We had calamari, wings, chicken satay and dumplings for appetizers then we ordered few different types of hibachi meals (steak, chicken, shrimp), veggies fried rice and sesame chicken. Kinda good, kinda not. Service was good. Very clean, though you could see a bit of roughness below the new paint. I read some folks talking about the price and ala cart items, but it was not unreasonable. Not cheap, but not unreasonable. I got a 2 sushi roll lunch, and it tasted fine. Again, not great, but nothing to complain about . . . Till . . Bones. Yeah, I got two separate bones on my sushi. The first one I wrote off as a fluke. The second one I quit eating. Left more than a full roll on the table. My wife's mixed vegetable with chicken was good, except for very overcooked zucchini, which she simply didn't eat. I wish them the best, but we will definitely not be choosing Hookie again. read more

We were told to come here by the local mechanic and he was right. The service did and ambiance were awesome but the best part was our conversations with the owner i think his name was Jimmy. We were excited to try this new Asian restaurant as there are few in this area. We ordered: crab rangoon, California roll, Gen Tso chicken and Hibachi chicken. The Hibachi chicken came with a bowl of soup and small salad and a side of rice which you could "upgrade" to fried rice for $3. The crab rangoon were crispy and delicious. I enjoyed the California roll. My daughter enjoyed the Gen Tso and for the most part my husband enjoyed Hibachi dinner...BUT do not advertise fried rice when its just rice with soy sauce--that is NOT fried rice and for $3 is a rip off! Our waiter was friendly but once the food was delivered he was scarce. When he finally came by I asked him where the fried rice was and he said that is it--it only comes with egg (which there was very little of). The menu states fried rice has egg, onion, peas and carrots--the normal and expected ingredients. The portion sizes were good and the ambiance was ok but for a very loud crying baby... Our bill came to around $55 which I felt is a bit overpriced for the quality. We only had water to drink. If I am in Clayton I may try it again but nothing I would drive out of my way for--and I won't order the fried rice! read more

We had been eagerly waiting for this place to open, so we made sure to visit during their soft opening week. Even though we arrived early to beat the rush, it was already packed--which honestly was a good sign! As expected with new openings, they were slammed and seemed a bit short-staffed. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, but once seated, our server greeted us with a warm smile and promptly took our drink orders. She was very polite and even apologized for the wait, which we appreciated. We ordered a variety of dishes to sample the menu: we started with the miso soup (delicious), followed by the sushi and sashimi platter, chicken hibachi, and shrimp fried rice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The sushi, in particular, stood out--it's easily the best in town! Despite how busy it was, the staff remained incredibly friendly and attentive. They checked in regularly and made sure we were well taken care of. On top of all that, the new renovation looks amazing--modern, clean, and inviting. Overall, a fantastic first experience. Great food, great service, and a beautiful space. This spot is definitely our new go-to. Highly recommend checking it out! read more

Glad to see a new Asian restaurant in Clayton. Wife and I came for lunch. She had Mongolian Beef, I had a red curry dish subtly flavored with coconut milk. Both dishes were delicious. Staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our meal. We hope that as the restaurant prospers they can expand their menu to include a lunch selection with smaller portions and reduced prices over their dinner selection. Traditional Chinese food, yet all is "ala cart". Typically with a main course meal or "lunch" special you get soup, rice, egg roll and your meal. Also most serve fried wontons or some form of munchie while waiting. I had beef and broccoli and hubby had Gen Tso's chicken. We had nothing noted above provided and for the HIGH price.... I did order fried rice for an extra charge, BUT it came out as a bowl of brown rice, NOTHING fried about it, no veggies, no egg, no pork etc. It had a weird taste, and extremely bland (didn't eat after first 2 bites) I did try.... I gave 2 stars because the main meal was the only saving grace but my Beef and Broccoli was $16 by itself. The dining room itself was nice and open. read more

Hanna's was our choice for Asian cuisine in Clayton. We were sad when it closed. Now we have an even better choice at Hokkie Asian Kitchen. The wait staff is very pleasant and capable. The food is stellar. Everyone got something different and we were all so pleased. The sushi was fresh, the shrimp and vegetable cooked to perfection, the shrimp fried rice was delicious as was the chicken yakasobi. We arrived early for lunch and there was already a crowd. When we left the parking lot was full. Give it a try. You'll be glad you did. read more
