Wanted to order some custom jerseys. They demand the money up front before they will do anything. Then they tell me they can't work from my existing design ( i was trying to get the same look as existing jerseys). Apparently i was supposed to redesign them from scratch using their software, which was confusing and annoying. I AM A HOCKEY PLAYER, NOT SOME KIND OF GRAPHIC ARTIST!!! They refuse to discuss it over the phone, just sent me pages of baffling info with terminology i don't understand; make the customer feel stupid appears to be their MO. I used to like to go to the showroom but I understand why they shut that part down. They always treat me great there. Prices are great. Gear is good. Staff is knowledgable. I've had some custom jerseys made and they came out amazing. I believe Chris J is at their Anaheim or Irvine location but he helped me with that. He was great to work with. Responsive. There's a girl that works at the Vista location and she is just as cute as she is knowledgeable of the product. DO NOT USE!! THE MOST FRUSTRATING CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! Im in the middle of a order now. Im 5 weeks in. They told me it would all be done and shipped and at my place 4-6 weeks. Right now they havent even started printing it. Their designer is in Pakistan and had a hiliday and took a week and a half off without informing me and left me with zero communication. The management and owner chris Malki promised he would make it happen asap and now he wont reply to my emails or calls. The same now is happening with the rest if the company they don't answer calls or emails and make it so frustrating. The only person that emails me is the designer and he sends me one sentence answers and is still tryjng to finish the design. I legit sent the design to the guy and its taking him over 5 week to put it into his format!! This has been the single most frustrating experience and i paid close to 2k with money from 15 guys on a team and now they are all mad at me because our season is starting and we dont have jerseys! Avoid. Long story short, I'll be driving to Irvine if I need to actually go to a hockey store. If you are an expert on hockey gear you're probably fine, but then you might as well order online and get better deals. I'm an adult and wanted to start ice skating since my daughter is learning to play hockey. This is the only hockey store in the San Diego area, so I went to get help buying a pair of skates so I could stop renting dull skates at the rink. I wear a size 8.5, the guy "helping" me gave me a pair of 8D Bauer Vapors to try on. Of course, they felt OK... since they are at least a size too large. After four attempts at wearing them to skate, I had such bad foot pain that I started researching... and found that I should probably be wearing a size 7 in these skates, and that this line (Vapors) is probably too narrow for my foot, I would do better with the Bauer Supreme or Nexus. I would have done better ordering online without any "help" sizing, because at least I would have measured my foot. Went back to the store on my next Friday off and explained the situation, the person wouldn't even consider doing an exchange because the skates were sharpened. I told her I felt it was their fault for being negligent, but there was no willingness to try to make it right. So I'm out $150 for nothing, and have to resort to eBay or craigslist to get some money back for the skates. Before this fiasco I had ordered a cheap practice jersey online with a name and numbers on it. When I picked it up the name was spelled wrong. They fixed it without complaining, but it took two attempts. If you go to their website, www.hockeytron.com, they have some really cheap deals on things frequently. You won't see these prices in the store, so stick to ordering online. However, I placed an order once that didn't ship for over a week, so I cancelled it. They did refund my money no questions asked. A different order showed up in one day. At this point I'll order cheap practice jerseys to wear at the rink all day long, but not much else. read more

Realizing that this is an internet business with a portion of their location available as a show room to the public, we decided to make the drive over while in town on vacation. We came specifically for an item advertised on clearance on the website only to be disappointed that it was not on clearance upon arrival. The guy working the front desk seemed to be more annoyed than anything with our presence, and we were the only customers there. We bought a few small things and won't be returning. Over a year ago my men's league team ordered jerseys for a charity game. Two of the jerseys never came, yet we were charged for them. Some of the lettering on the jerseys we did get didn't last beyond the first game. I contacted my rep and he said he'd look into it. Weeks went by and I had to follow up again. Was told he'd look into it. This time, months went by and I finally reached out again, yet never, even to this day have I received a response, refund, the jerseys they never sent or the replaced jerseys for the ones that lost letters. Pros, Cons, then Summary PROS--Great prices. I have been using Hockey Tron for about a year now, and their own products, so far, have been just almost as good as the major brands. I can't speak to the actual store, as I've done all of my shopping online, but their service has been great. Fast too. Granted, I only live @100 miles away, but I have gotten my items within 2 days from the date I ordered. That is a huge plus because I've ordered from their competitors in the area (Monkey/Giant) and I've had to wait upwards of an entire week to get my stuff from them. CONs--Their quality is a tad lower than CCM, Bauer, Easton, etc. Hockey Tron branded gear is for recreational play and beer league. If you play AA, AAA travel and above, stick with traditional hockey brands as the quality is a tad better. (I'm not going to get into the debate of Hockey Tron knocking off other brand's designs, you figure it out...I'm not the morality police) Will I go back? Yes, I play beer league now, so I was looking for some good equipment for cheap prices. If I need a cheap stick, I'll always come here. Do I need a $300 Bauer stick? yeah right, nobody is scouting my 10:30 pm adult hockey league Tuesday night game....I'll save that $$ for beer after the hockey game. read more

