My best friend in Food Vince took me here recently because I was craving Ramen, Its a nice small place in a strip mall. Service was good, very attentive. We started with a plate of excellent Gyoza, the skins were thin and delicate and perfectly fried. We also got even better Chicken Karaage that were crispy and tender and wonderful. On to the important stuff; I got the Spicy Miso Ramen and Vince had the Spicy Ramen with Extra noodle. The Extra noodles were so large, we ended up spliting it. Both excellent, I would not change a thing, great heat, great tempature wonderful toppings. The noodles had excellent texture and and they give you a good portion. With so may new places to try and really wanmt to get back here soon.

This is one of our favorite ramen places in the burbs. It's a smaller unassuming ramen restaurant in a small strip mall. Not a lot to say about the ambiance, but it's all about the food and service. We've been here too many times to count at this point, after just under a year of coming here almost once a week for a few months straight! We love the service, there are a few waiters we see all the time and have given us great service from our first visit. A few months ago they installed a new "order online table side" process which works seamlessly. However, if you don't want to do that, the servers will take your order the normal way. We've tried a lot of items on the menu, but our go to order is always gyoza, sesame balls, curry chicken rice bowl and a ramen order. I've never ordered anything I didn't like! They also have bobba drinks, which are pretty good, we've all had sub par bobba with not fresh tapioca, etc. Their bobba is pretty good. We'll continue to dine here as long as we can. Love the food and the service.

Delicious ramen for your soul. I drank every last drop of soup for my spicy ramen. The noodles were perfectly chewy and springy, and the chasu wasn't too salty or fatty which I appreciated. The egg was jammy and went amazing with the noodles. I would say this is one of the best ramen places out in the suburbs. My fiancé got the spicy beef ramen and the broth was lighter but also amazing. I reminded me of pho broth if it were fused with ramen shoyu broth. The giant beef bone had tender meat that was a bit messy to eat though. Everything was reasonably priced at around $17 per bowl of ramen. I would definitely come back here whenever I have a ramen craving. They have a lot of variety here, from chicken ramen, to tonkatsu ramen to tan tan mian. I will for sure have to try more of their menu to see if the other ramens are also amazing. In terms of appetizers, we got the chicken karage and it was decent. The chicken was tender and the batter wasn't too salty or oily. We enjoyed the two varieties of dipping sauces for the chicken. Service was super prompt and friendly. They're very chill here and let you sit wherever you want. There's plenty of parking spaces around the strip mall area. I highly recommend giving them a try!

Taro milk tea with coconut jelly was super sweet and tasty, loved it. The chicken rich ramen was good- broth was rich and savory and the jammy egg was amazing. The chicken needed a little seasoning. The chicken katsu was super crispy and tasty and the noodles had good texture. Service was amazing, attentive but not intrusive and very friendly.

This was good ramen for the burbs. It was a bit of a drive to the Hoffman Estates location. However, we were able to get seated with no wait. If you check in via Yelp, you can get a free appetizer of crab rangoon. We also ordered chicken karaage, tonkotsu shoyu ramen, and black garlic tonkotsu ramen. Food came out surprisingly fast. The staff was good at taking away the empty plates and bowls. Chicken karaage was good. Chicken was juicy, crispy, and cut in good size bite pieces. Crab rangoon was okay, I mostly tasted the cream cheese, I felt like there wasn't much imitation crab meat in there. Tonkotsu shoyu ramen was delicious. I enjoyed sipping the rich, flavorful pork broth. Pork meat was nice and tender. It broke apart easily. Noodles were chewy and good. It's a tasty ramen for the cold weather. Black garlic tonkotsu ramen, I liked the broth more than the shoyu. I found it addictingly savory and had a longer lasting impression on me. Prices were reasonable. Sufficient parking.

Open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! 11am until 9pm We had a craving for Ramen. It is 2pm so we are having a late lunch. We received a free Crab Rangoon appetizer Yelp coupon the last time we dined here. We redeemed it today. The outside of the Crab Rangoon is perfectly fried... flaky and crispy and the middle was so creamy and pleasantly warm! It was the perfect flavor and texture! Definitely the best Crab Rangoon we have had in a very long time! My husband ordered the Miso Ramen the broth looks nice and creamy and the pork on top looks like bacon! So so yummy! I ordered the Shoyu Ramen it has a clear soy sauce type of broth. The flavor is outstanding! The restaurant is very clean and there is music playing lightly in the background. The window shades were closed but there was still plenty of light shining in without blinding us which we loved. Our waiter was so nice and polite, we drank water and he kept checking in on us and refilled my husbands water at least twice. Which made my husband so happy. If you like Ramen and have not tried dining here yet, I recommend giving it a try! They have lots of other delicious looking items on the menu too! I love that there are pictures of the food on the menu!

Hokkaido Ramen House is located right off of Barrington Road, in a small strip mall area, next to the Toothery, with plenty of parking. Inside is a small-medium size dining area. We ordered: - Crab Rangoon -- order came with 5. Creamy cream cheese, with small bits of imitation crab... it's what you normally expect from crab Rangoons. The crunch of it was good. - Takoyaki Octopus appetizer -- octopus dumplings... these were OK. - Calamari -- pretty good. Nice crunch, nice proportion of rings vs tentacles - Garlic tonkatsu ramen -- which was fantastic! It had a rich creamy pork bone broth, semi hard-boiled egg, and two generous-sized slabs of delicious pork belly. Our server was really nice... he is actually the son of the owner. Talkative, friendly, and our food came in a timely manner. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the back, the bathroom was decent. Sink and everything was in working order. Sit or squat? Squat.

