I was driving by and saw this place. I decided to stop in. I'm glad I did. Cute decor, good customer service. The Ramen is great. Try this place if you like Ramen

Such a cozy ramen spot. The ramen is authentic, the broth is thick so just be aware. It was delicious and definitely looking forward to coming back. The gyzo was crispy and the dipping sauce was yummy.

This was my first time at Chicago Ramen Annex and I was pleasantly surprised by the food, service, and atmosphere. My friend suggested this place because she heard good things about it. FOOD: We started with the chicken karaage and it was delicious. The chicken was tender and fried to perfection. It wasn't oily so that was definitely a plus. I ordered the Spicy White Miso Ramen with Sweet Corn and added an egg and seaweed. The ramen was very flavorful and filling. I didn't find it salty at all. The pork char-shu was what made the ramen even better. It was a fat piece of char-shu which is what I prefer. Chicago Ramen Annex is not my favorite ramen place but I did enjoy my experience there. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Was quiet for a Saturday afternoon lunch. They have a lot of ramen options to choose from. Not my favorite ramen spot but it was tasty ramen and a decent size. Definitely enough for 2 meals if eating it for lunch and you are not starving. Not sure that adding an egg should cost an extra $3 but other than that reasonable prices. I didn't think the ramen was that spicy and wish they had more seaweed inside to build a traditional flavor. It was nice for a cold afternoon but I wanted a bit more flavors on the toppings. Maybe some jalapeños and mushrooms would have made it taste more social. I do also think they should have better chopsticks that aren't the wooden kind as it takes away from the ramen experience and I don't like the woody flavor of non plastic chopsticks. Service was good as they same to check in on us a few times if we needed anything additional etc... they have tables and booths and you can get seated pretty quickly as it was not too busy. Parking is also easy as it's inside a small shopping complex.

We ordered Ramen and instead of pork we wanted beef instead, our server said switching to beef is more expensive and we said no problem we will pay for it and then she said oh i could not switch the order. Okay i don't really get what she means but I let it slide. I didn't like what she said but it is okay. Then we asked for water with ice but she said they have no ice because their ice machine is not working. We ordered calamari and tempura for appetizers, tempura is good but the calamari is a little bit salty. Ramen is good

The ambiance was nice, the service was quick since it was pretty empty, but I think the food could have been better. I decided to stop in because I wanted to try tsukemen, but it seemed more like ramen with the broth on the side. The noodles felt like they could have been cooked longer, but if I just got a regular bowl of ramen, they probably would have been perfect from the broth. I ended up just pouring all the broth over the noodles anyway. I'll give them another try for just ramen but not sure the tsukemen is the experience you're supposed to have.

I had high expectations for this place but it just wasn't good in the end. Service: 2 - server was nice but there was a language gap, she didn't seem to understand what we were asking for. The little yogurt they give the kids are a nice gesture. Cleanliness: 5 clean tidy restaurant Food: 2 - ramen was so salty and the broth so thick it was like eating sauce and noodles. I didn't continue to eat it and didn't bother asking the waitress because she messed up the appetizer and didn't really know what to do to fix it. Sadly, we won't return bc the food wasn't good at this location. I had gone to the Chicago Ramen in Mt Prospect/Des Plaines and it was a good experience there with the food. Not sure how this place fell short.

One night in the Chicago area. Where to get dinner? We decided to try the Chicago Ramen Annex. This one is located in Schaumburg. It looked kind of good. The prices were good, cheaper than California. It was one of the meals that my wife wanted as takeout. We ordered 2 of their Jiro ramen. The Jiro ramen came with thick noodles in a tonkotsu broth. The thick flat noodles reminded me of the thick yellow egg noodles found in Cantonese restaurants. I thought it was okay, but, my wife hated their ramen. Service was okay. I'd give them another chance, but, I'm not sure if my wife will.

Went during Memorial Day at around 4:15pm and I was surprised at how busy it was. There's around 8 tables and every table was seated except one- it is quite a small restaurant. There was also only one server so the service was a little slow but understandable. I thought the ramen was a little pricey but it was good! I like how there's a book that helps you choose the ramen you want based on how thick you like your broth. I like a lighter brother so I opted for the chicken ramen and it was great! My mom got the spicy white miso ramen and said it was a little salty. The best dish was the chicken karaage!

