My fiancé had the 1/2 rack of ribs with Mac n cheese and green beans and I had the pulled chicken with the same sides. We both liked the ribs and green beans but the chicken was really dry and the Mac n cheese could use some love. The service was friendly and very attentive! Topeka doesn't really have much of anything except some really good spots to eat that don't require a reservation or are expensive. This place is an excellent spot to get some lunch or dinner. I usually get the brisket & pork meal which comes with two sides. Brisket is tricky. I've had it here a few times and its been great every time. Brisket can easily be dry and chewy like beef jerky, ruining the meal. This place has the brisket riddle solved. I'm not sure what sauce they give me but its really tangy. Works great with the fries. With the meal you'll also get "texas toast". I've never had these before but I've become a big fan of em'. Lightly buttered toast with BBQ? What's better than that? They seem to have a crack drive thru brigade already (this place is less than a month old) because I've never spent more than a few minutes getting my order. read more

We don't go out to eat BBQ often because my husband makes it so well at home - which also means our bar of standard is set pretty high. This trip was unplanned and a fall back when we decided we were too chicken to go to a Chinese restaurant in town. (It was 7pm and the parking lot was almost vacant - but that's another story.) We arrived, and found parking quickly and easily, although they were bustling with business. We went in, and explored the not-too-big, not-too-small menu offerings and decided in short order. He got a sandwich, I got the rib snack. It was a very hot summer day and our appetites just weren't too big. We ordered (prices were reasonable) and our food was ready shortly after we got our drinks and sat down. It was kinda cramped, but nothing that bothered me too deeply. It's basically fast food, so I don't expect a five-star dining environment. What they have is absolutely perfectly adequate and works for the whole BBQ cowboy theme thing going on. Now, the food. I love ribs. It's the one thing we just don't do often at home because they are fairly expensive and take a really long time to do right. And these, these were done right. They were super duper tender - fall off the bone - and had a great flavor. The "rib snack" was absolutely plenty of food for a meal too. They came stacked on a bed of curly fries - way more than one needs in a meal - and I shared half with my hubby, since he didn't get anything with his sandwich. :( I will definitely be ordering this again, on the next visit. Came here today for the first time: GOOD STUFF!!!!! The pulled pork was moist, flavorful and just plain yummy. My side items were mashed potatoes and baked beans. I love Hog Wild. Growing up in Wichita it was my go to favorite spot for BBQ. Living in Topeka for this little bit of time I have definitely dropped the ball on going here more. Mostly due to a wife that doesn't eat meat. She will entertain me from time to time and eat sides. She also loves bbq sauce. Every trip I take to Hog Wild is a good one. Their sauce is one of my favorites. They offer tasty sides to go along with all of their great meats and sauces. read more

My family and I decided to try this place back in early February one Saturday night and see if it cut the mustard. Well, it kinda didn't. As far as BBQ goes, I thought it was medicore, at best. The only thing I really cared for was the sausage, and I thought it was a little on the expensive side. Everything else on my plate was just OK, it definitely did not "wow" me. Have been here several times in the past and have always had food that was good. Went on Sunday for lunch and was very disappointed in the food quality. I had the 2 meat dinner with brisket and ribs. Ribs were way over cooked and dry. I had forgotten that they pull their brisket, would rather have sliced but oh well. The brisket was also dry and and over cooked. I will most likely go again since I have had pretty good luck in the past but this visit was not good. Hopefully this was a one time problem. read more

We placed our order online and arrived at Hog Wild when the order was supposed to be ready. From their parking lot we called Hog Wild and requested "curbside" pickup as we were in our RV and couldn't pull up to the drive thru window. Order was promptly brought out and we were on our way. We ordered online and drove thru to pick up. When we got to where we were meeting family to eat we opened our boxes. My Husband had baked beans ( which he can't eat) instead of green beans. I was actually really apprehensive about this when I tried it for the first time. I was expecting typical, dry, chain restaurant BBQ. I was wrong. Their sandwiches and meats are very good. I have not personally tried the ribs. But, everyone I have eaten with that got them raved about them. The manager is very proud of his establishment and takes things very serious. He pops out to say hi to folks every once in awhile and is very nice with the kids. My wife and I loved Buffalo Bob's in Lawrence, KS. And her favorite sandwich was their turkey. Since they closed she was not able to find one she liked as much until she went to Hog Wild. Now she gets that every time. I love the two meat sandwich with spicy sausage. Their watermelon tea is awesome. I do not like sweet tea at all. But, I love it. My one weakness when it comes to flavored or sweetened tea. From a budget stand point you also get a good portion of food for your money. If that is important to you, then I do not think you will be disappointed. read more

Update after going back and trying the ribs. Moved from 3 to 4 stars based on ribs. Ribs were tender as was the brisket. My wife had the loaded tater with brisket. Tasty solid BBQ. Wasn't a fan of the Mac & cheese, but I am not a huge Mac&cheese fan to begin with. Previous review below Decent bbq. When we got home my wife's Carolina pulled pork sandwich was lacking the sauce and Cole slaw the menu said was supposed to be on it. Other than that was a decent meal. I ordered the brisket, pulled pork and hot links. Sides: slaw and macaroni and cheese. All for under $12....very reasonable. The food was delicious. Favorite was the brisket and I was pleasantly surprised by the Texas toast. All the meats were wonderful. Would come again the next time I'm in town. read more

I love good barbeque. I like their sandwich combos and sides especially. The flavor is good. The meat has that smokey flavor. The texture of the meat is tender and crispy. It tends to melt in your mouth. The restaurant is kind of boring inside. Id recommend a remodel. The food is a little bit more expensive for the amount of food you get. Welp, finally tried out Hog Wild today and can now give you the go ahead to go there and get some really good BBQ in Topeka. Id say they are now second to Lonnie Q's for BBQ here. I just got the Smokestack sandwich with fries. The sandwich had pulled pork and sausage on it. Both meats were very flavorful and tasty! Even the bun was better and noteworthy compared to others! The price was higher than most fast-food, but probably on par with normal BBQ places. I liked the environment of the place too. It was crowded and could have used more space between tables, but they have to do what they have to do to fit more people I guess. All in all though, Hog Wild is quite freaking good and like I said earlier, you now have my blessing to try them out! So GO. GO and get your tasty BBQ! read more
