This is the second time I have eaten at Hoki Poki as I found out about them when the COVID pandemic started. They do a great job at ensuring social distancing protocols are followed in their store and that everything is clean. But now onto the reason for reading, the food. The food here is hands down some of the best poke I've ever had. The staff is always very kind and they give sizable portions for their servings. The quality of everything is always really fresh and you can tell when you walk up to the service bar. They also offer a good selection of options to choose from. I crave this places poke in specific often but I have to restrain myself due to my college budget. If you are curious about trying this place out I definitely recommend it! My husband and I have been craving Poke recently and wanted to try ones that were nearby. This one is located on W Campbell right before Custer on the right hand side. We found the name "Hoki Poki" cute. The establishment is cozy with couple of tables/chairs. The Poke station at the front has many different items to choose from. It's very clean inside. The woman who made our Poke was very sweet, polite and kind. The Poke looked very appealing and appetizing(see picture/s). The presentation was definitely 5 stars. The only thing that my husband and I agreed was that the Poke was marinated in just a bit too much Korean spices. It's not necessarily a bad thing though. We had ours to go as the place was closing in 15 minutes or so. We come here for lunch often, like once a week. It is easy to order with great options for your bowl. Everyone here is sweet and they also have musubi. It's not the hawaiian kind fyi. I don't care for it but one of my coworkers gets one everytime. I love to order the regular bowl with salad, all salmon, crab and edamame, extra green onion, extra white onion, extra cucumber, avocado, and extra spicy mayo and eel sauce. Absolutely delicious! I wish the portions were bigger. Food: $11 for a scoop of corn, crabmeat, white rice, spinach, onions, sesame seeds, masago, sauce, and three (small) scoops of protein! When all the toppings are mixed together, the portion looks pretty good, but the rice portion is not even a full 5 spoonfuls. It is also very saucy, so it's not as healthy as poke should be. I got a large poki bowl and it looked a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The sauces are pretty good too, as I usually go for a sweeter kind rather than saltly. All the food is pretty fresh and the workers there are friendly. I got to sample 2 of the sauces before choosing. The only thing that bothered me is the amount of fish I got. For a large bowl, the amount is pretty small. The salmon pieces themselves are a little bigger than average but once I mixed everything together, its apparent that I didn't actually get that much salmon at all. I get how it's fresh and once supply runs out for the day it could be difficult getting more but it'd be nicer if each customer got a little bit more fish... On the plus side, I think I got half of a whole avocado for just a dollar as an add on. The amount of avocado was pretty impressive. read more

Really boosts the bowl but if you're extra like me, I just buy the poki to go and go home and add my own avocado to the bowl. Way cheaper! This will always be my go to and I love it everytime. They have your standard make-you-own-poke bowl, and they do a good job of it! The fish is decent, but not super fresh (although what else can you expect in Dallas?). I'm a big fan of their "sushi burrito" and their bowls are a good size! I like that they let you mix and match your rice/salad options. And they offer corn and crabmeat which are my favorite additions to any poke bowl! The workers are really nice! There are better poke places in Dallas, but this one is still decent. Poke places are slowly popping up in DFW. This is the third place I have tried. Same concept, you build your poke bowl at the counter. Choose between rice and baby spinach salad. I got a small bowl and got to pick 2 sides (seaweed salad and crab) and 3 scoops of protein ( 2 tuna and 1 salmon). Then you get unlimited toppings. They also have short ribs and chicken if you are not a fan of raw fish. My protein was tossed in some kind of sauce. I was just asked how spicy I wanted it and get to choose between 3 dressing. I forgot which two I got. Fish was fresh and flavors were there. I just wish they have the option of a green salad instead of only baby spinach salad. The restaurant was very clean and had plenty of seats. Owner was very friendly and nice to make suggestions if you didn't know what to get. This place was more reasonably priced compared to the other two poke places, maybe because it's close to the UTD campus. I would come back. Great Poke place! Love that it's family