Our leftovers... you can see the thickness of the broth with sandy texture.

I ordered a spicy red miso ramen. It was salty. The texture of the broth was sandy. In my opinion it's too thick almost egg-drop-soup-like. It wasn't a satisfying slurp. My egg was also overcooked. The noodles were too wide like fettuccine. On top of that, they ran out of chicken karaage 1 hr into the open. How can you run out of chicken at 11 in the morning. Place was clean though. Ramen Wasabi which is truly located in Chicago is still hard to beat. It was nice to try other styles. But wouldn't be coming back unfortunately.

Seriously some of the best ramen we've ever had! We decided to come to Chicago Ramen late one night because it's open until 2 am and did not regret it. The servers were extremely kind and helpful. They provided excellent recommendations and were very knowledgeable of the menu. The restaurant itself was very clean and well lit. We ordered the tonkotsu ramen with egg and red miso ramen with egg. Both bowls were equally delicious. The red miso ramen was definitely more rich, heavy, and fatty (in the best way possible.) The red miso ramen comes with thick noodles while the tonkotsu comes with thin noodles. The toppings are slightly different as well. Both broths are very flavorful and slightly salty. We also got the chicken karaage, which was excellent. This was a wonderful meal, and we will definitely be back!

Stopped by this spot on my short work trip to Chicago. I ordered the jiro ramen because it was a tontkotsu broth. I honestly wasn't sure what I was getting myself into as I've never had jiro ramen. The broth and noodles tasted like butter, it took me a while to figure out how to describe it. The noodles were different from what I expected and was thick and chewy. I was surprised that the thick pork was fairly tender. I loved the amount of veggies that came with the ramen. I forgot to add an egg, which would have enhanced this. Overall, a good bowl of ramen for the price. I had almost half a bowl leftover to take back. The inside was spacious. Parking lot with ample space. Service was good, I went around 3pm so it wasn't crowded.

    Tsukemen

This is my favorite ramen spot in the Chicago suburbs. The red miso ramen, jiro ramen, and tsukemen are all solid picks. I usually get the tsukemen because it's hard to find elsewhere. Once you finish the noodles, make sure you ask for hot water to be added to the rest of the dipping broth so you can drink it!

We walked into a casual, cozy space with a smaller dining area that can feel busy during peak hours, but the atmosphere stays simple and focused on the food rather than a polished dining experience. The setup works well for a place centered around a warm bowl of noodles, where the attention stays on what is in the bowl rather than what is on the walls. The ramen is the main reason to visit, especially the signature Kitakata-style noodles. The noodles have a thicker, springy texture that gives each bowl a satisfying bite, and the broths are where the restaurant stands out. We tried the Spicy Miso Ramen, which brought a deeper, richer flavor with a noticeable kick, and the Green Chili Shio Ramen, which offered a lighter but still flavorful option with a cleaner broth profile. The balance between the noodles, broth, and toppings made the bowls feel thoughtfully put together rather than just another standard ramen option. The toppings were generous and the eggs were cooked well, adding a creamy richness that tied the bowl together. Beyond ramen, the sides are worth adding to the meal. We ordered the pan-fried gyoza, which came out with a crisp exterior and a juicy filling, making it one of the stronger starters to share. The karaage also added variety if you want something beyond noodles, with a crispy coating that held up without being greasy. The menu has enough options for different preferences, including vegetarian ramen choices that do not feel like an afterthought. Because of its popularity, waits can happen, especially during dinner hours and weekends. Joining the waitlist ahead of time is a good idea if you are planning around a specific schedule. The restaurant moves with a steady pace once seated, and the service generally matches the casual style of the space. The staff handle the flow efficiently, and even when the dining room is full, the pace of the meal stays comfortable without feeling rushed. Kitakata Ramen Ban Nai is a strong ramen destination for anyone looking for flavorful broths, well-textured noodles, and comforting Japanese dishes. The spicy ramen options and pan-fried gyoza are highlights, making it a place worth visiting when you want a satisfying bowl rather than just a quick noodle stop. The quality of the broth and the texture of the noodles make it a step above the average ramen spot, delivering a meal that feels complete and well considered.
