Hoblin Locksmiths is by far the BEST locksmith I have ever encountered. If you need a locksmith, do yourself a favor and call Paul! My fiancé and I first used Paul's locksmith services when moving into our home and needed the locks changed. From start to finish, Paul was extremely knowledgeable, kind and professional. His prices are extremely reasonable and he does the job right the first time (unlike other locksmiths who fix it half way only so they can come back and charge a hefty price again). Additionally, we have used Paul's locksmith services in times of emergency, to which he was extremely responsive and blew us away with his abilities. One evening after a long day of work, and running back and forth doing laundry, our key got stuck in our lock an my fiancé and I couldn't get back inside. Panicked because our stove was on, Paul got to our apartment in 10 minutes and within 15 min we were back inside our apartment. After getting us inside, Paul not only replaced our lock, but also adjusted our keys, made us an additional key we needed, changed our doorknob (it had been loose) and taught us what had happened to our door. Hoblin locksmith is more than great. They only charge 98 to come to your house and if you need them the same day is $20 extra. Most places charge $200 to $300 for same day service. I live in one of the Garth Road Coops and the locksmiths that the coop itself recommends is really expensive and does not use quality parts. Its a win-win for the coop and the expensive locksmith, the expensive locksmith makes massive amounts of money on you for crappy parts and the coop gets a nice kickback. I have dealt with everyone at the store, which includes Marsha and Paul. The store has been around for a 100 years, they know what their talking about. Paul has installed a new deadbolt lock for me and repaired an existing lock for me. Both times it was very reasonable. The first deadbolt lock was given to me at a reasonable discount. The second lock (the lock owned by the coop) I though I had to replace because it was giving me problems. Instead, Paul looked at it, repaired some missing/damaged parts, and just charged me for the house call. He did not charge me for parts. He even sanded down the door jam part so the door would close more smoothly. To boot, he provides some nice conversation and is quite friendly. I would recommend them whole-heatedly. read more

I needed copies to a key that I was told was going to be impossible to get based on the fact that they're rare keys and that I had to contact the maker of the lock itself or get the whole lock changed out instead. I even went to the locksmith who had originally made a copy of the key as their name was engraved right on it! I decided to call Hoblin's and spoke to Paul who recommended that I send him pictures of the key so that he could tell me whether he would be able to make copies or not. Sure enough, he said he could and so I went directly there and he had my three copies made in a matter of minutes. He and his wife are also very nice people, which made the experience even better. This is the best locksmith you'll find. Paul is a craftsman and take such incredible pride in his work, and there isn't a job too difficult for him to fix. He's responsive, very reasonably priced and accommodating. He's an old fashioned business man who cares about his customers and is willing to keep the store open after closing time just to help you out. I recently brought him a European door handle that had broken and he didn't have a metric wrench the right cut or size to fix it so he actually made one for me and then gave it to me to use on all my other doors if the need ever came up.