owned, service is great. First time I went- they had already sold out of their Spicy Braised Rib meat option (a unique and different option compared to other Poke places). So, of course I had to come back. If you're willing- try the salmon! It's delicious and fresh tasting. If you want chicken, then get cho' chicken, but know you're basic. The RIB is a piece of meat on a rib, so in other words, there is BONE. It tastes delicious but you'll need to use your hands to get ever piece off so not for those who mind a mess. Spicy Mayo and Eel sauce are delicious! I always get extra ginger and jalapeno's for a kick of flavor. Unfortunately their Ginger slices are cut large so might not be for everyone. They offer 3 different sizes, Mini, Regular and Large. The mini ($7) is perfectly portioned for 1 with two meat options. I've been very satisfied with the amount food in the regular ($9) except for that fact that it doesn't come in a bowl, with up to 3 meats. I want it in a bowl y'all. The large ($11) gets you up to FOUR meat options and in a pretty big bowl too (more than enough for 2 to 3 people). They also serve poke burritos ($8, 2 meats). Did I mention their boba teas, because they have them! The first time I went, the staff was super helpful and patient with me and my friends- walking us through the different steps. Came here for lunch after hearing my coworker rave about this place. Super clean restaurant and the staff is pretty friendly. You create your bowls or burritos up front and they are pretty generous with each topping. The fish selection is pretty much tuna and salmon. I got the mini bowl and that itself was plenty. The tuna and spicy tuna was pretty good. Tuna was a nice size and tasted fresh. My bowl was approximately $8 because I added avocado for $1 more but I think it's fair. Stopped here for lunch on Tuesday and I must say I love this place. Easy to get to and the best prices for POKE in DFW. If you love sushi then you will love this place. Plenty of options to choose from and they take their time mixing it by hand together for you. There is sometimes a line and only 2 or 3 people working but never a long wait at all. If you are looking to try some POKE or could eat it everyday like myself, I would recommend this place. Its worth the drive and delicious. You won't be disappointed in any way. The first thing that my cuz and I did after I landed was go here! My first time and it was pretty good! The venue was clean and cute. The food was pretty good. I wish there had been more selection fish wise. The one thing I did not love was that I had to mix everything. I prefer to have the rice at the bottom. When I walked into this place I was a little bit impressed because it was so clean. I've never had poke before so I was a bit hesitant. I ordered the large poke bowl with spicy tuna, chicken and the spicy beef rib with white and brown rice. The tuna and chicken were mixed in (I was shocked because I didn't know they would mix it together but I went with the flow). I got lots of cucumber, ginger, carrots, and other veggies and got a side of seaweed for an upcharge. That was the BEST thing I've ever tasted!!! It was amazing!!!! Honestly, I am always a fan of good ol poke. This was my first time here and the restaurant itself was clean and had plenty of seating. The staff was nice and explained anything about the menu that I was unsure about. The menu itself was pretty self-explanatory and listed every ingredient with every step. I got the poke regular bowl (which could honestly pass for a large at some places) because I felt like the mini would not fill me up but no complaint there. He explained that I could mix and match the base which is quite unique but I settled for all spinach salad. Moving on, I got 2 scoops of salmon and 1 scoop of tuna. The rest of the ingredients were adjusted to my liking. The fish pieces were cut rather thick so the scoop only really picks up 2-3 pieces which makes it look like not a lot, but I would rather have smaller pieces in my bowl to comfortably eat. I would say this place is one of the better low key poke places. The amount that they give in each order is worth what you're paying. There's also a decent amount of options and the items are all fresh. What I like about this place is that the larger size you get the more protein you are able to order too. For example a regular can pick 3 proteins and the large can pick 4. I like this because this way you know you are getting a larger quantity. Most poke places I know make you pick the same amount of protein but they just put more rice in your larger bowl. I also like how they have a mini bowl for the people that can't eat a lot and they still pack the bowl. This is also a good place to go with friends that don't like raw fish because they have some non-raw options.