The Hokkaido Ramen House is in a small strip mall, parking is easy. The restaurant was quiet but it was the middle of the afternoon. The boba Galaxy Tea got a big thunbs up from my tween who had recently become pretty opinionated about her drinks. The appetizers we ordered came out quickly. The volcanic tamago, i guess I didn't know what to expect it was like a hard boiled egg with crispness and flavor. The octopus also was pretty good as well. The pork cutlet Tonkotsu was juicy, the ramen noodles were good. The pork in the black garlic ramen was more like bacon, so it wasn't what I expected. I wasn't a fan of it and have it to my husband. However he liked it a lot. We were in and out quickly, so taking into account the family opinions in my review pretty good overall!

    Tantanmen

This place is fantastic. We came here once after randomly finding it on Yelp, and 6 months later we're back again because we couldn't stop talking about coming back to enjoy it again. Both times we came, I had the Tantanmen and my wife had the spicy ramen. Both super great. I love the ginger in the base of the Tantanmen, it gives it a huge depth of flavor, along with the house made bone broth, and just the right amount of spice (and they do put curry paste on the edge of the bowl if you want more spice, a nice touch that's functional and also looks cool). The amount of meat they give you a very solid portion. Some ramen places skimp on the meat but it's not so here. I'm no ramen aficionado, but this is my all time favorite ramen so far. Haven't tried anything else on the menu or their drinks, but they do offer lots of other options such as curry if you're not in the mood for ramen. Atmosphere is nothing crazy, but nice and modern with relaxing lofi music as the soundtrack. Small-ish place but they made good use of it for lots of seating. Staff is all super nice too. Would definitely recommend!

I never knew this "Hokkaido Ramen House"as ramen chain. I asked if this gyoza is frozen and yes this was made exclusively for the chain and frozen. Taste light and need more spices and flavors I'd say it's soso and frozen but it was most of all undercooked. Color was too light and fried gyoza need to be more brown. Ramen I chose was Shoyu which I always take for the first time to check their capabilities and was so good. The noodles were just Al dente and how it should be. Soup was good as well. Charsiu pork was a little too sweet. Next time I'll bring my own beer since they don't serve any alcohol here if it's allowed. I will ask for my gyoza cook right and try other ramen choice.

This is probably one of the best in the burbs! We had the Spicy Ramen and the #2 (the one with the beef ribs and brisket)...So good! i love the flavourful ribs from #2, and the broth and chau siu from that spicy ramen! Probably the best ramen chau siu I had in the burbs! I wish they combine these into a new ramen bowl option on the menu! LOL The noodles is the typical one, but cooked al dente! Imo, everything together, it's better than that rapidly expanding suburban ramen chain...

    NEW* Japanese Fried Tofu
    Vivian H.

I am really picky with my ramen and this place hit good points for the flavor. Ambiance lacks a certain amount of coziness and is pretty dim on the inside with mostly black interior design. However theres plenty of divided seating options to seat 4 or more. Waiters are friendly, food was fast to come out. Food: 4/5 Japanese Fried Tofu: semi firm crunchy tofu topped with lots of eel sauce and nori toppings. Came piping hot and super fresh. It tastes good but wouldn't exactly blow my mind. 5/5 Black Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen: Pleasantly surprised by the deep flavor in the broth. Lots of ramen places usually have diluted flavors but this was rich and creamy. Ramen egg was good, a tad hint of sweetness in the marination. Chashu has the taste and texture like a combination of glazed bacon. Theyre thinly sliced and deeply marinated and packed with flavor. Overall totally recommend the ramen here, I got to try my partners ramen, he ordered a #2 and was equally delicious with a unique deep broth base.

It's pretty much a self-serve food-court-like operation here except the setting is that of a comfortable regular sit-down restaurant.  He had complimentary self-serve iced tea for the customers.  He also had nice, contemporary American pop music on.  We were there with one other patron family, and had a short wait for the food prep, but I did wonder how Mr. Kim might keep up if a crowd hit, but he's managed this well-rated place for 10 years, so he must have a way! Overall, I'll go with 4.49 stars rounded down to 4 for our pleasant outing, mainly as the content of the servings were more like 4 star values but served in a nice and calm sit-down restaurant setting.  Thanks, and continued good luck Mr. Kim!

Well- let's just say he wasn't too warm or welcoming and could barely grunt a greeting. Hmm. We were quickly seated in a very japanese-looking restaurant (a good sign). We ordered two apps - the chicken karaage and the agedashi tofu. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu pork ramen (not on their web menu, but still...). First demerit- my ramen arrived before the apps did. Seriously. Seriously? Me with a main dish and my hubby/friends bereft of food? Oh wow. I didn't touch it until the apps arrived a couple minutes later - finally their mains arrived. Yay. The apps? Well, the chicken karaage was really fried chicken breast meat (no bones; not a prob for me, but hubby - a japanese man by birth- was not impressed). The agedashi tofu was yummy and quite good. Nice! Ok- my ramen was - yes- spicy and oily, as any good ramen should be. The bad part? I could tell the bean sprouts weren't fresh as my sensitive digestive tract let me know - fast- that the sprouts were "not" fresh. Yikes. Not a good thing - hence the demerit. Ok- first- we may come again. But gosh. the workers really need to be a bit happier to be there- or - if they can't be pleasant - keep them out of the public's eye. That would be a big help- after all, this was our first visit- and it wasn't too welcoming - it would have offset the bad sprouts, you know?
