I'm no longer right in their neighborhood but this is still one of my favorite pharmacies. They turn around prescriptions so quickly, are extremely affordable and I rarely have any issues at all. This is my favorite no-frills pharmacy in the area, hands down. As far as prescriptions, I would opt for them over any of the big box stores in a heartbeat. They do have a small store with some over the counter goods, but it isn't a huge selection. For over the counters, it is probably safer to go to one of the big guys. but for prescriptions, I highly recommend HFP! read more

This isn't a good pharmacy. You have to remind them to refill your perscription otherwise they won't do it. Even if you call them and ask them to fill it, and they say they will, but I would stop by and it wouldn't be done. They are lazy, obnoxious and untrustworthy. When you walk into the place, they act like having customers is inconvienient. You often have to actively get their attention otherwise they will ignore you, even though they see you and know you're there. Even when you do get their attention, they're obnoxious. This week I received a one prescription that was short on pill count, they closed 2 hours earlier than their posted hours and another prescription I ordered is still not available after a few days waiting. Just to moved to Hoboken and transferring a generic prescription. I have found I am sensitive to the Mfr. for this medicine. Walgreens and Medicine could not help me get the specific Mfr. Called Hoboken Family Pharmacy, who did some homework and confirmed they could order it and had the prescription filled in 24 hours. Great communication and they were also super nice. Many years ago, I would sit and wait and wait at CVS or Walgreens like the rest of the ill- informed Rx automatons. The employees tended to be brusque and rude, but understandably so as they seemed pretty overworked. Then I found Hoboken Family Pharmacy at 307 First St in Hoboken. My Doctors send e-scripts and hours later or next day the order arrives, free delivery! Jaffer, the owner/pharmacist is great! Kristin, another pharmacist on staff, is incredibly helpful and always ready to answer any questions. She's incredibly knowledgeable and gracious. This has been our go-to pharmacy since moving to Hoboken. They are friendly, honest, prompt, and organized. The store is as clean as a whistle. I would never go anywhere else for my prescriptions in Hoboken. We have also used them for flu and TDAP vaccines and they have been excellent. Highly recommend! Extremely necessary medication you're told is available, walk over, "not ready until tomorrow". Bad business and dangerous. This has happened many times. Every month you have to call for a refill, they don't auto refill either. Don't ask too many questions either, you'll get nasty looks and a facetious attitude. Didn't want to but I'll have to switch to a big box pharmacy. At least when they ship it to me I won't have to deal with the nasty looks!! read more

This pharmacy is fan-freakin-tastic. The reason for this is the fact that the owner/pharmacists really cares about service, his customers, and getting you out the door quickly. Pet friendly too....score! I came in after a trip to the walk-in clinic next door with a horrible case of the flu. I walked out with my scripts filled in less than 10 minutes. CVS would have told me to come back in 2 hours. The pharmacists that proceeded to apologize that my insurance copay for one of my prescriptions was very high and offered to call them. Knowing this type of business and how things work, I knew it would be a fruitless effort and passed on the offer. But come on...That's some service! He also let me know that I could just give them pharmacy phone numbers and they'd get any standing scripts I have transferred. They also have free delivery. I know these guys need to have stand-out service to compete with the "big boy" chains but they really go above and beyond. Do yourself a favor and support this neighborhood family business...It's just another part of what makes Hoboken awesome. read more

My wife first went into Hoboken Family Pharmacy a few months back to pick up some natural soaps for our newborn. She came away impressed with the service and the attention and made a point to me to try them the next time we needed anything from the pharmacy. So when I had to get a refill on a prescription, turned to them and I'm glad I did. The prescription was originally filled at a large chain pharmacy. Service was good enough but I can't say it was anything to write about on Yelp. But unsure as to whether or not Hoboken Family Pharmacy would be able to provide me a refill, I gave them a call. They took down my info - and the Rx number from the chain pharmacy - and said they'd get back to me with an answer. 5 or 10 minutes later, not only did they say it was possible... it was done! If I had been around the corner, I could have walked in and picked it up. I didn't even have to provide my insurance information - they looked it up from the chain store. But when they called back, they offered to deliver it for me - for free! Now I'll admit that transferring prescriptions might be common - even in refill situations. But to just take down my details and Rx number and call back to say its ready 5-10 minutes later is something I've never seen before. Moreover, the fact they delivered the script to my door 30 minutes after that was amazing and very much appreciated. I can't say I've had a better experience at any pharmacy. read more

