then recommended one. No it was not the most expensive. It was the car that best fit my needs. Again as a beginner. I had a small problem. I took my car back. They gladly helped me figure out my problem. Mind you it was my fault. Not the car I purchased or the shop. I also needed a second battery. Again they sold me what I needed not what would make them the most money. I recommend this shop to thous that are Interested in RC. I have been there twice. First time, went in to see what they had. Their selection is poor. Seems like they focus a lot on RC cars and pre-assembled quadcopters. If you are looking to custom build something, their selection will be disappointing. The second time, I tried to stop by at 1235 to see if they have some specific items I needed to purchase (online/website says they open at 1230 and the sign on the door said they open at 1230). The doors were locked and there was someone standing behind the counter, I thought they might be a few min late in opening the door so I waited a few min. They guy came to the door said they don't open for another half hour, even though the sign on the door said they open at 1230, and before I could ask any questions he closed and locked the door on me. It is unfortunate that they are the only hobby shop in the area, I prefer to buy local and support local businesses but I ended up buying online and I will not be returning to this store again. read more

I was interested in repairing a rc car. I showed up when it was supposed open, but no one was there. When I called the store the man said he could only help me on the week day. I'm all about supporting local businesses but if your not going to be at you shop there is nothing I can do for you. This is why people choose Amazon. read more

During my original tip "Twice I have stopped by in the last week and it is always closed. Sign says back at 2:30pm. No answering machine. I don't know of any business where they shut the doors during business hours. Most small owner shops would pack a lunch and keep doors open to stay open." Just went by about an hour ago, manny is a great guy! Very helpful, and such a great attitude helped me out with what I needed! Luckily I found parking right in front, due to all the construction. However great little shop over all, only downside is they're a bit far from where I live near Hollister, but hey customer service definitely goes a long way! Called on Labor Day (a lot of places have sales) to see if the business was open. The man that answered the phone said they would be open at 3pm today. Seemed like an odd time, but packed my kids up and drove the 30 minutes over there. Unloaded my kids , in an extremely sketchy area to say the least, and go up to the business. Doors are locked. We wait a bit. Nothing. 3:15 I call again and no answer. A little frustrated and uncomfortable with the area, we get back into the car . Decided to run an errand and then try again . Call again at 3:30 and the same guy from before says "I'm out of town". Hmm. Ok. So why not tell me the first time that your business is closed today? I express my frustration and he replies that he will get someone to come down today and that he will call me back. Never calls me back. Business was not open the next day during posted "business hours". Took my kids and spent our $500 somewhere else. This place has forever lost our business. It's too bad , because there are no other local RC car shops. read more

This store might as well just shut down completely. They're hardly ever open anyways and when they are, the service was horrible ( however I did only talk to the only employee in there). And all the hours of operation that are posted on the door might as well say " we'll be open whenever we feel like it. I'm pretty sure you have to be open to actually sell items in your store and make money... But maybe I'm wrong. Lol I won't be wasting my time dealing with this store again. This place has so many parts, and cars. He goes out of his way to get what you need. Never gone their and walked out empty handed. They have so many cool parts and upgrades. Always has been open when I've gone their. Some of you are complaining about the opening hours, but if you search ''hobby planet'' The hours come up, and it's never been wrong. Owner has so many great tips, to get your rc car back in shape, and it's very affordable, most hobby shops try to make you dump a ton of money into useless excessories, however this owner gets you exactly what you need, when you need it for very cheap. Also has tons of rpm upgrades, which is great for my traxxas slash 2wd. deffinetly give this place a shot, don't listen to the reviews about the hours, just check their time, and call in to see if they're there. read more

Never pick up phones! They have lots of stuff just would be nice if they kinda stocked more axial and more Traxxas normal wear parts. I find it ridiculous to not have driveshafts and wheel pins in stock at alm times. read more
