He said they would be ready in a couple of days when he realized he had a little bit of free time and offered to speed-run them to get done within about 25 minutes. He was helpful, kind and awesome at his job. The guys at Monkey Sports are always great but this customer service was above and beyond. This was our second time visiting Monkey Sports, and both experiences have been great! The first time, we traded in and bought a new bat. The cashier was super personable and talked to us like real people - not just another "next in line." It was such a refreshing experience. Yesterday, we went back to get our daughter's glove (Wilson A2000) broken in. We had originally taken it to Dick's (since Irvine is a bit of a drive for us), but her glove was still so stiff she could barely keep the ball in it. We decided to give Monkey Sports a try - and wow, what a difference! Her glove now feels just like her old, well-loved one. The gentleman who helped us was knowledgeable, kind, and clearly knew his stuff. I didn't catch his name (tall, young-looking, glasses), but he was awesome. We dropped off her glove and when we picked it up, tried it on and was not 100% sure about it, so he took the glove and worked on it some more (we didn't ask him to do this...he could tell my daughter wasn't completely confident in how it closed and offered - which further shows that they really do care about customer satisfaction). He worked on her glove until she was happy with how it felt and worked. I'm so bummed I didn't get his name....but we know that in the future, we're going to find him behind that glove counter the next time she needs a glove worked on! Great spot for your hockey, lacrosse, and baseball needs. Personally I've only shopped the hockey so I can't speak for the other sports. I came in last week because my son had broken his stick and it was under the warranty. The employee pulled up my receipt by my phone number & my son couldn't find an exact replacement, so I paid the difference on the higher end stick. So thankful because I could not find the physical receipt! Gear, recreational knee hockey, replacement parts, tape, wax, laces, wheels, ice / roller skates...they've got it all. The selection of protective gear in all sizes is hung up neatly and easy to find. They're well staffed and I've never had an issue trying to find something as they're quick to offer assistance. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. A nice stop to take before / after going to the rink to enjoy the AC and a well kept bathroom. IYKYK. Another nice perk we experienced was the Bauer scanner which measured the pressure points in a standing scan & provides a suggested size of skates. My younger one really needed new ones! Both of my sons ordered custom True player skates ($1500 each) at the beginning of March. There was a three week turn around. On April 11, we called the store and they said they just received the order. My son went to pick the skates up and they were missing their blades and other items. My son mentioned it and they went into the back and came out with the missing items. My son wanted his skates baked and he had to do it by himself burning his hands. Once he got home he could not get the blades in either holder. We also tracked the orders and found the store had received the skates three weeks prior and never called us and lied about when they were received. We went back to the store and they confirmed the holders were bad. They offered us Bauer holders or the original True holder. My son picked the True holder because he ordered custom skates and not Frankenskates. It has been three weeks so far and we still do not have the skates back. The manager, Sean, claims they are waiting for a return label which could have been sent by email. Just more excuses. We keep getting emails stating we hope to have it resolved by Friday or this or that day. They could have ordered him a whole new pair by now. He is supposed to be playing in a tournament this weekend and cannot because he doesn't have his skates. They did offer him a loaner pair of skates but there is a reason he orders custom. Normal skates do not fit his feet right. This is unacceptable and I would not order anything custom from this store. This isn't the first time we have had issues with custom orders. Lesson learned. Beware because you will get nothing but false promises and be without your gear. At his point we want a refund to order somewhere else. read more