While, in the past, I had always used big-name pharmacies, I figured I'd give it a try since the doctor raved about them, and conveniently, I only lived a block away. This is the type of business built around the needs of their customers. The employees always remember your name, greet you with a smile, and go above and beyond to accommodate you in every single way. They don't carry something you want? I don't know where to begin... I feel undeserving of the level of service that I receive here. The guy that I think is the owner/operator (Jaffer) knows me by name. He asks me about my spouse by name. He remembers things without seeming to check notes that I would have to keep in order to remember half the stuff he summons from his memory with ease... It's not just me. He seems to know all his repeat customers by name. The last two times that I have been there, my prescriptions cost pennies per pill and he didn't charge me. Today, I saw him not charge someone else because the copay would have been 15 cents. Today I told him that I quit my job and would be without insurance. There's an expensive maintenance drug that my spouse takes (which is cheaper to fill here than through the prescription by mail program that my previous employer forced us to use) and I asked him his thoughts on how to fill it while not insured. He directed me to a state program that he thought might be able to help. He gave me the number and told me that I should call him if I get the runaround as he knows someone who works there who can help. It doesn't hurt that he's very handsome. That might seem trivial, but his good looks pale in comparison to his generous spirit and his excellent customer service. Today he spoke so lovingly about his daughter and it made him even more sweet a person. Did I mention they stock Dettol? If you don't know about Dettol, you need to check that antiseptic out! Looks are deceiving! This was an amazing experience. We went to the urgent care, a few doors down and decided to fill our perception here instead of walking to the CVS. (It's important to us to support the local businesses when we can!) I had a few questions about my antibiotic and concerns about digestion during taking it. The pharmacist explained which probiotic would be best and why. And gave us tons of helpful tips on how to take the medications so they were most effective. We were blown away with this guy. Best. Don't go there. No ethics, the worst generic drug pushers !!! They lied to me on 2 occasions. Once they told me that there is no more brand Nasonex and today they lied twice a out Z Pack. First they told me that brand is no longer made and then in front of me they put the box behind the counter. I had to buy it from Walgreens full price. This pharmacy is running an insurance scam with a dermatologist in Hoboken. They billed over $800 dollars to my insurance for prescriptions I never received and without ever contacting me. I assume they took my info from the derm since to this day they have never talked to me. My insurance company had to call three times to get the charges reversed. You're better off sticking with CVS so you're not being taken advantage of read more

There are not enough stars in this rating scale to properly review the team at the Hoboken Family Pharmacy. If you live in hoboken, this is the only pharmacy you ever need to go to. my child has a medical condition that requires some pretty fancy compounding of medications. This was the only pharmacy in hoboken that knew what they were talking about and could do it. i put my child's life in their hands every single day and i have NEVER had a second thought about it. i trust them completely. the staff is amazing! super friendly and the service is second to none. we live at the most northern end of town and still ONLY use this pharmacy. read more

Last month was the first month I didn't have my works insurance so when I went to fill it at cvs it was $180!!!! Unbelievable but I had to fill it! I'll echo the other reviewers here and say this place is what a pharmacy should be. As was the case with one of the other reviewers here, my son's medication is a somewhat unusual order. The pills must be cut, and they are not scored for easy cutting. I was told by the doctor that very few pharmacies were willing to do this. We figured we'd be buying a pill-cutter and doing it ourselves. But Hoboken Family did it no problem. Alert to the parents of kids with ADHD and other similar conditions: Hoboken Family was the only pharmacy of like 12 that I called that has had the necessary medication either right away or in half a day. When you're experimenting with numerous meds trying to find the one that works, and unusual dosages/pill-cutting/compounding are required--all often the case with ADHD--then Hoboken Family is the place to go. I wish we could fill all our family's medications at Hoboken Family; unfortunately we're forced to do mail-order for most things. But if you live in Hoboken/Jersey City and have the choice, I'd choose this place every time. read more

Excellent! After going to CVS on Newark Street for the past 7 years I 'd pretty much had enough. Those people are RUDE and the wait is awful usually. I brought a script to CVS - I was in severe pain after dental work and asked how long it would be to fill it. The B*tch at the counter pretty much threw the script back at me and told me they were out of stock - didn't offer to order more or call the other TWO CVS pharmacies in Hoboken. Now, my doctor had called them an hour prior and they said they had it - when I asked the girl about this she smirked at me and said there must have been a rush to get this prescription...I asked her to call the other two cvs pharmacies and she acted offended...anyway I decided it was time for a new pharmacy. I took it to Hoboken Family Pharmacy - script was filled within 10 minutes by the nicest guy! The place is clean and welcoming. It was completely easy to transfer my insurance information. Looking around, they have a large stock of otc medications as well other things one might need [toothbrushes, soap, shampoo etc.] I asked to speak to the pharmacist b/c I had some questions and he spoke with me within 2 minutes of asking. They even deliver! I am DEFINITELY giving them my business from now on. read more

A pharmacy they way I imagine they were thirty years ago and before. Very personal direct care and professional practices. Helped me get my prescription coat which is not paid for by insurance for free first fill and then coat reduced by 40 percent. I just cannot recommend enough. read more

From start to finish worst customer service. DON'T GO HERE Couldn't find the place, the person I gave my prescription to constantly kept asking information I already gave her. They told me my insurance was invalid after just getting doctors treatment with it. After waiting 30 minutes outside in the cold I was told that actually my insurance is valid. They told me brand is not available when i always get brand at other places and my copay was like it was the brand. Needless to say I was already annoyed at the service I was receiving so I voiced my opinion to the store manager Jaffer.
