Solid spot if you're looking for Thai food in the Palatine area. To me, most of the Thai restaurants in the area are very similar in terms of menu and food quality (through Gumrai Thai feels like it has a minor Chinese inspiration). Smile is be a good choice if you're near the Harper College area, looking for a less busy Thai restaurant, or looking for a spot that's a little more value oriented -- though most of the Thai restaurants or pan-Asian restaurants that serve Thai area are pretty reasonably priced. I tried a variety of items on this visit, and found each to be solid. The pad thai had a fairly good noodle texture with a good balance of sweet and savory. This was overall fairly balanced with a good amount of egg, though I would've preferred a bit more peanut and green onion in the dish. The sweet and sour delight was pretty similar in crispiness and construction to the version I tried at Thai Buri. I was pleased with the crispiness of the batter and liked the generous amount of meat provided. It was also nice to have a generous amount of pepper to soak up the sauce. The panang curry was also fairly well balanced with just the right amount of sweet and savory. It had a good creaminess to it though I felt the basil was a bit muted. The mango mousse cake was a nice way to end the meal with a good creamy texture and delicious mango flavor. Overall, another good Thai option in the suburbs. It's fairly easy to park here and service is friendly. It's also conveniently located near a bubble tea shop if you need to hangout and chat more after your meal.

The new additional menus are truly fantastic! Usually, if I crave authentic Isaan (North East Thailand) food, I'd have to make a trip all the way to Chicago, but now I can enjoy it right here. As someone from Thailand who loves Isaan cuisine, I'm so happy to see these menus at Smile Thai. The owner mentioned that the chef is from this region, so you can be confident you'll get genuine flavors. She also mentioned she'll be updating the online menus soon, but you can ask them directly--they're already available. I highly recommend trying the Som Tum (Papaya Salad), Wunsen Salad, Pork Nam Tok, and Yum Beef. It's such a treat to have these delicious options nearby!

Didn't get pics of the food, but we enjoyed every bite. Friendly quick service. Clean restaurant. If ever in the area again, we will stop back in and try something new.

My husband and I went to the newly opened Smile Thai And Asian Kitchen based on the recommendation of a friend. The decor is inviting and so was the manager. We had the orange chicken and the shrimp pad Thai. I loved the taste of the sauce and the abundant vegetables in the orange chicken. It was sweet without being too sweet. I judge Thai restaurants by their pad Thai. This dish passed the test. Classic and traditional but it was done well. We had the mango mouse cake for dessert. This was amazing. By far the best mango cake I've ever had (and after marrying into an Asian family I've had plenty). Give Smile Thai And Asian Kitchen a try, I highly recommend it!

Had a tire blowout on my way to pick up my wife for a lunch date. Fix the tire went into a parking lot. Realize that our plan wasn't going to happen because of my replacing my tire tires. Went into the small Thai restaurant that we saw I'm glad we did. Friendly face, amazing food. Will definitely come back for more.

My wife and I have been in the suburbs for many years and I always wanted to try the Thai restaurant in this strip mall but never did. Aimlessly going through Yelp, I came across a new Thai restaurant called Smile Thai. Turns out this new restaurant is in the same location as the previous restaurant I wanted to try but the food looked much better. During our usual dinner debate, my wife brought up Thai food. Smile Thai immediately came to mind and away we went. Cozy and clean interior with nice decor. The woman helping us was very nice and attentive. We stuck with our usual order to see how the food sized up. Trio platter sampler, chicken Thai fried rice, chicken pad see ew, smile crispy chicken, and my wife had a mango lemonade. The platter was good, standard I would say. I'm not a rice fan but the fried rice was good as was the pad see ew. The smile crispy chicken was really good and crispy. I don't like lemonade but the mango lemonade was actually really good. I'd definitely try the mango green tea next time. Given the first experience, taste and quality of food, and how dangerously close this restaurant is I look forward to trying the entire menu. I'm a soup fiend so my next try is the bbq pork wonton soup. Thanks for reading.

Just tried Smile Thai for the first time with a pickup order and I was very happy with my experience. I love seeing new Thai options in the suburbs and this place did not disappoint. The Pad Thai was delicious and the mixed fruit lemonades were exactly what I needed on a hot day after work. This place is located in a great little area with a lot of parking and the owners were so sweet when I stopped by ^^ The interior was also lovely, I'll be sure to stop by again and try more dishes!!

