I've been to Cris & John since they were at the original location. I've tried a lot of dishes from them, while some were bad (such as bo la lot), there are still some that are pretty good. This time, I got the Phorrito and the Angry pho with brisket, along with a horchata. The horchata was delicious and refreshing, it had a lot of cinnamon flavor but I wish the drink could be more creamy. The phorrito was great and I love the broth they gave on the side. I think it's a bit more concentrated than the regular broth they use for pho. The pho itself was good, it's not your traditional Viet pho you get outside, it's more of a fusion pho where the broth isn't clear at all. If you're coming here for the first time, I would recommend trying out the platters so that you could try out more food all at once! read more

I walked in to Chris and John with 3 other family members. The system is simple and casual. They have their menu on the wall above thr register and you can take your time until you're ready to order. The line moved pretty quick the thursday I went. After reviewing their very diverse menu options I landed at. The Angry Pho Birria Platter which I shared with my sister. The Birria was very flavorful. The Tacos were my favorite. Personally I felt the sweetness of the bao buns conflicted with the savory profile of the Birria. The wings and Pho were great too but by the time I got to the Pho I was Birria'd out. The ambiance was nice and casual with many parties chatting and enjoying their time. Staff checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. The only thing I will note is that they started putting chairs on tables about ten minutes before their closing time. I guess every place has their own rules, and we had no intentions of keeping them past their closing time, but it did feel as though we were being rushed out. Met up with some friends and was looking forward to trying something different. When I pulled up I was happy to see that they have a private parking lot with plenty of parking space. As I walked up I noticed that they have outside seating available (although with the pollen, today that wasn't even an option for me). As I got inside there was a nice little crowd and there was some confusion as to if we sit and order or order and sit however I caught the sign which let us know we order and sit and they bring the food to you. They have a lot of things on the menu to choose from and they even have platters which can feed multiple people. I went with the egg rolls, the potstickers, and the rice plate adding beef belly. The guy tried to talk me into the saltado de carne however I didn't want the fries, so I went with what I ordered. I also got a peach lychee drink. Found a seat and the food came quickly! The egg rolls were my least favorite as it lacked flavor for me. I love potstickers (Mandu), these were okay, however once I was looking for something besides soy sauce to dip them in. The saltado de carne reminded me of bulgogi however has some tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers on the side. The rice was a little dry for me. My friend liked the peach lychee. I had been wanting to come here for so long and i finally made it! I was worried there would be a long wait but there was not at all. We got there at 5:30 pm on Tuesday. You order your food up front then go sit down and they bring everything out to you. I didn't love having to order upfront and then sit down and that's mostly because the decision was really hard on what to order cause everything sounded and looked amazing. I will say the food all came out really quickly and they were really good about finding where all the food went. We ordered a bunch of different plate plates at my table and everything was so good. I ordered the Elote, sweet chili wings, and ginger chicken tostadas, as well as the vanilla cookie Matcha. I took home a lot of leftovers and everything reheated great. Awesome idea! Me and my mom can here to have lunch and it did not disappoint. We got the burrito platter to share which came with the pho burrito, in my opinion the best thing on the platter. I saw the great reviews and enticing photos and had to check it out. We walked in and there was a line to the door, where a sign let us know what to expect. There is no need to find a table in advance, one is provided at the cash register. There are menus on the wall, on the counter, and Yelp. The photos definitely do the menu items justice. The restaurant is bright, colorful, and has a very festive decor, like being at a party in the streets. The music was very upbeat. As for the food, we came on a Friday night after 6:30 pm. It took about 15 minutes to order, and another 45 to receive our food. We did notice some tables around us getting their food sooner, which might have been based on what was ready when they ordered. The chef sent out an order of Kimchi fries on the house for our patience, and they were delicious! My kids had the chicken nuggets and fries with specialty drinks. They loved their meal and drinks. My husband and I enjoyed the chicken and fish spring rolls, fishin' good, southern soul, and bo la lot skewers. The sauce with the skewers was delicious. The southern soul was wrapped in a soft bao bun, the chicken was seasoned well and crispy with sweet and tangy bit of spice. The fishin' good was a light flaky fish with crispy coating wrapped in lettuce, good stuff. The spring rolls were large and came with a tasty peanut sauce. I also enjoyed an aguas fresca- Jamaica. I have heard about this place, and when they moved closer to me I knew I had to try them. Today was they day, and I was in a hurry so I got it to go. I wanted a vegetarian option and the girl waiting on me suggested an option that I don't even know what it was. It was a fried sandwich with tofu with the chili option - I remember that part. This was one of the best restaurants I've been to - period. Mexican/Vietnamese fusion is not cuisine you commonly get in most other cities (I'd certainly not heard of any other place that had it) - but the fusion and combo were incredible. The flavors were so well-integrated and really showcases the best of fusion. If anyone is in the DFW area, this would be my go-to recommendation. I tried the phoritto (pho burrito) and the barria/pho fusion and I'd highly recommend. It combines the best elements of the Mexican and Vietnamese cuisines they're showcasing, creating a delicious, satisfying meal that has the perfectly flavoring and texture. The phoritto especially was perfect: I was slightly nervous that rice noodles might be a bit too much, but it was actually the perfect amount. They pack a lot of meat into the burrito itself - so you're getting a perfect ratio of meat. The drinks are also excellent - and the service wonderful. It has a very casual vibe - you order up front and then wait for your food at a seat. It gets pretty packed - even not at peak hours, but the line moves fairly quickly and it's well worth the wait IMO. Despite the large crowd inside and the line to order we were able to still get a seat and get our food pretty quickly! My husband got the Photitto with short rib and I got the Birria Tacos. We also tried the Southern Soul Bao Bun and the thai tea with taro. All of the food was delicious and full of flavor! Ironically I liked his meal better while he enjoyed mine better! The Thai tea was creamy and perfect after the spices of the pho broth that is served along side both meals! You couldn't really taste the taro but the thai tea was great! Finally tired the new location. The inside is super cool very charming decor. The line was long but I think they did a pretty good job of managing it as efficiently as possible. I got the Ramenrrito and tried the basic chick bahn mi. The burrito was good but the meat was a little tough and it definitely needed the table sauces added for flavor. The bahn mi was good but the bread was toasted which we weren't expecting- they should give you the option to ask for it untoasted since I am used to softer bread for bahn mi. Their appetizers and side dishes are quite tasty. The "BO LA LOT SKEWERS" is probably one of the best I've had in DFW. Their Wings are pretty good too. HOWEVER, their main entrees are simply not good. We ordered the PHO and RAMENRRITO. Both were not up to par. The Pho broth (which is also the Ramenrrito dipping broth) was kind of bland. The Ramenrrito itself was "off"... perhaps the noodles and flour tortilla are not a good combination, too much carbs (needed more protein inside) and perhaps some sort of sauce. Visited their new location today for lunch around 11am. There were already people lining up which is always a good sign. We were handed a menu while waiting outside for them to open and the line went by quick. The way you order is that you order at the counter and they will let you know what table to sit at. This way they can ensure that everybody who orders has a seat similar to how they did it at their old location. My friend and I ordered the birria tacos since those are our favorite thing here. This food is just as good as the old location. I noticed that their menu has expanded a bit in this new location like their peach lychee tea. I enjoyed my peach lychee tea but wish there was a way to adjust the sugar level because it ended up being pretty sweet. I also noticed that they have actual plates now instead of those metal trays which adds a nice touch to the ambiance of the new place! I am so glad they moved to a new location. I love Cris and John but every time I went to their old location it would be difficult to find parking during lunch if I went later than 11:30.