I used to buy from other companies and bankrupt myself until I was eating cup noodle every night because I was so desperate to get good quality gear in order to snipe like Gretzky but now that I have found Tron I can get the high quality gear that I need to snipe top cheddar at half the price! Since using Tron gear I have won the last 2 mens league championships and can afford a new Honda Fit Sport. I use the LS heat and score goals per game with it and i expect to bump that number up to 3 now that I've dropped my stick flex to 75. I use the Velocity shin guards that feel like Im not wearing anything because of how light they and they protect me from the desperate hacking defense when ever i split the D in overtime. Overall best bang for you buck for Hockey Gear. read more

Just found out about HockeyTron. Really nice retail shop with lots of selection. Went there specifically for practice jerseys. I'm a big guy and the 2XL Jersey I wear with full pads is just a bit too tight. Found out they had a few 3XL jerseys in stock so I had to check them out. Prices are really reasonable ($10 for base practice jersey). They've got a ton of stuff including pads, helmets, visors, gloves and socks. Will definitely be back for more. read more

Our recreational league team bought sweaters (jerseys) from these guys. The sleeves are WAY to thin to fit over elbow pads. The sleeves measure 7.5 inches across at the elbows versus 12 inches for a same-sized CCM jersey. They wouldn't take it back because it has a number on it. Get your sweaters elsewhere. read more

It pleases me to no end to see the enthusiasm for hockey picking back up in SD! The Gulls are back, and two new rinks have been built (Carlsbad and Poway) in addition to good ole' Ice-O-Plex in Esco. Hockeytron was a sponsor of Tri-City inline hockey for many years when they played out of the Mission. It is great to have a local hockey store that saves the nightmare drive to Anaheim. While their in-store selection is not as plentiful as the other guys, it seems they are constantly working on their storefront (I imagine most of their sales are done online). We stopped by this last Monday as the boy needed some new roller skates and some new sticks. They were very helpful, recommending something in our budget. They baked and fitted his skates and helped us select both a new ice and a new roller stick. They have built out the back area to display gear, which they never had before. It is nice to be able to go "shop" instead of having to shop online and just pick up. read more

Yelp is typically filled with disgruntled consumer reviews and I'm sorry this is the same....so, take it for what it's worth.. Hockeytron has the potential to be the local go-to hockey gear supplier and I hope that they get there. In November, I went to the Vista store to buy a stick. Tron is, of course, their brand and nearly all gear / sticks are branded as such. There were several CCM Vector sticks marked at $35 ------- I thought, jeez, that's incredible - I asked the (very nice) owner's daughter why these sticks were priced so low and she said that they wanted to clear the non-Tron inventory. I gave the stick a wrap on the carpeted floor and flexed it to the heel and it seemed solid. With the first touch of a puck, it was obvious that the blade was broken. I'd give Tron one star but feel that at $35 the buyer needs to beware. But come-on - a broken stick has zero value. Throw the crap away - don't put it in the rack. Other than that - huge facility - lots of gear - could be great. I'll give them another chance but will surely look more closely.. read more

This place scams their online customers by charging extra on their orders. When confronted, Hockeytron then stooped to denying they charged me extra, became belligerent with me. I had to get my credit card company involved who identified the overcharge immediately and refunded me. Employees, and the even the owner himself, don't have the skill to deal with logistics for online orders, even at the most basic level.This company has complaints against them filed everywhere. I don't know how the credit card companies allow these guys to do business online. Businesses with these type of practices don't usually last long. Other online reviews on different sites show that this place has charged other customers extra, swapped equipment in orders, and seem to have major issues when customers want their money refunded to the point of angering their customers enough to do negative online reviews all over the place. Maybe these guys are better in person, in store, but Hockeytron should not be allowed to operate online. read more