We tried a mix across the menu, and what stood out right away was how many dishes can be made vegan, which makes it a great option for vegetarians or mixed groups. A few must-tries for me: * The Thai wrap -- DIY style and easily one of the more fun dishes on the menu * Red curry * Curry fried rice * Basil dish The papaya salad was also really well done and worth ordering. Portions here are generous -- most mains are easily enough for two people, so it works really well if you're sharing across the table. For the amount of food you're getting, pricing felt very reasonable (around $20-30 per person when sharing), which makes it a strong value spot in the suburbs. It's also on Resy, so if you have an Amex Platinum or Gold card, you can use your dining credit here. Overall, a solid pick if you're looking for flavorful Thai food with good portions and plenty of vegetarian-friendly options in the Arlington Heights area.

The Din Tai Fung of Illinois is finally here!…read more My family and I have been chasing the high of Din Tai Fung's soup dumplings for years, but there has always seemed to be an absence of restaurants like this in the Midwest. Thankfully, Phat Phat stepped in to fill that gap. We drove 30 miles for a late lunch around 2:30 p.m. to hopefully beat the crowds. There's a huge parking lot in the back, the building itself is incredibly unique, and the interior is absolutely beautiful. It feels modern while still being warm and inviting. We wanted to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered two baskets of the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, the Enoki Mushroom appetizer, Chicken Fried Rice, Phat Phat Chicken, Nasi Campur, and finished the meal with the Mango Sago. Everything was incredible. The soup dumplings definitely filled the void that Din Tai Fung left behind. Every dish was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and served piping hot. The Mango Sago was the perfect palate cleanser and a refreshing way to end the meal on a hot summer day. The standout for me was the Enoki Mushroom appetizer. That will be a must-order every time we come back. We also have Indonesian family and have visited Bali, so we were excited to try the Nasi Campur. It was spot on. The satay is another must-order in my opinion. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and the rest of the staff were just as welcoming and pleasant. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and we'll absolutely be back.

I have tried the filet mignon hot rock in the past and it is a fun app to try, at least once. Our only complaint is the walk (Or elevator ride) upstairs to the restrooms. Menus arrived as we were seated, water arrived shortly after, but no greeting, no server, nothing. Another couple came in after us, got seated, greeted, ordered, and were eating while we still sat completely unacknowledged. After 15 minutes we told the host we were giving up. She looked surprised we hadn't been helped, even though our table was less than 15 feet from the host stand and directly in her line of sight. Most of the time she was lingering near the bar chatting with other employees. No apology -- just 'I'll get a manager.' Several minutes later the manager arrived. We explained what happened, but again no apology, no offer to fix it, no 'please stay, we'll take care of you.' Just 'that shouldn't have happened' and she'd talk to her staff. That's the corporate version of shrugging. We'd trekked a long way from the city only to be let down by basic service not happening at all. This is the kind of failure people don't expect from a group as large and well‑trained as Lettuce, and at this point I'm wondering if I should lower my expectations.

To clear things up about their dining area, they have 2 small tables outside and 1 small and 2 big tables inside. Small tables - 2 chairs. Big tables - 4 chairs. On weekdays, you don't need to make a reservation. On the weekends due to their limited dine in area, I would recommend a reservation to be safe. You can make a reservation through Google/Yelp or phone call. Parking is easy since it's in a strip mall. There is also a 3% charge if you use plastic. Just a note, I tried looking at their food pictures on their website, but it kind of runs slow. Sometimes it would freeze. I think they need to fix it. I would return here to try other items. I would highly recommend ordering off their Malaysian menu instead of the miscellaneous. Don't order orange chicken or General Tao's chicken. Very cringe because you can get that literally anywhere. Get the Malaysian food because it's hard to find in Illinois. The owner is very sweet and the service is attentive. We ordered lor bak, nasi lemak, Hainanese chicken rice, hokkien mee, and kuih talam. Just a FYI, the portions are very generous. For 2 people, I would recommend ordering 2 dishes. Prices are reasonable for what you get. A pot of tea is $6. -lor bak 5 - I highly recommend this appetizer. It has crispy pork sausage with shrimp fritters, beancurd, and cucumber. It comes with two sauces. Everything was delicious. -nasi lemak 5 - I love the chicken rendang. The meat is very tender and it has a deep flavor. You can taste the spices that went into it. -Hainanese chicken rice 3.5 - I gave Penang Malaysian Cuisine a 4 because the rice was delicious. HD's version, the rice was not as moist and flavorful. The chicken was not bad, it's about the same as Penang's. It could be a bit more succulent without the sauces. -hokkien mee 4 - this won't be as tasty as in Malaysia. I liked the big pieces of shrimp, an adequate amount of sliced pork and hard boiled egg. The broth is still very good. If it's your first time having this, I still recommend it. -kuih talam 5 - I would suggest this if you like pandan. It's not sweet. It has a soft and bouncy texture.
