Every year I'm here for live dungeons crab for my gumbo. They will kill and clean at no additional cost. Good selection of live and fresh seafood, plus cooking pantry essentials. Always friendly and helpful, good prices (considering). On street paid parking. There is a paid lot as well. I always go first thing in the am, no lines, I'm just in and out. Not the fanciest seafood spot but it's good, fresh, and clean. That's all I need.

My sister asked me to get Dungeness crab from here for Christmas dinner. I got 10 whole crabs for over $300. Unfortunately, the crabs were famished and real skinny with no meat on them. All of them were skinny. He just paid for mostly the water that were in sad.

    Whole box for under $200!

My new to go place for all my seafood needs! No odor, fresh and clean! And to mention exceptionally polite and super friendly and informative! All !!!!!!!!! For this joint. Oh and affordable!

7.99/lb....each crab was a little over 2 lbs.

Tired of going to the movies? Date nights are getting stale? Sick of being disappointed and overpaying at hyped up restaurants that don't live up to the hype? Well here's an idea, fellas.....how about cooking your special someone a LIVE CRAB or LOBSTER??? Okay, maybe she doesn't have to be special, just someone you're trying to sleep with. This will do the trick! She can also play with her dinner while you're prepping. Hoi Yeung Co is my go to spot when I'm in the mood to cook live seafood. There are several stores in Chinatown but this spot is my favorite because their prices tend to be SLIGHTLY CHEAPER. Also their Dunganese crabs tend to be bigger (bigger is better, right?). They also have a nice seafood counter (ie. scallops and oysters). Prices of the crab and lobster vary depending on market price but it's usually $7.99-$10.99 per pound. There's also a small paid lot ($2-3) half a block down the street if you can't find street parking. So fellas, jazz up date night, battle the madness at Chinatown and pick up some live seafood at Hoi Yeung Co and surprise that special someone (or some girl you're trying to sleep with) with a fresh, home cooked seafood meal!

Oysters, $3.99/lb or $45 for 60 oysters. Shucked them myself! So fresh!

Great customer service. The guy who I think was the owner/manager answered all my questions and was very patient with me. Came in here to buy dungeness ($7.99/lb) and oysters ($3.99/lb or $45 for 60 oysters). The crab was pretty much cut and dry (I want 4, came to around $60) but the oysters needed a bit of thinking as they had pacific oysters (which were large and have heavy thick shells) and wantinf about 3 dozen, it would cost the same or even more than the box of 60 oysters for $45. I asked the guy to weigh a dozen oysters so I had an idea how much three dozen would be ($17/dozen). He willingly obliged and took some oysters to weigh them. I ended up telling him I want them by weight rather than waste a lot of oysters by saving money and buying a box. He then went on to say that he will give me 30 oysters for $25. I was ecstatic! They packed my oysters in a plastic bag with ice to keep them fresh and off I went. They validate if you park in the lot beside the market. Went home and spent the whole afternoon shucking my oysters. They smelled and tasted like the ocean, salty, sweet and fresh. The crabs were so fat we had to dump rice in it to clean out the guts. Yummmy!!! Will come back here again.

Prices everywhere are going up so I wouldn't say this is the cheapest place to shop but for what you get it's not bad, and if you are looking to get a variety of what you need for Asian cooking this is a good spot for it. Service was quick and friendly at the register as this no frills and casual market. There is a parking garage behind the grocery as part of the mall but it can get crowded on weekends so if you're lucky you can find street parking but watch for street signs and some areas and streets are not in the best neighborhoods adjacent so be wary of your surroundings.

So I always try not to hold that against a place because food is obviously best when you eat it there fresh. That said, the pan fried noodles were easily my favorite thing we ordered. Those held up the best and still had good texture by the time we got home. The chicken was good flavor-wise, but there was definitely more bone than chicken, especially on the legs. One cool thing though: when my partner went in to grab the order, they watched them carving the chicken fresh before packing it up. You definitely don't get that kind of thing ordering through Uber Eats. The soy sauce chicken (not pictured) was also solid, and honestly this is a great spot if you want food that'll stretch into leftovers for days. We probably got at least four more meals out of everything. Still... it didn't fully scratch that Chinese restaurant itch for me the way SGV spots do. But for the area? Still a pretty good option.

I was excited to try the ice cream because they had a yuzu flavor that caught my eye. My 8-year-old and I stood patiently at the sample station for about three minutes, politely asking to try a couple of flavors. Unfortunately, the older woman working the booth completely ignored us while she focused on selling to another customer, even offering him multiple flavors he hadn't requested. During that time, I politely asked several times for the samples my son and I wanted to try, but we continued to be overlooked. The final straw was when another customer walked up and was helped immediately, despite us having been waiting there the entire time. I calmly told her that I had asked five times already. Instead of apologizing, she snapped, "There are customers!" I explained that I understood, but that I had been standing there patiently and had simply been overlooked. My son was standing right in front of her the entire time, so it's hard to understand how she kept ignoring us. She then rudely told me that I wasn't the only customer and that I needed to wait. At that point, I said it was okay--I didn't need the sample anymore and wouldn't be buying anything. Her response was, "That's okay. That's your loss!" I have reached out to Maeda-In's corporate office to let them know the experience. They were incredibly sweet and apologetic about this experience and kindly explained they didn't have a "demo" that day so she was a store employee. However, she did take down info and will be escalating to upper management to let them know that the store hired a lady that was rude to customers who are representing their product.