Just brought my son's baseball glove to have the web and fingers tightened on his SSK glove as it came loose at yesterday's practice and he has a tourney this coming weekend; most shops have a ~week turnaround but these guys did the tightening in ~5 minutes and didn't even charge me! Amazing service. Took care of my skate sharpening at no charge. Originally bought my skates here many years ago just for public skating. Now starting to play hockey in them, I wanted a more aggressive sharpening. To my surprise, the manager at the register just said, "you're good man", I was like whaaaat?!?. Take care of your customers, that's the way to do it! They forever have my business. On a side note: I was just at Pure Hockey a couple days ago. Great for buying hockey gear. But unfortunately the online pick up in stores service is by far the worst service in the store. I ordered online for store pick up so I can go in grab my stuff and head to the rink. 3hr after my order and still no email from them. Check the website and it's on processing status. So I just decided to drive up there anyways since it's on the way to the rink. Place was no busy at, hardly any customers and employees are talking among themselves. I mean more than 3hrs to pull an order..... Dick's sporting can pull an order within 1hr and they are way busier store. If only they sell high end hockey gear in stores. They would be my 1st option. We went to get my son his Lacrosse equipment. He is starting the sport for the first time. Brandon took the time to talk to my son and explain everything. He told us about the bundle pack that they have. He could have let us buy everything individually. We are thankful he did that. When he went to string his stick he asked what color lace he wanted and found one and also taped his stick with the same color tape. He also explained why he was taping in on certain spots. Customer service here is close to non existent. Went in with a friend to get him all new hockey gear about a year ago and not a single person offered help, maybe it was a fluke who knows. Went back in today to try and give it another shot since their selection is great and was ready to spend quite a bit of money. From the moment I walked in, not a single staff member acknowledged me or offered any kind of help. The employees seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than assisting customers. I was slightly disappointed by our experience here. Although they had a huge selection of hockey, baseball, and lacrosse gear, the customer service was lacking quite a bit. As soon as we arrived inside the store, we looked around and headed for the hockey section. Since it was out first time having to buy gear, we didn't know where to start. We stood around, waiting for someone to help us. One employee was busy taking care of another customer, while a couple of guys in the Stringing counter were talking. Finally, after 10 more minutes, an employee finally helped us. He helped answer our questions and concerns. After asking what size skate my son should be wearing, he showed him to the 3D foot scanner, and found him the right size. We perused some more and saw that they had a Slap Shot room to help you find your perfect stick using demo sticks they have in the room. It was pretty neat. Finally, we looked around for some helmets and saw one that we thought was perfect. When we went to pay, it apparently didn't have a cage, so we asked the cashier if there was a similar helmet with a cage. After looking on his computer, he said there was and told us it was in the same section, but didn't bother to direct us, because we could not find it anywhere. We ended up leaving without the helmet. Oh well, I'm hoping they improve in their customer service soon; otherwise, I'm using Pure Hockey for my hockey needs next time. read more

While at a roller hockey tournament in Irvine, CA we visited the Monkey Sports - Irvine. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and professional. Sean and Tyler helped me order custom skates for my son who has very large Navicular bones. When the skates arrived in Irvine, Sean called to stone pick up. I mentioned we were going to Dallas the coming weekend. Sean shipped our skates to the Monkey Sports - Allen. Upon arriving in Dallas ! called monkey sports - Allen and spoke with Miles. Miles said they had my skates. I stopped by the store, they mounted the roller chassis and heat molded them to my son's feet for a perfect fit. Spoke with Braden, who was working on a glove at the time, said it wouldn't be a problem and he can tighten the glove laces. When the glove was all done, it was like new! This is not a business that values their customers at all!!! Do not shop here if you don't have to. Especially for baseball, go to Dick's Sporting Goods (or baseball online stores) as they are friendly and will acknowledge you as you spend your money in their store. No one asked if I needed help so I flagged a worker down since we had no idea what we needed. He was not happy I needed assistance as he was very short with his answers and rude. I asked if I was bothering him with my questions, and he said "No, I am just hung over". He was young, I get it, but hell don't tell me that AND try to hide it! I was young once, been there, done that, but you need to not let it affect your job. Part 2- I came in on a Tuesday at 1pm to make an exchange and I was the ONLY customer in the store. Out of the 8 employees they had working NOT ONE asked if I needed help, NOT ONE!!! NOT ONE of the two men standing at the registers in the front said hello when I walked in or goodbye as I walked out, they were so involved in their conversation with each other. I was in the store with 8 employees all who were chatting it up and some were dancing and not ONE of the 8 employees said anything to me, nothing! I have never been in a store where not one employee had said anything to me. I am beyond upset with my experience especially after spending $800 on all new gear for my son. NEVER, EVER, again!
