We have been coming here for a good while, always loved coming. Good food, good atmosphere and majority of the time great customer service. Except this time. My partner and I walked in looking forward to everything, once we had been sat down by the hostess we were ignored by our waitress Cheyenne. She didn't greet us for almost 10 minutes and our hostess even got us our waters and apologized for the time she had been taking so long. Once she got our order moments afterwards another 10-15 minutes go by until we got our delicious food (served yet again by our hostess and not the waitress.) but during that time our waitress was happily serving the other guests and got their drinks before us. While we were eating our food, I noticed she didn't bother to stop by our table to see how we were doing or ask about our food. She went to the other tables she had and asked them, got them refills and other things they have mentioned. I tried to make eye contact but she would ignore my eyes when we locked, even eyeballed our table and still didn't talk to us. Towards the end I noticed the hostess and our waitress talking and looking at us (assuming the hostess said something to her about us being finished with our food.) She then came to our table saying "I see you guys are full, here are your double deep fried Oreos" and passes off the check. When we gave her the card to pay for she then realized she had forgotten our drinks. which I do appreciate she comped our appetizer, gave us a discount and then made my drink (not her but yet again the hostess.) Did not appreciate the baby talk when she was talking though saying "I am so sowy" and etc. I don't know if this was intentional or not but this was an upsetting experience. read more

Having been to many Ramen restaurants, I didn't expect much from Hokkaido in central Omaha. Upon entering, we were quickly seated. We enjoyed the upbeat music and the Japanese decor; some of items can be purchased. We started out with the Takoyaki (Octopus) appetizer and was pleasantly surprised, it had the right amount of outside crispiness and softness inside; 5 out of 5 stars. I then had the garlic tonkatsu with 2 slices of pork chashu, marinated egg, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, scallions, garlic flakes, and nori (seaweed) paper. The base and noodles was good but the meat was hard and not melts in your mouth soft. The noodles wasn't freshly made and I chewed on a solid ramen clump. This is a popular Ramen place in Aksarben. We had about a 30 minute wait for a table of two on Saturday night. We ordered the brown sugar boba, which was unfortunately disappointing. I could not taste the tea due to the overpowering milk, and the tapioca was somewhat hard and didn't seem cooked properly. The Ramen itself was delicious, however. They have many options for premade bowls and are also very flexible if you want to make your own. The best way to combat the cold?! Spicy ramen! This was our second trip to Hokkaido and we were just as impressed as the first visit! They have lots of ramen options on the menu, all customizable spice level and the option to add extra ingredients. There was a little wait time, but it was a Friday night around 7pm, so not surprising. The service was awesome! Our server answered all our questions and was quick with orders and refills on drinks. We started with Thai Tea and it was delicious! I love boba and the sweetness of the tea was a perfect combination with the pearls. For my main entree I had the Spicy Hokkaido spice level 3 and it was perfect! I wanted spicy, but not so hot I was hurting. 3 was great for me. They use chili oil, gochujang, and habanero for level 3 so it packs a punch! The overall flavor was delicious with a spicy finish to each bite, especially the broth. We ended with a complementary fried oreo which was as awesome as it sounds. The vibe in Hokkaido is very nostalgic with throwback tunes on the radio and lots of cartoon & anime characters incorporated in the decor. The egg melted in my mouth - so good! The only thing I didn't like were the pork pieces that might have been teriyaki style - I wasn't sure but they seemed dry. I am surprised to notice that I haven't written a review for this place before since it's one of our favorites! Definitely our go to when we're craving ramen. They have so many different options that it's hard to pick. My usual go to is the spicy lym, but this last visit I decided to try something different. I enjoyed it, but definitely the spicy lym continues to be my favorite. At the end of our meal or server brought us some fried Oreos on the house and they were amazing! Such a nice way to finish our meal. I noticed that they now have extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays where the place becomes 21+ and they offer some interesting cocktails. This was my first ever experience at at a Ramen House! I was pleasantly surprised. The wait staff was super nice, and the building itself was an experience. They went all out when it comes to anime, funkpop, etc.! It was super cool yet casual at the same time. I got the Spicy Lym ramen and it was delicious! It was originally a spicy level 1, and I kept it at that - best choice! It was spicy but an enjoyable spice. I wouldn't go any higher unless you have a good tolerance. We love "Johnny Ramen" and have been here multiple times. The ramen is always solid and they have a good variety of options. The drinks we had on our most recent visit were ok, but probably not worth the added cost on the bill. And the price is the thing that has me bring it down to four stars because our meal for two ended up being almost $90 and for something where I can see the amount of dust on the display shelves right next to the table and had to ask multiple times for a glass of water, it just didn't feel like it should have been as expensive as it was. Hokkaido Ramen House continues to impress me! We recently tried them via delivery and it was just as good as the items in the restaurant - which is not an easy