We turned to 3 Dog Splash for May 2023 when my entire family would be traveling across the country for a graduation. We reserved a space for our 10-year old, slow lab at her home. Then, with about a month before the trip, we unexpectedly learned we'd have to bring my aunt with us, leaving her 2 cats in need of care. And at that point, I decided we should ask Rachel to take care of our cat at our home as well. I called Rachel, and she offered to take care of the cats herself at my mom's home and our home daily for the week. (Fortunately she wasn't at capacity when I called for the additional help.) Our dog and the cats were so well-loved and taken care of. I never worried for a minute about them. She shared some photos of our dog with us on his multiple daily walks and sleeping on the sofa. My aunt's cats were a nightmare - they had been traumatized by a cross country move only a month earlier and had horrible accidents in the house. Rachel took care of them and the accidents without complaint. We were so very thankful! And our cat was looked after carefully every day as well. On several occasions, I have personally witnessed handlers yelling aggressively at dogs, jerking them harshly by the leash, and even striking animals during walks. As someone who cares deeply about animal welfare, I found the behavior extremely upsetting and inappropriate for anyone trusted with the care of pets. I would strongly encourage pet owners to use caution and thoroughly research caregivers before entrusting their animals to this company. Animals deserve patience, kindness, and humane treatment -- not intimidation or physical aggression.

As he grew, his reactivity…read moregrew.  I thought I could handle it, but I was wrong.  Finally, after a dreadful visit to the vet I, for the first time in my long life, I looked for a dog trainer.  I wanted someone who was not using aggression, hard control methods like shock collars, etc.  It is a very small pool of trainers that fit that bill. My two regrets are that 1 - I waited so long to find Julia, and 2 - that I did not start with her board and train.   Julia was great with once-a-week training, but I wasn't. Every time my dog went crazy I stopped. I gave up. So, I finally accepted that boarding him with Julia was my only hope. I am very tight with money because I don't have extra, but this was my only hope. When he came home after 2 weeks with Julia, my beautiful dog actually let me put his harness on. I mean he was calm and happy getting his harness on.  He got into the car with no fuss.  Wow!  He came home with his nails trimmed!  The vet wouldn't do his nails until he was totally sedated.  I mean not gabapentin but, Totally  Sedated.    Now, I take him for walks every day, happily!!!! Real walks. We are hoping with Julia's help to expand our horizons even more.  There is not a chance that I could possibly recommend Guiding Tails more Highly. Wish I'd found them sooner.

After our local training place closed we were looking for other options and committed to positive reinforcement training. Unfortunately a lot of trainers use aversives, especially with large strong dogs. We were so excited to find Julia, and after our meet & greet we were confident she was a good choice. Julia did a 2 week board & train with our dog while we were traveling, mainly focusing on leash skills and practicing calm behavior around exciting things. We noticed an immediate improvement, but have also been continuing to work on the training at home after our follow up. I'm happy to report that we are continuing to see improvement using Julia's methods.

Back in December my dog had a rapidly growing mass on his front leg, they got him seen and it removed all with in the same day as his appointment! Disclaimer we are from Nevada and his vets down there wouldn't touch it, here they knew exactly how to handle it! Removed it and biopsied it and gave me my peace of mind and my healthy dog back. Next today my other boy got attacked by a rouge off leash dog ripped his front tooth out and left a big ol puncture in the roof of his mouth and they got him in and taken care of better then I ever could have imagined! I live in Nevada and come up every so often to visit my family and I am about to 100% commit to having all of my animals (4 dogs and 2 cats) seen here and make the trek up because they know what to do and handle everything. I absolutely love them here! I got so blessed to have stumbled upon this vet and I don't plan on ever needing a new one! They do it ALL here and in house!

Although it was a bit of a drive (gorgeous view of Mt Rainier as you drive up!), the place was calm and not too busy, not like the vibe of some urgent animal care spots you may go to! She took such great care of Scamper years ago, that we hired her to care for our other cat while we went out of the country for 3 weeks. She administered meds and fluids, made sure she had plenty of water and food and cleaned the litter box. Alesia and Angie (her assistant) sent us pictures so we knew Hunter was well cared for. We also had a house sitter at the time and there were some things Alesia thought were amiss. She contacted us and let us know what was going on and we had to let our house sitter go. She is a highly ethical person who went above and beyond what we had hired her for. I can't say enough. I would trust my pet and my home with Alesia and her assistant Angie anytime. I am grateful to have found such a loving, kind and compassionate person to care for my pets. I know they are in the best of hands when I am gone.

I am curious to know how many people they've said this to?? Again feeling sad and hopeless, my husband almost put Loki down...but I refused and found a trainer that ending up saving his life. This trainer was the best thing that had happened to our dogs!!! Here's the thing. We listened, tried everything they told us. They gave us bad advice, did not teach us how to work our dogs and put us and our dogs in a bad situation at the dog park. It gives me a terrible stomach ache just thinking about what we all went through with this place and all the money wasted. -Deborah talks the talk, but does not walk the walk -Does not have experienced training staff -Uses only harnesses -They did not teach us the tools to be successful on our own -Found ourselves asking what we're supposed to do when we weren't at lessons, even when we asked for answers -Told us to put our dog down and to give the other away -Deborah only cares about getting paid. Loki did not get his third private lesson that we paid for.. And did not complete the full board & train If you have a dog who really needs help, especially with obedience or behavioral problems, message me and I'll tell you where we got real help and real results. My experience with Deborah has been very mixed. My dog is very well behaved with one exception -…read moreshe barks at the door. I scheduled a private session at my home with Deborah since this is the only place where my dog barks. She called ten minutes past our appointment time, asking if we were supposed to be meeting (we had scheduled this two days prior). Deborah and her trainees finally arrived, the training did go relatively well. My dog responded well to the techniques used, but I was very surprised that I was not involved in the training. I did not practice with my dog at all during the session. Also, the only thing my dog learned during the $150 session was to make eye contact when her name is called in order to earn a treat. A majority of the time was spent with Deborah and the two gentlemen she was training giving my dog treats in order to warm her up to them. In total the session was a little over an hour. While I was impressed that my dog stayed engaged for that long (usually during training she gets bored after about 20 minutes), I did not feel that the amount of improvement was worth $150. I emailed Deborah for advice the next day. My dog sleeps with me and was running to the front door to bark before I could command her to calm. This lead to a good amount of barking before I was able to get to her. It took two weeks to get a response and I was told that I was the problem and I needed to crate my dog at night. Crating is not an option because 1. I need my dog to sleep with me and 2. when we tried crating her originally she multiple times hurt herself trying to get out. The response was that I needed to spend more money on more training. I understand that one session can only do so much, but I really feel more could have been taught to me and that for the amount I paid there should be some more advice via email/phone to follow up.

Went in for her nail trim today and she half fell off the table…read more Only thing that caught her from fully falling off was the rope around her neck which choked her and the groomer who grabbed her by the paw. So essentially my dog could have left there with a broken neck and/or leg. My dog has always received compliments from various vet techs and other groomers about how well behaved and non-fidgety she is, so something must have really hurt her to make her move the way she did. Aside from my dog leaving there traumatized, they also did a terrible job with the service itself. It doesn't even look like she got her nails trimmed. Maybe half of her nails, if that, look complete. Pics for reference.
