My biggest fear wasn't necessarily the procedure itself, but the numbing beforehand (I have a phobia of not feeling pain, weird, I know). Dr. Patel was incredibly understanding and talked to me through the entire numbing process and procedure itself. He explained where he was numbing and why, and what areas it might affect. It was very calming. The procedure was so fast, and I felt nothing during it. I'm 32 now, and I've waited so long to have my wisdom teeth removed out of fear. I'm glad I just did it already. *ORIGINAL REVIEW (Which I don't want to change!) I've been coming to this office for almost 10 years now. Prior to that I dreaded going to the dentist but Caring Smiles is wonderful. The staff and doctor are super personable and really do invest in each patient as an individual. They are tech friendly with reminders, scheduling, billing, and have very nice, new equipment. I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 mins for room placement or to see the doctor. Since I've started coming I have recommended everyone that is in the market for a great dentist. Their office is conveniently located with tons of parking and has great ambiance. EQUIPMENT Modern and supposedly equipped with cutting edge services... like 3D printers and a panoramic scan x-ray to detect fractures like an endontist... but didnt experience any of these firsthand. EXPERIENCE Hygienist seem good but the dentist seems very into upselling non-insurance services and it was an meh experience overall... I got referred out for perio services and then called back for a cleaning... then told about not being in network for insurance next year... not sure if thats accurate but there are plenty of dentists with great ratings that take Cigna so... my journey continues along with a digital copy of my files and xrays. P.S. ZocDoc has a lot more research info and practioners than Google and Yelp where you can filter for in-network providers.

I've been coming to this office for years and always kept up with my six-month checkups. In January of last year, I was told I had two cavities-- one on my back right molar and one on the tooth in front of it. They only filled the tooth in front of the molar, even though I asked about both teeth. Now that back molar has progressed to the point where I need a root canal, which I'll have to pay for out of pocket. The dentist also told me I needed my wisdom tooth removed because it would interfere with the root canal. I wasn't convinced, so I got a second opinion from another dentist, who told me my wisdom tooth did not need to be removed. I also felt the price they quoted for the root canal was much higher than other offices I contacted. In addition, my sister had a root canal done at this office and continued to have severe pain afterward. She was later told by another dentist that the root canal had not been completed properly, and the tooth ultimately had to be extracted. A friend of mine had a very similar experience. After continuing to have pain following a root canal at this office, another dentist told him the root canal had not been fully completed, and he was also told the tooth now needs to be extracted. The previous owners provided much better care. Since the ownership changed, my family's experiences have been very disappointing. I would not return or recommend this office. After my family and multiple close people also had the same experience I think it's fair to say this dentist is a scam and all they care about is getting money. SAVE THE PAIN AND MONEY AND GO TO A DIFFERENT DENTIST!!! Update: They had the front desk lady Leslie write a fake review for the company. She explained what she was doing, made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and somehow managed to be both gentle and extremely detailed. One of the best cleanings I've ever had. Dr. Amante himself was outstanding. I had three very small fillings in my top and bottom molars, and the entire process was shockingly easy. No shots -- just a gel -- no pain at all, and he was in and out in about 10 minutes. His efficiency and confidence immediately put me at ease, and the work was flawless. What really sets Dr. Amante apart is his level of training and credentials. He is a MAGD (Master of the Academy of General Dentistry), which is a distinction earned by a very small percentage of dentists, and it shows in his precision, conservative approach, and overall care. You can tell he truly knows his craft. Between the professionalism, comfort, and exceptional skill of the entire team, this is easily one of the best dental experiences I've had. I have been a patient of Dr James Edmonds since 2001 when he was with another dental office downtown just a few blocks from my office. I had a bad experience with that dental office as a whole but found Dr Edmonds to be honest, ethical and not willing to follow the marching orders of a boss who was out to make money off of the county dental plan. The owner of the clinic wanted to do thousands of dollars of dental work that Dr Edmonds felt was unnecessary. At that moment, I knew I had found my new dentist. I was willing to follow him wherever he moved to! Flash forward a few years when Dr Edmonds left that practice and began working in Des Plaines. Despite not having any business or friends or relatives in the Des Plaines area, I continue to drive twice (sometimes more) yearly for my scheduled cleanings and routine dental care. I had a filling redone yesterday and it was a doozy. Despite a long time in the chair and tons of drilling, once the novocaine wore off, I had no pain of discomfort. Throughout the procedure, both Dr Edmonds and the dental tech, Rebeca, were courteous and sensitive to how I was doing, etc. From the staff to the decor to Dr Edmonds cheery disposition, I cannot say enough positive things about him and this dental facility. I highly recommend him to all my friends and to anyone needing a personable, quality and experienced dentist.