feat. We ordered the Bozeman Roll, which was filled with salmon and cream cheese and came with eel sauce and spicy mayo for dipping (usually on top of the roll when you eat in the restaurant, but I dipped at home LOL) My husband had the Chicken Rich Ramen, which was a huge portion and super flavorful. The egg and meat were so good, soaking up the broth perfectly. I also really appreciated that they sent the ramen broth in a separate container and the veggies, meat, and noodles in another. Kept everything from getting soggy! I had the Chicken Teriyaki with added eel sauce and garlic butter. Chefs kiss on the sauces - they were so delish mixed with the rice, veggies, chicken, and teriyaki marinade. In terms of delivery versions of local restaurants, they can sometimes lose a little quality in the transport. Not Hokkaido Ramen House! While my favorite Dad ordered their Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl literally loaded for at least a few meals, T snagged the Chicken Rich Ramen. Flavored well, the wheat noods were something to get used to, but their egg, bok choy, chicken definitely hit the spot. My favorite Mom, got bold and ordered the Spicy (level 1) Hokkaido Ramen with a whole LOT of goodies; sriracha based broth, egg, bamboo shoots, bok choy... I ordered their Gluten Free Miso soup + tofu; also flavored well, no heat from spices (again, a me thing), excellent texture differences. We did not try their MANY Boba drink selections - or their Japanese sodas - but that's just our excuse to go again! We've been looking for a new ramen spot and this place was great! I got it as takeout and it was ready in just over 15 min. Parking and pickup was easy. The person who helped me was really nice and personable, even in that short interaction. Edamame was plentiful, crab Rangoon were stuffed and my ramen was packed with flavor! The service was really great but the food was lacking and terrible. The ambience was more of a anime theme which I didn't mind since I love anime but my husband said it best that it looks like a teenagers room. The ramen wasn't good, my kids hardly ate it and they love ramen, the karage didn't taste right at all and looked burnt. We also ordered plain edamame and it was over salted with more like rock salt. I mean just use regular table salt but not so much and the Chashu Don also didn't have any flavor, it was so dry! At least have some kind of sauce if it's going to be that dry. I love the anime decorations and books that adorn the place. Overall the place has a nice calm vibe, it would a great place to slurp noodles on a date. The broth is amazing. The best I've had in Omaha TBH. The egg was a bit in the sweet side and I kinda didn't dig that, I was expecting more umami. The pork was well cooked and tender and also flavorful. The ramen was spice leve1, virtually no heat at all, so I'll def increase the heat on my next visit. I really like soup spoon provided. It allowed me to take big sips of broth. The staff is super friendly. And I was surprised with small dessert, that turned out to be an Oreo cookie fried in a tempura batter. 5/10 for the ramen. 10/10 for the experience. I'm compelled to give it a 3/5, but I gave a 4 because I really like the place and it was my first time. First off, the ambience is very nice. I like what I see when I walk in. This restaurant caters to people who grew up in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Anime posters everywhere. Dragonball action figures and funko pops plastered all over the walls. TVs displaying anime that you can watch while you eat. It's a fun spot. Service was also great. Very punctual and polite. I had the Garlic Tonkotsu ramen and it was mid at best. Broth tasted like it didn't have any tare in it at all. Garlic tasted like it came out of a jar, very bitter and not great. Chashu wasn't made with a rolled pork belly, just some paper thin wafer of overcooked bland chewy meat thing. Ajitama was bland and flavorless, it may as well have just been a plain soft boiled egg. The aroma of the bowl kept making me think of something that had been freezer burnt. It might have been the garlic, maybe the chashu, I'm not completely sure. I will go back one more time to try something else, but the first experience left me thinking that I shouldn't have spent over 20 dollars for one bowl of ramen that I could have made myself WAY better for FAR less. read more

I went here on a cold winter night after working outside all day. The staff were very nice and accommodated a friend's allergy extremely well, double checking the information before serving the food. I ordered the Spicy Hokkaido ramen and it was very good. The marinated egg was soft and had an almost sweet flavor to it that complimented the spiciness of the broth. After submitting my order, it said it would be 30-40 minutes until it was ready. It came packaged separately which was nice for keeping it warm. I ordered Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen which was a pork based ramen and Hokkaido Boba Tea. The ramen was pretty average compared to other ramen I've had around town. I really enjoyed the broth, it has a great deep flavor. The bean sprouts allowed for nice crunch. I didn't really enjoy the texture or flavor of the noodles however. Pick up service was great. The ambience was nice. My kids pointed out what they liked in the restaurant, including the restroom. The restaurant had been opened for less than a year but they seem to be organized and have excellent customer service. The owner said they were short staffed tonight and he was our server, so of course we had excellent service. He checked up on us a few times and our dishes were cleared as we were done with them. We had a few others check on us while we were eating. Ramen was excellent. My kids shared a bowl of wheat noodles with tonkatsu broth. The shrimp spring rolls were good but we decided we probably will stick to veggie spring rolls instead. The pork gyoza was really good and my kids wanted a second order of them.
